The only thing I didn't like about HUGO is it looks like it's going to be HARRY POTTER in the beginning but gradually transforms into PINOCCHIO and eventually ends up as HUCK FIN.
for the most part i agreed with this, but personally I think really little kids around the age of 1-7 wouldn't be able to sit still. I think that age 8+ could handle it. My younger brother who is 11 loved it. I saw even younger kids who enjoyed it too.
Did not agree with this review. I thought Hugo was a complete joy to watch and I didn't find it to drag either. It definitely reminded me of the first Harry Potter film for its magic but also wonder. I think alot of people seriously underestimate what kids will tolerate, obviously not all of them will go for this especially when you consider just what direction most kids films have gone these days. However I personally think it has more than enough intrigue and charm to really thrill.
@twocanplayatthat You're right. My mistake. He PLANNED on having a cameo, but it didn't happen... I didn't realize the article I was reading was AGES old!
The Cineverse would like to first thank you for both viewing our video and expressing concerns about our review. In response to your query, we felt that this particular film was indeed well made. With that said and keeping in mind the mindset of a child, we do not think the overall point or moral of the film will be grasped/understood by a young audience.
. Also, the length of the film is an issue especially seeing as though the movie relies heavily on character development and dialogue as opposed to action. Hugo is a movie that parents will take their kids to, not one that kids will drag their parents to.
The 3d, in the Cineverse’s opinion, was beautiful to look at. The only reason we said that a 2D viewing would be suitable was because of the outrageous ticket prices. The Cineverse sets out to let fans know if a movie is worth their money. In this case, we say it is but the 3D is not needed to fully enjoy the film, (where as in Transformers 3, the 3D was absolutely necessary for the film to be fully enjoyable).
Again, we thank you for your opinion and for creating a space where others can comment as they please and we always encourage our viewers/fans to speak their mind. In the future, the Cineverse would like to direct you to the community tab on our website where fans can start a forum about a particular episode, something we said, upcoming movies or whatever comes to mind. Thank you again, and until next time…
Not a big fan of the review. First of all, the 3D is juxtaposed with the dawn of special effects in cinema. To say you are not "missing much" if you see it in 2D is misleading, because it's used a technological tool that is juxtaposed with the dreamlike quality of cinema generally.
I found the story to be a celebration of movies and storytelling. Perhaps you disliked the story, but as someone who watches about three movies each week I find this story to be devastating and exhilarating. 10/10
I agree the story was exhilarating, but what we are saying is that a childs attention span will not be conducive to the length of time this movie takes to makes it point.
Lags? You guys say the opposite of most people. Its a family film, yes. Key word: family. There's something for everyone. Definitely a sub par review.
