  • NEVER GIVE UP SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE

  • A great piece of history! The greatest tenor God ever created. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece. Miss you Jackie.

  • Thanks for this upload !

    Brilliant

  • Have only just been introduced to the world of soul music and Jackie Wilson is my favorite. I can't get enough of his music, I love this interview. Thank you so very much. Long live the legend of Jackie Wilson the greatest of them all.

  • he gave respect to his friend ELVIS and that shows what a great person he was and it also shows what made ELVIS the man he was.color played no part just both respected each other because of the music.both are gone but there music still lives on and it was nice to no they where friends when back then that didn't happen that much in public.

  • I'm not Irish but his rendition of the song Danny Boy is devastating.

  • This is a very beautiful interview. Mr. Wilson was the ONLY R& B artist my "very Baptist Grandma" LOVED !!!! Thank you for sharing !!!!

  • I loved Jackie Wilson and I would love to see a movie done on his life including Sam Cooke, James Brown and Otis Redding. And they can throw Wilson Pickett in for good measure.

  • i hope they do a film movie on Jackie Wilson as well as Ray Charles and his film Ray Frankie Lymon Why Do Fools Fall in Love others should be next like Jesse Belvin and Roy Hamilton plus Clyde McPhatter and Larry Williams.Sam Cooke was friends with Jackie Wilson and Jesse Belvin but were there when Jesse died in 1960 and was on the road with Roy Hamilton

  • Thanks for this wonderful insight into one of the greatest entertainers ever. You made me cry.

  • Thanks for this. I love any interviews of Jackie Wilson that are available.

  • Thanks for sharing the interview. A few questions. Who is the DJ interviewing Jackie? What Year was this taken place?

Jackie Wilson interviews and footage are dramatically rare.

I was listening to Gary Null (a talk show host on PRN) and he mentioned he did a Jackie Documentary. Have you heard that? HE did not state what year..or if it was filmed, radio show or a book. peace !!

  • Great to hear this interview -- to finally hear the voice behind the voice. Thanks for making this video available. ....Rowby

  • Look at how many performance numbers they allowed Angela Basset to do in the Tina Turner movie. It made the movie worth watching. Yet, they never showed us one vice that she had. Come on, who amongts us has made no mistakes, particularly in show business, where temptations are passed out like candy. All we got was what Ike Turner and the complete black male cast did wrong. The only men in the movie who were decent were white men. Malik Jubal

  • @LordIam1 There are mistakes and just continuing to wrong because your no good. Ike Turner was no good, don't try to justify beating on a woman. Some people are just no good, so don't be fooled by the talent. Tina had a right to tell her true life story. There's always more then music. Not many women have vices like males. Just cause your in the music biz, no one put a gun to your head to make you accept temptations, you chose to. A lot of black males do wrong, and that's just keeping it real.

  • @LordIam1 Just cause a person is a good singer or entertainer, doesn't mean their a good person, and sometimes we have to face that fact, so that's why I say enjoy the music, and don't try to find out to much about your idols, because they may break your heart when you find out how they really were. No one is perfect, but some people ain't even decent nor know how to treat people, especially if their successful, they think they can just walk over people.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever love this interview, like story about LT arrangement, JW says he secretly wants to be a DJ, act, he wants to go somewhere but is not sure where, makes ref to feeling like Sinatra Jr like in awe-he was a unusually highly paid STAR, and SO respected by his peers, wasn't he satisfied with that? think JW, hands down, more talent than all he mentioned..was he completely aware of how good he is? why did he stay w/Brunswick?

  • @jschuler53 thanks for posting...how old is he here? are there other interviews with him, it is unusual to hear him talk, i'd like to hear more from him..I hope there is a film made about him..

  • Jackie Wilson was a great performer, and a biopic is long overdue.

  • Thank you! Finally I get to learn something about the man from the man! I have one BIG regret in my life and that is that between 73-77 I finally met your grandfather who happens to be my grandmother's nephew in Indlps. a few hours before his show with my dad! I told him who I was and he invited me to his show that evening BUT I WAS TOO YOUNG TO GO!!!! I'm from Starkville, MS. Thank god for you and youtube! Bye distant relative:)

  • Wow what an insight to the master...my father was a massive fan of jackie wilson and i inherited the love of this mans music.........well we've had the Film "Ray" i think "Jackie" is way over due

  • @geordiejohnson yes there should be a Jackie Wilson motion picture. However, I fear they wont concentrate on his great voice and talent. They will make too much of the story about his vices, womanizing, drugs, who knows what, if any of these things he did, but they will mess it up. Look at the Frankie Lymon movie Why Do Fools Fall in Love. They started with great stage performances, and immediately launched into his vices. It killed the movie. Malik Jubal

  • @LordIam1 If you want just the focus on the voice and talent, then a documentary will be nice, but if you want his life story, you have to accept the good and bad of his life, but I know his life will definitely overshadow his talent. They really screwed up with Frankie Lymon's story, it was more about the women, then Frankie's life. Didn't learn anything about his background or his true personal life, just the women fighting over his money, but it did at least introduce him to a new generation.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Yes! In the Lymon movie, his stage performances ere very exciting! Larenz Tate must have done his homework in research and physical choreography. Even the short first stage perforance of Halle Berry as one of The Platters was powerful. And these movies never show how greedy and soulless many of these managers and agents were. They make it appear that the artist downfall is all their fault, as in the recent case of Amy Winehouse. Malik Jubal

