Scotty Mac is so frustrating. He always scores for Celtic but he can never put the ball into the back of the net for Australia. Every game he always comes close.
i think mark bosnich is still taking cocaine, he is the worst commentator. Both teams played well, it took a great goal for australia to win it Carney

lol dickhead number 1 its an expression i dont even know u or give a fk about u so ur right im not ur buddy, number 2 i understand nigerias chemistry perfectly as i watched them win the u 17s world cup.. they have technique and physical ability but when it comes to tactics they are not as good as the other african teams such as cameroon or ivory coast
HAHAHAHAHA a fool? ive been watching and playing the game since i was 5 dikhead, 3rd dont mean shit if u havent won it, and u guys were lucky to win the u 17s, u beat spain on penalties, and bojan kirkic wasnt even in the line up... i guarentee u if we played yous both full strength we'd win again. discussion is over talk to someone else cause i'll ignore the fk outta u
That's so wrong. Cameroun bully their way to victory, and Ivory Coast are just a decent team that plays just normal footie. Nigeria is by far the best team in Africa, and we'll beat Australia comfortably in a competitive game, that's a no stress. For the U-17,Spain were the only team that showed us reasonable competition.
ye ok CAMEROON which is how u spell it won the gold medal at the olympic games in 2000 if u remember clearly, and ivory coast produce some of the best players in the world today, u know drogba? the machine who keeps shevchenko a former european player of the year on the bench, you'd see him alot in the epl :)
A typical anglophonian would always say CAMEROUN. Did you ever watch the Atlanta Olympics in 1996? Nigeria has been World U-17 Champions 3 times,2 Silvers and a bronze in the U-20's,Olympic Gold medalists once (that answers my question above),and of course went to the World Cup for the first time in 1994 and won second best entertaining team behind eventual champions Brazil (which is no embarassment). If Drogba is a machine, then Eto's would be some weapon that would destroy the universe.
No doubt Drogba is good, but I've seen more clinical players in the past from the African continent for Drogba to daze me like he does to you: Theophile Abega,Raber Madja,Roger Milla,George Weah,Abedi Pele,Henry Nwosu,Ladgjer Beloumi,Okocha,Ahmed Elkass,Titi Camara,Rashidi Yekini, and Eto'o (who would always be better than your Drogba).
number 1 he doesnt daze me number 2 i was giving u an example of the world class players in stunning form in this moment of time, number 3 i dont give a shit what u say cause at the end of the day aust won period wether nigeria had their full strength playing or australia. make all the excuses in the world u want.
Of course Australia won the "training match" no doubt, playing such a game without key men is no excuse for defeat, afterall its called the NATIONAL TEAM.If I can recall the last time we played Australia in a "REAL" battle,it was at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, tell me the scores after your very thorough research. And ur question was- U know Drogba? That is being SPECIFIC. guess U can now give a shit!!!
LOL yous beat us at the death when we came back from 2-0 down and equalised, then yous beat us 3-2. u know what i pray to god nigeria is in the same group as us at the world cup so we can settle this, without u bitching and making excuses saying that game was a training match. keep in mind we had key players out of that "training match" too :)
U rather not pray that prayer, this is not cricket at all. Don't get me wrong,Australia has very good players,my favourite being Cahill:He has the die hard thing to his game.I love ur team, and respect their style. But the Nigerian team is very strong at the moment,it would be a very good game, but I just have a feeling we would win such a game.U guyz completely outplayed us in that game, but we're never serious with friendlies.
then thats the difference between the mentality of both teams, we take EVERY game serious and have a never say die attitude, ur players would prob be more technically gifted as individuals but as a tactical unit, aust can be very dangerous
True. But sometimes detemination and resilience pays off just as it did for Italy against U guyz at the last World Cup. The Nigerian team sometimes resorts to these in hard times. But no matter how serious a team takes a friendly game,it can never be the same level of seriousness in a semi-final game of a significant tourney.Nerves rack, mistakes come to the fore, good players missing penalty kicks,so much drama,so much tension, and in the end the very tactical unit may not win.
man its in the australians blood to have determination and resilience what u talking bout? dont u remember the aust - japan game. we have this never say die attitude even if we're losing 2-0. if u saw our domestic league the a-league, youd see those teams doing that all ther time.
