  • rippers vocals are just astounding

  • Nice speed metal version! I remember getting this live album when it came out. I was so curious to hear how this "new Ripper guy" was going to handle the old material. I wish Halford still sounded this good, and he could have, if he quit smoking 20 years ago. Cigarettes can really damage a singer's range. Halford seems to point the mic at the crowd a lot and just can't hit and sustain those crucial stratospheric notes like Ripper does.

  • @apedemartini However Rob's mid range is still strong and clear. He should really be the new singer for Black Sabbath now that Dio has passed and Ozzy is, well, Ozzy. Anyone who's heard those November '92 bootlegs knows he performs Ozzy and Dio eras phenomenally

  • @apedemartini The fact that he's 60 years old and has been singing his throat out for more than 45 years is certainly a factor too, Ripper is still young.

  • @DavidDavidsonful Absolutely, age/long career is a big factor. Even with a loss in higher registers I gotta say he still sings better than a lot of the newer guys on the scene, though.

  • jajaja el pendejo ke le puso ke no le gustaba morira virgen a la verga xD

  • He's a good singer without doubt, but Priest is Halford. Moreover, you just don't change a single fucking thing in songs like these.

  • This version kicks fucking ass!!!!

  • THE DUAL AXE ATTACK OF TIPTON AND DOWNING! YEAH!

  • It would be amazing to hear Halford and Ripper do a duet on this song or even Metal Meltdown!

  • this is the best version of rapid fire i ever heard Ripper is amazing great singer!!!

  • Love the Rage and Energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • damn that scream ripper cuts loose with in the mid section wooo!!!

  • Owens rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the simple fact that they detuned the guitars so low in order for him to sing it makes halford better now and forever by default. end of story.

  • @megapurify it´s just a halftone step down. jugulator was detuned, that why they played everything else detuned too. in 40 days and I see them again for the last time but without K.K. :( Hail to the Metal Gods!

  • Dude i can notice the voice is of Axl Rose O_O

  • I agree....

  • i think i prefer this version than the original ..

  • Kurwa coś pięknego!

  • my gaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwdddddddddddddddddd

  • Ripper kills it here for sure...and it's not Rob Vs Tim - we got them both....Tim will be singing JP songs for years to come, long after they are gone. The guitar players for Halfords band - Metal Mike and Roy Z....are incredible and the LOVE Glenn and KK - those are there heroes. Rob is Tim's HERO - why attack Tim Owens for kicking ass when given the chance? The entire album is great.

  • imho chorus sucks, but Owens on the other side... ripped this song so badly :)

  • vocals suck big time !!! the ripper = a joke

  • @swordbutcher shut the fuck up, keep your oppinions to yourself you fuck, no one gives a damn what you think

  • @ChaosMaster7 the real judas priest is with rob halford, everyone knows that. this 'singer' sucks big time. now go fuk yo mommy, I just kicked my dog off her, you chaosmasterpussy wahahaha xD

  • @swordbutcher swordbutcher = a joke

  • @swordbutcher F*ck You :*

  • 1:57-3:02 is like a bomb goinh off in your heaf

  • @Matt0I0Attack

    HELL YEAH!

  • awesome song tim !!1

  • this version is lame compared to the original

  • I loved this version live for no other reason than they actually played it, which they hadn't done for year. And Ripper does a great job.

Kind of makes me wonder what it would have been like if Ralf Scheppers of Gamma Ray had joined. Hell Kai Hansen if he wasn't awesome enough in his own band.

  • @TheGTJunk no Gamma Ray without Priest, but they rock too!!!

  • This version kicks ass!!!! Ripper had some big shoes to fill, and he did so admirably. I saw them 5 times during his tenure, and he never failed. Halford has done nothing but disappoint since his return. He has no range anymore, but that's what 30 years of being the greatest screamer in metal will do.And his presence onstage is still unbeatable. But vocally, he's toast. And this is coming from a lifelong fan. I'll still be there front row next tour. Priest rules!!!

