  • what a performance ! touches every soul ever listening... timeless as the heroes

    of that time !!!!

  • It's great that she did this.

  • Faith at her best with the choir, powerful message. Never Forget

  • THIS IS THE BEST PERFORMANCE FOR HER!!!!!

  • She said the right words ... to Osama ... there will come a day ... :) Glad he is gone ... :)

  • America: A Tribute to Heroes was one step towards healing. Ten years later, its importance talking through somber word and uplifting song of comfort, hope, pain, and trembling helped us to get on our feet.

  • On this 10th anniversary of 9/11, my thoughts are with all those who lost a loved one that day...may their sacrifice never go in vain

  • remembering....

  • This is the song i connect to come September, the 11th.....and today, 10 years later, a whole deacde after, .....the raw hurt and the pain, the shock that such an Evil resides in the heart of Humankind, it is fresh....i pray and hope that we can all find our way back Home ....that , yes, that Day shall come, when song will ring out, and Sin shall have no trace, only the voices..only the voices of...Amazing Grace!

  • Gorgeous song. There will come a day...

  • this was the 1st TV program that came on - Tribute to Heroes ... can you imagine a nation totally shutting everything off - no TV - no internet - nothing at all ... the US closed everything off back then .... so that we could grieve internally ... it was way quiet back then

  • This is amazing. I love Faith Hill!!!

  • Faith is awesome.

  • This is the song that got me thru 9/11 ... Beautiful!!!!

  • I never cease to get chills when I hear this song. Faith is amazing in this performance. It's just so tragic the circumstances that all these incredible singers and artists came together for. God bless all the victims of 9-11.

  • my favorite song to sing at a karoake bar...

  • Is that Paul Shaffer on keyboard???

  • @murfboroman Yeppers; Paul hisself. Awesome performance during a very sad time. Peace: -)

  • @binnyman Yeah. I'm almost more intrigued by his performance than hers.

  • is that really faith hill? she looks like a 40 year old from 1997. not the greatest haircut.

  • Love her..whatever happened to her??

  • @desertmanofthehour She got married to another country star.

  • @desertmanofthehour she is taking care of their kids, but has made a new album it will be ouit soon.Ilove her regardless of her hair ,she is still beautiful.

  • top, top.top,

  • Other countries cannot fathom this thought ... but I have to say it ... after right after the events of 911 ... the entire US shut itself down ... no flights coming in, no TV programs, etc. for over a week ... to grieve internally ... can you imagine an entire nation doing that? We did - and

  • And this is one of the periods where we took care of our own ... I think this program netted the most of the fundraisers in the US ... so this proves that in times of need, we will always turn inward and take care of our own when need be

  • Faith, you are the best in country, that is besides your loving husband. love this song. love you. it is so wonderful how beautiful you can still sing even when your pregnant. babies do take a lot of your oxygen when you are singing.

  • dad i hold you in memory i love you never stopped i don't hold a grudge for you not being there i still knew your heart but i know your resting with GOD

  • I soo totally remember this ... this was at the tail end of the grieving period where America closed itself off for a week ... and slowly tv programs came back on ... and this was one of the first ... we were totally one people at that time

  • @soxmonki "We were totally one people at that time"- couldnt agree with you more!! I had never seen so much American patriotism, as I did during the days and months following September 11. :-) Then, it just disappeared and hasn't been that huge since.

  • From Japan, about three years ago I saw this performance on DVD...

At first sight, I had love this song and her voice.

Though I had not known her before, since then she is the best singer in my life.

I believe , all of the world people have the thought that they love thePEACE!!

  • my soon to be husband is Army National Guard Infantry..and the things he has seen and the people he has lost as well as being hurt-one can't understand why there is so much pain hate and evil in this world! Support your US Troops! Freedom isn't free! Say thank you when you see a military person-trust me they appreciate it-makes them feel like they're doing this for a purpose!