hey u know nothing about football stop making a fool of urself. who is drogba compared 2 the likes jj okacha, kanu nwankwo in his days, martins at inter milan 2 metion but a few.drogba is not a play maker.
stop talking rubbish, when the fk did i say drogba is a play maker idiot! i was talking about the african players who were in fine form at the time and dont even compare urself with me ill destroy u in knowledge of football, ive played and watched the game all my life.
well, ive never watched and play football all my life hahaha. i can see u have a lot of mouth, i dont ague with basket mouth like u. im coming 2 adelaide this december hope 2 meet in field and show u how we do it. but i dont blame u. its never a news when a lion kills a goat but its a big news when a goat kills a lion. the bottom line is that australia won but u shouldnt compare our players with Drogba, he is just lucky and got media by his side.
see not only are u a dumb ass but u cant read at the same time. i never compared drogba to any of ur players, i was just saying he was in fine form at the time. end of discussion, u can reply to this comment but ill simply ignore u. have a nice life :)
we have better players. Carney's on the rise after playing for Sydney, Scott Mcdonald's been on fire for Celtic lately, Nick Carle's a future star. Add in Cahill, Bresciano, Emerton, Grella and Viduka, Kewell. If all these guys are fit and injury free then we should have no problem in qualifying for 2010
You guys played our second team. No Kanu and Utaka (Portsmouth) No Obi Mikel (Chelsea)etc the guys who played(minus Obafemi and a few) were trying to book there places in the national team. Thank you Socceroos for the 'training' match!lol
We'll deal with you guys later...stay at 40 on fifa ranking pls
Look at the 1st team players that we (Socceroos)were missing. You should know at least 2-3 of these names: Marco Bresciano, Vinnie Grella, Mark Viduka (haven't heard of him? You're mad)), Tim Cahill (Everton - same deal as Viduka), etc. You had 3 big names missing - we had at least 4-5.
i can understand the bitter taste u have in your mouth of defeat.. one other thing, we had cahill, bresciano, grella and viduka all unavailable so stop making excuses.
So your excuse is that Nigeria weren't playing their 1st team so you expected a loss. That is not an excuse. All that excuse points out is that Nigeria have no depth in their squad and that without the 3 players you mentioned, your squad is crap, great national team you have there...
Don't think that you lost because YOU were missing star players - we dominated you and possession, and when we have our full strength side against you next time, we can do the same! You still have a great team, though. Players like Martins only come along once in a generation of footballers.
wait a minute. this was on foxtel? I could not find it when i went through cable tv guide
btw FUCK SBS for not having enough money to keep sooceroos games free to air & fuck the government for not putting socceroos games on the anti siphon list
that's why you vote labor this w.end.. their putting all national team on the anti-siphoning list and pumping 32 million into the national development plan
And another question: the commentators keep refering to "socceroos", is that australia's team nickname in soccer? I find it cute ! lol Kiss from France.
yeah its just a thing we have here, for every sporting team in australia (well most of then anyway), they have nicknames for 'em. eg: socceroo (Football), Boomers (Basketball), Wallabies (Rugby union) kangaroos (rugby league) and so on :)
I'm afraid it only ranks about the 3rd or 4th most popular domestic sport behind Aussie Rules, Rugbly league and Rugby Union. However internationally it's one of the most popular sports here, if not THE most popular. It's also the most popular youth sport here.
This was a fantastic result, particularly in response to criticisms of our performances in the Asian cup. The asian cup is behind us now, what matters is winning our games in the asian qualifying stages for the 2010 world cup. This victory, though it is a friendly, strengthens our hope that we won't be waiting another 32 years for a world cup berth.
Great to see Harry Kewell starring again for Australia, he really brings invaluable experience to the Australian line-up. What is the greatest player we have is Mark Schwarzer. It is fair to say that he really has been the difference for Australia. His stunning saves & clean-sheets was what separated Australia from Nigeria. What we also need to work on is our preparation for the 2010 world cup. Socceroos, 21 million australians are behind you!
Not to be pessimistic or anything, but as a nigerian, I have to say we played without heart. the highlights are full of australian chances so how can anyone say that we played well?
we couldn't even manage a draw...how sad