  • @Cmartelful watch halford hit some high notes like the one on the 30th year british steel tour in hollywood. like at the end of metal gods, and then tell me he has no range anymore

  • Maybe I am just an old school JP fan... but there is no beating Rob. This song...any song... is just a cover as far as I am concerned. The wqhole "rapid fire before you die" part is lame IMHO. I am a purist and there is no Priest if there isn't Rob. I dont mind the Ripper originals... but any of Rob's songs are his...his alone and cannot be improved upon unless its Rob doin' the improvin'

Like I said though... I am a Defender of the Faith.

Rob is, and forever will be, the Metal God!

  • @azrock4ever i would agree with you 100% if it were any other priest song, but he definitely took rapid fire to a new level. though the chorus is gay i'll agree with that, but come one, he screams half the song and it makes my ears bleed, it's awesome

  • @azrock4ever and i have a priest symbol tattooed on my forearm for the whole world to see, so don't say i'm not a true priest/halford fan either lol.

  • @TheMetalGuy852 I salute you!

  • Holy hell, the double bass drum kicked ass, the new chorus worked perfectly, the guitar is way heavier and that wah on the duel was face melting... Way better than the original. Hey, have I told that the double bass drum owned?

  • Halford has a cleaner, more polished voice

Ripper's voice is more rough, and heavy sounding

thats why i love rippers voice on this song more than halford

(halford is still the metal god however)

  • nah, halford in his hay day smoked this in a waterbong.this sounds pretentious!

  • Ripper rulz!

  • I love Halford, but ripper's version owns the original. It fucking pumps me up every time!!!

  • I love Halford, but ripper's version owns the original. It fucking pumps me up every time!!!

  • I love Halford, but ripper's version owns the original. It fucking pumps me up every time!!!

  • Como gran admirador de HALFORD que soy, este tema es inmejorable con Tim Ripper Owens

  • The "Wielding the axe comes the one culmination..." part sounds like a dying chicken...

he wanted to impress with high vocals, but it wasn't meant to be like that...

  • @guitartur Yes it was! They even recorded this version in the studio! KK and Glenn probably wanted the song to get a heavier image. This version is much more powerfull when Ripper sings it. Probably the only Priest song he does better than Halford.

  • Impressive rendition!

Not really a fan of Ripper but he did a pretty good job with this one.

  • HOW 'BOUT THAT!!! Nice ending

  • AWESOME!

  • Scott Travis sounds like a fucking freight train - HELL YEAH

  • My ex GF gave Me this haha

  • @tonyparanoid2010 Fucking awesome ex, maybe she still loves you? Haha.

  • @HeadBangerHippy maybe, She's a mess

  • @tonyparanoid2010 mine gave me a damn paramore cd : /

    talk about painful >:(

    you got lucky there

  • RAPID FIRE BETWEEN THE EYES

    RAPID FIRE TERRYFIES

    RAPID FIRE BEFORE YOU DIE

    RAPID FIIIIIIIIIIRE

When I hear the british Steel version i sing that part.lol

wow i kinda like this better then the original ..

  • Brilliant new vocals to a already cool song! Very powerfull! I think JP's history is more rich having Ripper Owens in their ranks.

  • the dual guitar attack IS judas priest!

  • Ripper is great on this song, Althogh Rob is still much better, Ripper's vocals fits very well with this song also. But Songs for example, like "Victim Of Changes" belongs only to The Metal God, The One and The Only, ROB FUCKIN' HALFORD!

  • This has to be the best version of "Rapid Fire" to me. It bleeds with rage and energy!!

  • @XugarXhampoo Agreed - this is the only Priest song Ripper sings and arranges better than Halford.

  • @XugarXhampoo Absolutely dude! I'm glad someone agrees with me

  • @XugarXhampoo Fuck yeah! I saw them on the Britsh Steel anniversary tour they opened with rapid fire and it was cool but this version with Ripper is fuckin awesome! And I love the way you described it because it absolutely "bleeds with rage and energy"!!!