  • @MsCharamut1969 My dad was in Desert Storm, in the army reserves. He got the Purple Heart after wards. I totally support our troops, and love this song. As a christian, it rings true to me in that sense also.

  • This was played at Jenni's funeral last night. Rest in peace Officer Jenni Liuck

    gone but not forgotten

  • @debsusan53 what happened to jenni? i*m so sorry for you. greetings from germany

  • Comment removed

  • @deputamadre1701 Jenni was a Town of Oconomowoc Police officer shot and killed on December 6th 2009. She is survived by a 11 year old son. My husband is the retired Chief from the PD>

    She is missed.

    thanks for caring

  • I'm getting chills from this. Holy crap is she good.

  • I remember this performance. Some radio stations picked it up, I was able to tape some of it and got this amazing performance by Faith, my favorite country artist. What an amazing song, takes me away. It's the last song on her 'Breathe' CD. Performed live, and at that time, I think helped so many people. Thank You, Faith :)

  • I think he was getting at that Faith is a powerful singer in the same league as Whitney...which is extremely flattering as Whitney is considered by many to be one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. I don't think he was linking Whitney's bad habits to Faith at all...atleast I don't think...LOL

  • she was Pregant woth Audrey she Looks glowing Love her so much!

    jaylee

  • she's a white whitney

  • (smile) I'm sure Whitney would be flattered...as would Faith.

  • this is one of my favorite songs and has given me alot of comfort many times since that day of 9/11

I know it wont be long till that day comes for all eternity and I look forward to it

    Marc in NYC

  • Great song and performance. Beautifully haunting at the end.

  • the way she sings is amazing. the way she sings, feels like how we felt on that day.

    thank you faith hill.

  • this is one of my favorite songs!!

    and when was this

  • September 21, 2001

  • This song is so great. It sad to think all the different artist had to be hid in secret locations just to do this benifit. They(terrorist) brought us to our knees that day. But, we got back up and will remain standing

  • I get chills as soon as I hear the piano keys begin...one of the most soulful and passionate performances of one of the most powerful and meaningful songs ever written, I think.

  • I think ,

THIS IS THE BEST PERFORMANCE FOR HER!!!!!

  • Great video , great voice has Faith Hill. The song "There will come a day" fills me with strength in a world we live in, I need it -- we all need it. Isabelle--MALTA

  • Faith Hill is so passionate when she sings that you really feel her emotions while she sings, she gives her all, she is a Super Singer.

  • Instant favorite. I've always admired Faith for singing this. It still reminds of the vision the Kennedys and a few other indivuals of their kind once used to pursue. Her voice is not only haunting but it is also safe to claim that she's never done better on any of her songs live given the message she's trying to convey!! This should have been up for a grammy. world class performance.

  • HOLY !!

  • This performance gave me chills. Her voice was haunting.

  • I remember watching this performance live.

    Great job, Faith.

  • This song will always remind me of 9-11. Sad song yet powerful and comforting. May the innocent rest in peace.

  • I found this to be a poignant performance for Faith Hill. At this point in her career, she was known for being very glam with near-platinum hair extensions, full face make-up, and stylish outfits. For her to be so stripped down here and deliver such an emotional performance really speaks for her true artistry.

  • 9/11 this ron paul that, i am highly amused that a faith hill video has evoked such politcal dialogue, you all are douche bags

  • Good performance.

  • May we never forget

    In Christs Love

    Michelle~

  • Does anyone know how I can download this to my ipod or cd? I love this version. Thanks.

  • Did you ever find out where the the 9/11 tribute version of There Will Come a Day could be downnloaded to ipod or CD? Thanks!

    RON PAUL

  • There is.

  • This is my favorite song :)

  • i....remember this....was it so long ago? peple forgot about it

  • youn have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Faith hill is a fantastic singer, when people sing, they are singing feelings, which is just like acting.too contrived. you obviously know nothing about singing or about Faith Hill.she is the best country/pop singer there is!!

