  • ... I mean the voice, not the man (though for all I know he might have been that as well)!

  • One of the gentlest and dreamiest tenors I have heard ... please, please, please more of him! I especially like his Danish songs.

  • This si superbe, however Mc Cormack's version is my favourite - the only record of his i actually enjoy.

The worst is Tito Schipa's ehre he breaks runs and is generally terrible

  • Such beautiful singing, and I love the portamento!

  • Marvellous.

  • @kritikerdude I know what you mean but cannot entirely agree. McCormack's singing of this aria is considered by many, including myself, the gold standard. True, he makes little contrast in the middle section, but the runs and breath control are quite wonderful. Jadlowker and Alva are also very good, as well as a few others.

  • Absolutely amazing. Effortless, full of strength but nothinig forced or affected. Everything everyone else says he is.

  • sublime

  • Thanks for possting this exceptional rendition. As effortless as a sigh; Mozart sung with ease, finesse and confidence. Now among my favorite tenors. The voice is amazing, and so lacking in bravado and affectation.

  • This is mozart!!! OMG

  • Yes, it is a very nice natural tone. He does take liberty with doing some portamenti. Diction's a bit off. BUT a beautiful sound. I rather singers use their natural tone than put on a fake voice. Aksel has a great weight of tone.

Thanks for posting this track :)

  • This is an impeccable rendition: elegant, virile, full of baritonal stamina.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Wonderful wonderful! My all-time favourite tenor! Did you know that they have released all of his old recordings on 10 CD:s?( a box, I suppose.) Gerald Moore says in his memoirs "Am I too loud?" that he had only accompanied 2 tenors who didn´t talk about themselves all the time. One of them was Aksel! (I wonder who the other one was?)

  • The other one was Gedda!

  • What a sweet rendition! I love the light quality of his voice. Also, his negotiation of the scales and runs is wonderful - ditto for the big leaps!