I dunno what berti vogts is doing, but even the players, a few of which were maybe fringe players - did not play with any hunger.
Great Goal by Nicky Carle, but I still think that nigeria could've done better.
Haha, I think that was the f-bomb by Nicky Carle, but otherwise a pretty good performance by Australia. What a goal! Entertaining match, cheers for the upload
FIFA ranking has got australia ranked unfairly, if we can beat nigeria then we should at least be in the 30's..Nigeria are a great side even though they didnt have Utaka and Kanu which are their only other good players..
the defeat notwithstanding, Nigeria are still a strong team. They played well, only that luck deprived them of victory. They have beaten Australia more than once. Another encounter between will not between bot teams will not give Australia cause to rejoice too much. All the same, this was a fantastic and entertaining match. Good luck to both sides.
WHAT THE FUCK DDE,THAT IS NOT FAIR!!! he was probably the greatest goalier that the aussies ever had! and you sit hear ripping on him of what he did like 6 ears ago? your a cunt!
it was a joke, geez... I would have said the same thing about Ben Cousins or Andrew Johns. Don't know if he's a smart chap though, I don't know too many smart chaps who have screwed up their lives as bad as he did.
I was at the game and yes, it was very entertaining. We played very well and we deserved the win BUT we still have a lot of work to do. We are still finding it way too hard to put the ball in the net. If it wasn't for some amazing saves by Schwarzer it would have been a very different result indeed.
i'll agree: it was a very entertaining game. I'm aussie and even i'll admit that nigeria weren't playing at the best. except maybe their keeper at times
This is the worst performance i've ever seen by Nigeria, absolutely pathetic. From what i am seeing, it looks like we might not get past drogba and the Ivory coast in the first round of the african nations cup. Typical of the nigerian FA, making pathetic decisions in terms of coach hiring. What a shame.
I can't believe we lost to Australia, i know we didn't have our best players around, but its no excuse to loose to the aussies especially on a neutral ground. That's why i was never a fan of our coach in the first place, his record is pathetic, they should have put a world class coach there instead.
I think you are selling us a bit short buddy. Much to your disbelief, we do have a talented squad, sure, not the best squad out there but a good squad that can do great things. You shouldn't feel ashamed you lost to us, you were just unlucky. Great game anyway.
It's always frustrated me how so many people ask what happened during the Asian Cup. Considering that most of the socceroos play in English weather, the answer should be obvious.
Wow! This looked like a thrilling game. Virile football from Australia and touches of class from Nigeria. Lovely goal from Carle, it was goal of appropriate quality to settle such an excellent contest. Hope both these teams make 2010 because they both have much to contribute.
Good performance by the guys. I thought we'd miss Grella in the middle, but we handled things pretty well without him. Carle was impressive, hopefully he can build on this. He has great potential.
That's the point my man We had to get rid of the bad eggs on our team. Although our players were clumsy and naive they were hungry just like the stars of USA '94. Australia are a great team and I hve no shame in losing to them but the future looks bright for us.
I personally think that in 2 years time Australia will have the stongest football team in our history. Watching the Olroos (Australians Under 23's team) play and then watching the Socceroos play has given me alot of confidence about Australia's future. We must remember that for the Nigerian game Australia was missing players like Cahill, Grella and Bresciano all of whom are very skilled players. Bring on 2010
my god this was impressive - best game ive seen from australia - i think based on the last friendly against argentina and this one we are definitely starting to play to the same standards as many top class teams.
Some of the passing and one-twos were just brilliant and reminded me of some top-flight clubs in england. David Carney has shown yet again the exciting player he is.
why? both squads are made up primarily of europe-based players. if it was in australia nigeria would be even more depleted, and they'd probably be playing the a-league's best
I think Nicky Carle proved his worth as a starting XI player. Great Game. Good goal too, but there was probably 3 other situations where Carney had a crack, but clearly the better option would have been to pass to the free man square in front of goal. Best game the Aussies have had for some time. Schwarzer was great as well.
Nicky Carle put a man of the match performance that day, Oseik put him on the team!