  • she always looks like shes "straining" when she sings. if you don't know her performance style, you shouldn't criticize. this was a tribute to heros, it's quite inappropriate i think that you're focusing on whether she did well or not.

  • she always looks like shes "straining" when she sings. if you don't know her performance style, you shouldn't criticize. this was a tribute to heros, it's quite inappropriate i think that you're focusing on whether she did well or not.

  • That is not too bad, but you look at the version of the Melinda Doolittle (vocally it's really better)...

  • I love Melinda, and why are some of ya'll giving that comment a thumbs down, did you listen to Melinda's version? It's amazing and I think that she holds the notes in all the right places:) I do like Faith Hill though:)

  • I love this! We can never forget. The day they brought us to our knees and cryed. But, we Stood back up! I love the USA and all our people. We are the world

  • i like faith hill, but.....i cant feel her words, but she really have a VERY POWERFUL VOICE,...ok im ready for my negative 50.......

  • This song touches my soul. It says so much about the world we live in today.

  • wow, what a beautiful song.

  • love faith hill, so talented!!

i've got a clip of myself attempting to sing this song!! would love to hear to feed back if you wouldn't mind poping over!!

  • sorry Faith, but I loved Melinda Doolittle's singing of this better.

  • I certainly respect your opinion but I don't think Melinda's version comes anywhere near this. I mean, Melinda certainly can sing but I think Faith takes this song to a completely different level both vocally and emotionally.

  • i hav this vid and this is my fav song! lalalalalaldododdoddadadadadalooloolooloo

  • Melinda's was incredible she had an amazing voice that overpowered the choir that made it extrodinary and Faith's voice-I love her a lot-sort of falls behind the singers.

  • uhhhh nooooo the choir makes it more emotional! in my op!

  • that is the problem right there,Faith could do better without the choir. have you seen the video of Faith singing "peace in the valley". check it out.

  • See, I disagree. I think Faith more than holds her own. Melinda would get lost in the mix but Faith sings with power, conviction, and a certain distinction.

  • I do agree,Faith has her power, she will always have it.her voice is more mature. she does sing well with a choir, but she is in her own space when she belts out those notes. the woman can hold her own no matter what she sings. it has to be a plus when a woman is singing while she is pregnant, she was expecting her 3rd child when she did this song,it took a lot of her oxygen.

  • yeah I disagree there is so much energy and power coming from the choir, it brings the performance to life, no she doesn't 'need' them but they compliment each other. I was never a fan of hers, but I will never forget this performance in 2001 right after 9/11, I was amazed, it was so moving and dynamic.

  • yes, they do compliment each other. it is always better when a song like this is song to have a choir. Faith loves singing this kind of music and she loves it with a choir. she loves dark,as many call it,music.she says colored people have such soul.she recently did a duet with aretha franklin, can't wait to hear that song.

  • I'm only 15 but i actually like this song

  • Great performance, does anyone have the Will Smith Muhammed Ali intro followed by this?

  • Hey Faith has done it again. Another wonderful song.

She & hubby Tim have an amazing voicies! Way to go!

    Jenny from moorsville,NC

  • lovely =)

  • oh wow i haven't seen this since it was live on tv! i remember Faith was pregnant with her third child, audrey! Faith is so amazing! thanks!

  • Simon was right, Melinda took this song and made you think it was HER OWN. She sounded much better that Faith. Not to take anything from Faith-

  • melinda is a good singer, and she is as good as Faith, but I think nobody can outsing Faith. it would have been interesting to have her sing with Faith on this song. that would have been cool!

  • love this song:) very emotional days back then....

  • well at least faith is pretty. melinda... NOT!

  • common, thats uncalled for, who cares what someone looks like

  • i think its uncalled when someone says the artist who made the song popular to never sing it agaian.

  • ..i do. i agree with faithhillisthebest, cause its true.

  • Grow Up Please.

