  • Jesse Dixon died at the age of 73, in Chicago, on September 26, 2011. RIP Jesse.

  • this was his first real attempt at raggae

  • 2:29 XD

  • my momma love me like a freakin boulder! believe it.

  • I'm not sure my momma loved me like a rock; She's never given me an unconditional blessing with no strings attached. That's pathetic! Moms, tell your boys you love them like a rock, and mean it! It will make a difference in your son's life. Believeth thou it!

  • i love this man!

  • He looks like a weirdo.... but this song! :D WOW!

  • Paul Simon= Masterful musician!

  • She loves me,loves me like a rock!

  • our party song from way back.....still sing it to our young ones and they get right into it

  • Great backup vocals. I love this song.

  • Paul is underated as a folk guitarist. the chord structure to "50 ways 2 leave ur lover " is so complex, it's not funny.

  • This song is so great - all of the version on youtube. All the people in this video are adorable!

  • i always liked Paul Simmon

    @RuthieAppleby

  • That's one bad haircut that ol' Paul is sporting there.

  • Great song!

  • Love me like a rock? Paul Simon you devil.

  • Love this loads, it's an overlooked tune - no doubt. That middle femail backing singer has a weird hand clap though, doesn't she? Whoops, sorry for that personal and banal comment- the internet has a dreadful influence on ordinarily rational people. Seriously though, if you've stumbled across this, check out the album

  • this guitar Paul Simon was played, was it from Yamaha?

  • Dixie Hummingbirds?

  • Never realized how musically gifted Paul was and still is until I watched him perform on a TV special....he's awesome......I love his music

  • excellent comment

  • Wow what a inspiring song

  • sing on wc johnny,I still do while riding across this great land.

  • Oh yell yeah, this is great!!!

  • When this song came out the 750 Hondas,BSA's and Triumphs were breezing along the highways. When it played on the radio or jukeboxs I told my riding buddies it was 100 mph music-let's go.

  • @dragontailjunkie my grandpa introduced me to this song when i was a little kid. We used to listen to it all the time in his triumph :)

  • Amazing , I did the four corners ( N. American round trip ) and sang this tune to myself alot ,while bombing down the highway, back in 82.

  • On one of his talk-shows, Mark Christopher was talking about the music scene in 1973. He said that it was a down year as far as quality went. In other words, a lot of the songs were wimpy. Agree or disagree. Feel free to reply.

  • Tommy Tedesco?

  • love how time passes and the women of his life still go down on their knees to hug him xD 2 different jokes in it lol

  • Love it!!!

  • Im on the presidential pooooooodium Love it

  • its way 2 fast! i like it slower

  • i disagree respectfully its gotta good beat

  • ya, thats true...

looking back at it now it's pretty good actually.

  • Who do you think your fooling?

  • Sounds better with the dixie hummingbirds

  • I agree with you !The Dixie Hummingbirds version sound much better no disrespect to the other group. Growing up in Philly I always love the distinct sounds of the Birds

  • Is it Toots Thielemans on guitar???

  • Wow good to see rarities like this.

  • That version with the Persuasions HAD to have sounded awesome! This is great song & the Persuasions are a great group (I LOVE a capella), & that had to sound cool with Jimmy Hayes laying down the bass vocals! Is there a vid or a copy of that somewhere by chance? I would love to hear it.

  • The best version is Jerry Lawson on lead with The Persuasions - Simon had The Persuasions perform this with him on Saturday Night LIve

  • Hi Julie - I know ther Persuasions sang Slip Sliding Away with Paul Simon on SNL. The Persuasions with Jerry Lawson are the BEST!!!

  • Paul Simon has always had the voice of a true folk artist. Whether he's just talking or singing, it's sooo calming & comfortable to hear.

  • @TEQTONYK

    fail, it isnt folk

    it is country xD

  • @dosinfartos

    Fail, it isn't country.

It is contemporary American Folk music. Do some research on Paul Simon & do some research on what Country music actually is.

  • @TEQTONYK Technically it's gospel..

  • Nice piece, I really enjoy it.

  • No offense..the backround vocals sound good..but not like the Dixiehummingbirds backing Paul Simon

  • The man in the backing vocals - is that Jessey Dixon?

  • Apparently so.

  • Paul said this song is about Nixon, and how he could do whatever he wanted because his mother loved him.

  • Jessie sang with my cousins in chicago.

  • this song has to be about my dear sweet mother

  • A Gospel version ?! Who woulda' thought ?

  • This is incredible...

Steve Gadd, Dave Sanborn, Richard Tee, Toots Thielemans...

    Simply stellar!

  • I love this song. God bless

  • Great sound thanks for sharing it!!!!

  • what a song, i love it

  • Whoa! This is NICE! Paul Simon is a f-in legend!
