@jferristube The Bible was written over a period of 1500 years,has historical, archaeological, documentary (thousands), and prophetic evidence supporting it. The BOM has 9 rewrites and only JS's word to support it. Plus we know who JS was (not a perfect God-man like Jesus) we know his influences, occultism, spiritism, free masonry, etc. We know his lifestyle and we know that his beliefs disagree with the Bible and his actions proved this. The BOM is in NO way comparative to the Bible.

The bible vs the book of mormon and the DNA vs the book of mormon have mormons archeologists and DNA experts doing the research and study. Please watch them and let me know what you thought. For one thing, I do have other ministries to other false religions, and for another, they do the same thing I do. Brigham Young is the 2nd prophet of Mormonism. He was supposedly sellected by Smith himself. That he ordered this massacre (& Young did indeed order this massacre) is as if Jesus himself had ordered such a massacre. What is done by a founder of an institution is utterly different from what is done by just some members of an institution. The actions of a founder touch on what the institution is. Young's actions here call into question his claims of inspiration.

Elder Nelson quotes Whitmer about the translation process in the July 1993 Ensign. Others also saw Joseph use his peep stone in the translation process. Bushman talks about the use of the stone in RSR, and he is a defender of the faith. The church still has his stone! IIRC it was placed on the altar of either the St George or Manti temple during the dedication.

Mormons have short commons that they sweep under a rug. Righteous men of God, like David, had shortcomings that was place in full view in the Bible. How come David can repent for his transgressions, but Mormons can't?
.....Because the LDS leaders do not teach REAL mormon history, but they love to revisit revised history 24/7. IF they were to teach the REAL history of the church it will show that the leaders have taught there members to smoke screen everything that stands against mormonism. It's bad enough they are losing members and that the conversion rate is not in there favor.
The sad part is that when I check FARMS reviews of books that are critical of the LDS faith, I see mostly ad hominid attacks against their credentials or motives for writing their books. They don't take the content seriously, even though a serious scholar wrote it. Bagely wrote a great book on Mountain Meadows Massacre (received several awards for his research) and FARMs says he wrote this book with an agenda of proving involvement by Brigham Young.
...Yeah FARMS is just a professional extension of the LDS way of saying that the naysayers are wrong, or that they are misinformed, or they misinterpret the text...and so on. It's a faith that continues to find itself defending its belief, history, and teachings because they themselves cannot justify the true nature of mormonism.
I just wanted to add that FARMS is officially part of BYU since Gordon B. Hinckley made it so in 1999. He was very excited about it!!
So FARMS-BYU is what I consider to be the correct name, since they're directly run & funded by the MORmON cult hierarchy & BYU.
The head of BYU's board is of course PRophet Thomas S. Monson & the rest of the First Presidency, so they are directly running & funding FARMS, which is part of BYU.

@jferristube The Bible was written over a period of 1500 years,has historical, archaeological, documentary (thousands), and prophetic evidence supporting it. The BOM has 9 rewrites and only JS's word to support it. Plus we know who JS was (not a perfect God-man like Jesus) we know his influences, occultism, spiritism, free masonry, etc. We know his lifestyle and we know that his beliefs disagree with the Bible and his actions proved this. The BOM is in NO way comparative to the Bible.

Oddly enough the Southern Baptist Convention apologized for it's role in Slavery in 1995.
Based on these passages:

There's a huge difference there. Hitler used "Christianity" to justify what he did, but it was found nowhere in the Bible. What Christians do wrong is irrelevant because their very beliefs condemn their actions. Mormonism teaches this crap as doctrine. So yes, the leaders of the church should apologize and remove the doctrine.
How would Jesus have answered it? He would have told her she's wrong. Read Matt. 23 and Luke 12. If Mormonism is anywhere in the Bible, it's there.

I am often asked why I "bash" Mormons & their church, & why I don't focus on other churches. For one thing, I do have other ministries to other false religions, and for another, they do the same thing I do. Brigham Young is the 2nd prophet of Mormonism. He was supposedly sellected by Smith himself. That he ordered this massacre (& Young did indeed order this massacre) is as if Jesus himself had ordered such a massacre. What is done by a founder of an institution is utterly different from what is done by just some members of an institution. The actions of a founder touch on what the institution is. Young's actions here call into question his claims of inspiration.

Have you ever heard of the concept of plausible deniability? Young wanted to set himself up as a priest king of his own little empire. Making his people willing soldiers in this cause required him to vilify outsiders. The attack on these Missourians is directly linkable to the hate filled sermonizing he performed & what he inspired in others. He only pretended to have no direct link to these actions. He rewarded the perpetrators.