  • its not really that i need to grow up..maybe stop being shallow, but old people can be shallow as well..

  • Grow Up please

  • beautiful

  • Paul shafer is on organ.. can't tell who's on piano.

  • nice :> & slow. lolz

  • i guess we are listen to a different version..listen to the studio version and compare to the live.. luv her .. she sound like an amature on this song..

  • She is the song. Original singer. Its called Live!!! She sounds great, plus she's pregnant!!!

  • sorry melinda took your song .. she owns this one..don't ever sing this song again..leave it to melinda.. u sound horrible.. pitchy.. stop

  • "Pitchy" you say dare57...obviously you are brainwashed by "idol" even stealing their overused comments...Faith sings this with simple passion and dignity.

  • This was good, but Melinda's version is so much better. Melinda is an amazing singer, not a day goes by with out me listening to Melinda's version of this song. I just love it.

  • I have to agree, Melinda's version is way better. Sign of a great singer to outdo an original. Like faith hill though

  • This video is not as good as her other one where she sang the same song.Did a better job on that one. she has long blond hair in that one. Paul shafer is on piano, from Letterman show.

  • Who is the pianist at the grand piano? It's not David Forster, is it?

  • He wrote the song I think so it may be him..

  • I agree with ilovepeytonnelliott, Two different styles. Faith sing in country and Milinda in pure gospal. Love them both.

  • In fairness to Faith Hill, her verse version is OK , not really that outsung by melinda. But during the chorus, she was destroyed primarily because of the loud choir overpowering her voice. Pity.

  • I love love love love love this son!

  • They both have really good vocals!

  • luv faith hill's version; there's drama in the performance; go faith!

  • Actually there are both equally great. Two different genres doing a great job.

  • I love Melinda's version too, but you have to reember this was just a few days after the 9/11 attacks. Emotions were high. I do agree, however, that Melinda is the better voice.

  • okay. i have to agree. melinda doolittle did kinda outsing faith here.

  • watch out pop stars, the idols are coming and taking your fans and your awards.

  • Wow, Melinda from Idol definitely outsung Faith!

  • Wow, Melinda from Idol definitely outsang Faith!

  • OMG, Melinda version is so much better. Wow, I'm speechless.

  • I prefer Faith Hill to Melinda's version!! Way to go Faith <3

  • I love both, but believe Melinda's version more, it had more passion, just wished she sang the whole song. Way to go Melinda and Faith.

  • Agreed, Melinda's version had much more power

  • I hate to say this but Melindas versions of the originals is much better. sorry faith :/

  • Faith has soul! She always has, but mainly sticks to country and pop. She should record a Gospel Album!

  • some singers don't sound so good singin live, it's good to know that faith hill can sing live and i think this proves it.

  • I'm not much of a Faith Hill fan. But this...mmm. Amazing.

  • This is so great, she is an amazing singer.

  • Faith is gorgeous, and she sings this song like she means it! I hope more people realize that "There WILL Come a Day" and are ready. Great Song and Video!!!

  • Brilliant performance. I found it interesting how she was known for being a glamour girl but opted for a very simple look in this performance...no hair extensions, simpler make-up, and all-black clothes. I think it made the performance even more moving for me, that she took it so seriously at this pivotal moment in American history.

  • GOOSEBUMPS every time I see this, I remember when it was

    aired, not a dry eye.

  • A great performance by everyone... the choir was beautifully animated and good ol' Paul Shaffer showed his skills in an inspired performace. Faith Hill shined brightly with some powerful singing. One of my faves of all time. A good pick-me-upper. Thanks much for the post marsoupilamis!

  • When I saw this I was like "wow Faith hill is singing about God!" Great song. Powerful!

  • i love this song

  • I remember being swept off my feet when I saw this...and even years later this performance has the same power

  • emotional video! Faith Hill is amazing as usual!

  • @maude205

yah, I entirely think so ,too.

  • emotional video! Faith Hill is amazing as usual!