Great Goal by Nicky Carle, but I still think that nigeria could've done better.
mitdx 4 years ago
Trust me my man Nigeria played with heart. The only thing that let us down was midfield. Australia dominated us in the middle of the park.
mazzoan 4 years ago
Haha, I think that was the f-bomb by Nicky Carle, but otherwise a pretty good performance by Australia. What a goal! Entertaining match, cheers for the upload

FIFA ranking has got australia ranked unfairly, if we can beat nigeria then we should at least be in the 30's..Nigeria are a great side even though they didnt have Utaka and Kanu which are their only other good players..
Martin199169 4 years ago
yeah, the reason were low on the rankings is coz we dont get as much games as other nations!
chicken1133 4 years ago
the defeat notwithstanding, Nigeria are still a strong team. They played well, only that luck deprived them of victory. They have beaten Australia more than once. Another encounter between will not between bot teams will not give Australia cause to rejoice too much. All the same, this was a fantastic and entertaining match. Good luck to both sides.

Is that Mark Bosnich commentating? If so he sounds like he's on Speed and that wouldn't be suprising.
DanTube2008 4 years ago
that`s John Bosnich, his twin brother.
ziegheil0264 4 years ago
No it is Mark Bosnich, and screw his persecutors because I thought he commentated very well. No surprise since he is a smart chap.
RoarFan23 4 years ago
WHAT THE FUCK DDE,THAT IS NOT FAIR!!! he was probably the greatest goalier that the aussies ever had! and you sit hear ripping on him of what he did like 6 ears ago? your a cunt!
chicken1133 4 years ago
it was a joke, geez... I would have said the same thing about Ben Cousins or Andrew Johns. Don't know if he's a smart chap though, I don't know too many smart chaps who have screwed up their lives as bad as he did.
DanTube2008 4 years ago
I was at the game and yes, it was very entertaining. We played very well and we deserved the win BUT we still have a lot of work to do. We are still finding it way too hard to put the ball in the net. If it wasn't for some amazing saves by Schwarzer it would have been a very different result indeed.

this was not a good performance by either side but nigeria can play alot better and i mean alot

Where was Martins and his handspring Frontflip and all that. Geez he's a great player.
Anyway guys from all the way over in Nigeria, good game, thanks for the Friendly and we look forward to our next match.

i'll agree: it was a very entertaining game.

What a shame.

beanny55555 4 years ago
I can't believe we lost to Australia, i know we didn't have our best players around, but its no excuse to loose to the aussies especially on a neutral ground. That's why i was never a fan of our coach in the first place, his record is pathetic, they should have put a world class coach there instead.
daveibukun 4 years ago
I think you are selling us a bit short buddy. Much to your disbelief, we do have a talented squad, sure, not the best squad out there but a good squad that can do great things. You shouldn't feel ashamed you lost to us, you were just unlucky. Great game anyway.

It's always frustrated me how so many people ask what happened during the Asian Cup. Considering that most of the socceroos play in English weather, the answer should be obvious.

Brilliant game, fabulous goal. Fans really got value there. I hope both teams make it to South Africa in 2010 because they both have much to offer.
Impossible71 4 years ago

He has great potential.

good game. Nigeria's goalkeeper got a workout.
Nigeria definitely needs work on their transition game before Ghana '08.

good game for australia, apart from martins and odemwingie we did not have any core player.

Bring on 2010
ykickamoocow 4 years ago
my god this was impressive - best game ive seen from australia - i think based on the last friendly against argentina and this one we are definitely starting to play to the same standards as many top class teams.
Some of the passing and one-twos were just brilliant and reminded me of some top-flight clubs in england. David Carney has shown yet again the exciting player he is.
glra2222 4 years ago
what a goal by Carney, why did he choose to go to Sheffield united by the way? he is a greater player than that.

If this was played in Australia, it would have been likely both sides would have been playing there B sides, or even there C sides.

why? both squads are made up primarily of europe-based players. if it was in australia nigeria would be even more depleted, and they'd probably be playing the a-league's best

Looks like Carle had a good game too.
victorytillidie 4 years ago
I think Nicky Carle proved his worth as a starting XI player. Great Game. Good goal too, but there was probably 3 other situations where Carney had a crack, but clearly the better option would have been to pass to the free man square in front of goal. Best game the Aussies have had for some time. Schwarzer was great as well.
