Control PC with iPod Touch / iPhone

why dont you just download the app remote mouse or remotemouse and go to the website. (will show directions when app is opened) and ya it actuly works

This program in the video allows users to view their PC screen from anywhere as long as the server is running on their PC. RemoteMouse only allows you to turn your iPod, iPhone or iPad into a wireless mouse to use around your PC. This program does not allow the user to view their PCs screen.

@nickvisstick It uses a wireless connection to operate, yes. When using from home, it will connect using a LAN connection. However, this can be used from anywhere with any internet connection.

After you download the tightVNC software, make sure you change it to your desired password. Then, when you try to login with your iphone/ipod you need to enter the setting for the password which is the same as the one you put it in your tightVNC software

@Joshssp1 Yes. Most virus scanners try to. Is there an option on the Norton popup window to allow the program? If not, go into the Norton program itself (most likely accessible by an icon on the bottom right of the screen, and find the firewall or blocked programs list. Find TightVNC Server and allow it. Hope this helped.

The password you enter into your iPod/iPhone is the password you set on the TightVNC program on the computer. Refer to 0:30 in the video.

That could be a number of reasons. You might not have a good connection with your wireless connection, your iPod is being blocked maybe from connecting, or some settings are not set correctly. Make sure your password was entered correctly on both the PC Program and iPod Program.

great vid 5/5 but everytime i log on, tight VNC doesnt automatically work. i have to click on it first and open it and then it works. it sorta defeats the whole purpose if i have to use my pc to activate it. anyone know if im doing something wrong or if its just always that way? i really need help...anyone.... thanks

That is the way it is supposed to work. It is a security feature. And, it doesn't really defeat the purpose, you just turn the VNC server on at your PC and then leave, and then you can connect later without having to worry about it.

No. The program that I mentioned (TightVNC) needs to be running on your computer. Therefore, the computer does need to remain on. However, the PC can be shut down with the iPod.

Yes. It will work exactly the same as this, unless it has changed somehow, which I do not believe so. Simply connect to the other network, make sure the TightVNC is running on the PC you wish to control, and follow this video for the IP/Password settings and you're ready to go...

I'm sure you've listened to the video carefully, therefore you have a wireless internet connection, and you have all the stuff installed correctly. Just try being closer to your router.

I have the ipod connected via wifi, and my pc connected from the wifi router via cable to the pc. It always says it can't connect to the host. Do I need a wifi connection from my pc to my router?

No. Make sure you have everything set up right. That you have dragged your mouse over the VNC server to get your IP, and that you have a password in the VNC server on your PC. Make sure you enter all of that information correctly onto your iPod. Also, it may help if you are close to your router if you have a weaker connection. Other than that, your internet may just be having connection problems. It happens to me sometimes.
