Punishments, Floods, and Pink Hitler Babies

forgive im a bit new to vlogbrothers(but im not new to ToF so thats kind of funny) but I am very curious about why these "punishments" are being dished out to each brother. I mean why are they being punished? I've been watching alot of vlogbrothers videos lately in no order whatsoever so I've probably heard the reason for these "punishments" but it just went flying right over my head. "Hi! I'm mister oblivious and you are?"

I did a bunch of research on google and while you are correct about blue being for girls and pink for boys and the pink triangles and all that, I couldn't find ANY source that mentioned a correlation between the two. Anything that did mention it was usually Wikipedia/Yahoo answers (not reliable) or referenced this video. Actual articles talked about different reasons...
