the bass is supposed to be gated to make that wub-wub sound that comes in and out every 2 steps... hence the name dubstep (double-step) so this technically just bass music and not dubstep.

Dubstep is actually 140bpm but the drums are half timed. This sounds more like house music.

The whole wub-wub thing is meant to double the slow syncopated drums. I should know dude I'm from the UK. We invented this shit years ago and the North Americans only just clocked on to it.

@mahlithebest And you do not know what 4/4 means.Dubstep is 4/4,but yes the kick rides on the 3rd beat in the measure,giving it a 70 bpm type feel.Also it does not matter where you are from man,I really hope you are just joking around.The term "dub" in dubstep means they were taking from the reggae "dub" sound.The "wub-wub" has nothing to do with it and came much later.You should check up on your history man.

What PucciPucce was trying to say is that the Pads are numbered 1 - 16 from the left...I have a MPC 4000 and you have to arrange your pads so that you can be comfortable when making beats...

@bambamltd But your comment I'm assuming you got into dubstep last year or so. Dubstep has been around since 2006 or before. The beat and the bassline exhibited in this video is exactly what dubstep is(was) all out about. Hypnotic basslines, tribalesque rhythms, etc. The sound has evolved and changed but don't get think that the mid-rangey chainsaw stuff is all that dubstep is about. Because it is not. It is much deeper than some of the cheesy over-processed mess being released today.