  • According to a radio interview with the author of The Black Elvis-Jackie Wilson, Doug Saint Carter said that TVOne contacted him to take part in an Unsung special about Jackie. But eventually had to scrap the project because Paul Tarnopol, son of Jackie's manager Nat Tarnopol, who now runs the Brunswick label would not allow them to use his music. Paul Tarnopol claimed he was doing his own project on Jackie. Carter sounded sceptical of Tarnopol's claim. Looks like he's probalby right about that.

  • @lsotmitr thanks for leaving the comment. I'm glad TVOne at least tried. I've been hounding them. But I always knew it was either Brunswick or a certain ex wife that was keeping people from using Jackie's music for documentaries. Their only hurting Jackie's legacy by not allowing people to use the music, but that's what they want to obviously do...is hurt Jackie. Whatever grudges they have, I say get over it, the man has been dead for almost 30 years, let him rest in peace, and give him his due.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever hi, my dad is a massive fan, he worked for a record company called charley and it was my dads suggestion to them to release a 6 cd set of jackie wilson back in the 90's, my dad wrote the biography in the sleeve notes and actually put the songs in a certain order like lets say, chicago years or other eras in his life and work. The set was released in the uk and maybe even in america and elsewhere. some guy who wrote a book on jackiie used my dads writing for reference

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever I will be ahppy to see the day when they show the "Full-Life Story" of Jackie Wilson & his wonderful supportive family. You know Jackie has living family that carry on his music as much as possible. I don't know all the family names to give give them all the proper credits they all deserve for trying to keep his music alive for us his fans. Also he has a son named Bobby Brooks Hamilton Wilson which does a Jackie Wilson Tribute Stage show. Jackie Rock on....:)

  • This interview was taken directly from the 1982 album, "SRO Jackie Wilson" .

In 2000, it was released on CD as , " Jackie Wilson...Final Curtain"...

so much for "putting it together".

  • @PutOnASweater When I meant put together, I meant I took the time to take the interview off the cd, rip it, and put the photos with it. It took some putting together. It wasn't easy.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Thanks for your input. We truly appreciate it.

  • @PutOnASweater What are you Jackie Wilson's flunky or groupie? Were smart enough to know where she got the interview from. We don't need you telling us where videos and music come from. I knew, I collect too, so get off your high horse. I'm grateful that she took the time to "put it together," no one else did. If you truly were Jackie's friend, have some respect for his granddaughter. If you wanna dispute that, she has proof, but I doubt she would show you, so so much for your comment.

  • @PutOnASweater You really should look up the definition of putting something together. She never said it belonged to her. She said she put togeher. Look up putting together, it means assembling bits and pieces, and that's what she did, between the interviews was Jackie's live show, so she had to put the interview together consistently. So stop trying to start stuff, and let us fans appreciate a great interview.

  • this is amazing, thanks for sharing

  • If i could be any singer, it would be THIS guy. Damn...he had it all....looks, talent, charisma...he's an original. Yea Mr. Excitement...we haven't forgotten you.

  • great interview with a great man. Thanks for the post.

  • Who is the man interviewing Jackie?

  • @DT5005 The guy's name is Norman.

  • Rare clips like this of Jackie Wilson is priceless. I will put this is my archives with other rare and special clips that I have.

  • Very professionally done; and you are right he comes across as charming, witty, humorous, and very down to earth.

  • thank you, i also have requested TVONE do a show on jackie. let hope to see him soon. it will be nice to here some of that cd like, lonely teardrops. thanks again for posting.

  • @music and dancing4ever -Thank you! This is such a wonderful interview. He spoke so well and his diction is perfect. You can almost see his face as he speaks. He has a pleasant tone of voice. That is why he could sing so well. I am so glad you will keep his legacy alive. All of us fans loved Jackie Wilson. Now, if you can just bring it to the screen as a biography of his life to show people he had a very human side to him. Not all of it tragic either! *****

  • @msros60 I'm glad you liked it. I wish I could bring his life and career to the big screen, it is long overdue. I ask everyone here to send their request in to TVOne to do a special on Jackie Wilson for their show Unsung. The more request they get from people, they'll see there's a demand, and may do a story on him. They've done many stories so far on r&b/soul artists from the 60's/70's.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Thank you. I certainly will try to send a request.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Ok I'll definately do this. Thanks for your input.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever This interview captures a thoughtful, intelligent, and mature artist who is worthy of a serious, lengthy, critical documentary, filled with great performance and interview footage. The relationship between JW, Brunswick/Tarnopol, organized crime, and music capitalism has yet to be fully detailed in film. JW was genuine, compassionate, classy, and bursting with talent and energy. It makes sense that he and Sam Cooke were best friends. A one of a kind personality.

  • Merry Christmas I am soooooo glad this was posted!!! The World Will Know The Greatest!!!