The fact that is was mentioned is to be kept in the context that the apostle also gave a greater mention to the gold plates urim and thummim method, which is in direct conflict with the cat in the hat theory. They both can't be true, because Oliver wrote about the plates and urim and thummim and never mentioned a rock in a hat. Why? Maybe because he was THERE and actually tried to translate the plates too once, failed, but he tried. Emma never tried that.

He mentions the holocaust as if to make a good point, but I don't see the Jews asking the Germans to apologize at this point, and I don't see it continually being thrown up in the German's faces year to year.
But we have an event, multiple orders of magnitude less in significance, and Shawn insults the holocaust victims and families by comparing THAT horrific event to the MMM. Now that's only hate than can motivate that kind of bias and resentment over something the church didn't even do!

Its all crazy talk! No one can prove that LDS leaders were implicitly or directly involved in the MMM. No one can prove that.
But we have people that absolutely seem to "know" that this was the case. How do they "know" this? Its anti-mormonism, because they don't know. Do they have a "testimony?" I think that they don't have that, because they mock mormons for ever saying they have one, and call it emotionalism. But we see the emotion here in this video. The passive aggressive anger.

We do know that BY covered up the MMM. There is a great deal of evidence that show he he is an accessory to the massacre after the fact. It is true that there is no direct evidence proving that he ordered it. However, he was the military and spiritual dictator of the those who did the killings. Nothing happened in the state without his blessing. I find it hard to fathom that the killers would take the action they did if they did not think they had the blessing of Brigham Young.

That's another thing you can't prove, but the only thing they glob onto, is the hat account. It was an APOSTATE of the Church, who had NOTHING to do with the translation process, giving an account of things that DIRECT CONTRADICTS the account given by Oliver Cowdery who was the principle scribe and saw the use of the Gold Plates, indeed he tried to translate too, and he talked of the Urim and Thummim, and NEVER MENTIONED THE HAT.

Elder Nelson quotes Whitmer about the translation process in the July 1993 Ensign. Others also saw Joseph use his peep stone in the translation process. Bushman talks about the use of the stone in RSR, and he is a defender of the faith. The church still has his stone! IIRC it was placed on the altar of either the St George or Manti temple during the dedication.
For you to say that only one apostate references the stone in a hat is either ignorant or deceptive on your part.

Joseph Smith didn't even use the plates in the "translation" at all & this is also verified by many, like Issac Hale, Martin Harris & Joseph Smith Sr....stating that they were "hid in the woods", "in a box in the mountains", etc, etc!!
The fraud of the BOM is so great that Joseph Smith even "translated" word for word from the Bible, including the ERRORS!!!!

Hyrum's wife, Mary Fielding Smith, kept the faith, and her son became a future prophet! Emma's son became nothing. She ruined her son through her apostasy. Joseph had to be disappointed.

If Whitmer was alone in his description then I think you could be correct in dismissing his account. However there are many others who give a similar account.
Its your right to believe whatever you want to without doing any research. However, that makes it impossible to have an intelligent conversation about church history (especially in such a place as YouTube). If you have not read Bushman yet, please do. I think you would find it education and faith promoting. It is a safe book for a TBM.

No, there comes a time when you can just look at the SCRIPTURES, know they are true, and SEE that they are in conflict with theories of men, even histories of men (are the all correct? no.), and you can dismiss it.

One of the irritating things I've found is that when a Mormon can no longer fight against the Word of God that I (at least in the beginning) show them graciously they resort to this kind of avoidance technique "...you're not being Christian, Jesus wouldn't be like that". Mormonism is just not Christian which is what gets me all fired up.

Do Americans think, "We'll there was slavery once, but it is not important so let us just forget about it?" No! We teach it as part of American history in public schools. Mormons have short commons that they sweep under a rug. Righteous men of God, like David, had shortcomings that was place in full view in the Bible. .....Because the LDS leaders do not teach REAL mormon history, but they love to revisit revised history 24/7. IF they were to teach the REAL history of the church it will show that the leaders have taught there members to smoke screen everything that stands against mormonism. It's bad enough they are losing members and that the conversion rate is not in there favor.

The sad part is that when I check FARMS reviews of books that are critical of the LDS faith, I see mostly ad hominid attacks against their credentials or motives for writing their books. They don't take the content seriously, even though a serious scholar wrote it. Bagely wrote a great book on Mountain Meadows Massacre (received several awards for his research) and FARMs says he wrote this book with an agenda of proving involvement by Brigham Young.

I just wanted to add that FARMS is officially part of BYU since Gordon B. Hinckley made it so in 1999. He was very excited about it!!
So FARMS-BYU is what I consider to be the correct name, since they're directly run & funded by the MORmON cult hierarchy & BYU.
The head of BYU's board is of course PRophet Thomas S. Monson & the rest of the First Presidency, so they are directly running & funding FARMS, which is part of BYU.