  • ripper is a demonic entity!

  • This is NOT Rob Halford on vocals. This is Ripper Owens, who filled in for Rob Halford while he pursued side projects. Rob Halford came back to Judas Priest later.

Rob Halford was the #1 voice in metal history, but Ripper Owens had a great voice himself -- and better than Halford in his older age.

Judas Priest the band lays it down no matter what with the DOUBLE GUITAR ATTACK of Tipton and Downing.

  • Ripper didn't exactly "fill in" for Halford while "he persued side projects". Ripper got the part in the band as a permanent member, until Halford decided to return. Prerty much the same situation with Blaze Bailey in Iron Maiden when Dickinson decided to return.

  • uch please done use iron maiden in a comparison with judas priest -_-

  • @tcarstar33 Lets wait for Owen when he pass 60 + age ;)

  • i jsut saw them live last sunday and they are even more badass live, incredible.... i hope i see them again someday

  • voice kicks ass at 2:03 it goes to another level.

  • Ripper must be return to Judas Priest

  • AGREE. Halford is the METAL GOD, but I've seen both live and RIPPER RULES!!!

  • i prefer riding on the wind

  • This is the best version o this song i have heard. In most cases i believe that Halford is better then Ripper, but the more i listen to this song i get the feeling of that Halford got alot to learn from Ripper.

  • In everything, even war, when learning from an opposite, it's mutual

    Give and take, it happens

But Halford is better than Ripper

I believe to say that Halford is a king and Ripper is becoming a general

  • ripper kicks asses!

  • I don't like the Ripper Era so much. It lost very much of the brilliancy Judas Priest had with Halford. But Ripper is a good singer. I prefer the Painkiller era and the actual.

  • IMO Ripper was the best!

  • The Ripper did a pretty awesome version here, but of course, Halford is the only Metal God. And they've added a chorus to this version, that's not on the British Steel-version, and that makes it even more awesome. Wow, Ripper gotta be my favourite vocalist after Halford..!

  • @ruudinho23 stop saying what people want to hear,,say what you mean,,,you will be better off in the end

  • @gregsmusic1 I meant every single word.

  • fucking powerful!

  • I love the heavy sound of Priest with Owens.

It sounds so dark and brutal

  • Those 2 Ripper albums blow Nostradamus out of the water, Halford's vocals are shot, I hope that touring helps strengthen his voice a bit more, Tim Owens has had no luck, fired from Priest and Iced Earth, still it's 2 jobs any vocalist would kill for

  • Nostradamus sucks... I'm a bit worried about future of the Priest.

  • It still sold in the top ten biggest sellers of 08, so financially they're fine, but musically i think they're in trouble, i'm going to see them with testament and megadeth end of the month, so i'll tell you if they're shot live too

  • So how was Halford live? Personally i find Angel of retribution an amazing album, but nostradamus was just WEIRD.

Anyways KK, Glenn, Ian and Halford are an army of metal legends, so plz dnt slam them :)

  • They had a 2 day break before playing Wembley, so Rob's voice was on fine form, the band were absolutely on fire, that night, blew Testament and Megadeth offstage , a truly superb performance, Testament were better in the club I saw them play 2 nights before in front of 300 people,

  • I think the next Priest album will see them get back to what we expect from them, Nostradamus was something they'd wanted to do for a long time for themselves imo, the next album will go back to what they do best

  • yeah hope they go back to angel of retribution/ painkiller style. Hard riffs with halford screaming :D

  • it'd be koo

wanna hear them reinvent that tho and set a standard for 2000's metal

  • never heard tim hes good

  • Don't even dare compare Owens to Halford, come on. There is only one and that is Halford. Long live the (original) Priest!

  • FUCKIN' IRATE, MATE, STICK IT UP YOUR ASSES AND ENJOY IT, pure adrenalin, British Heavy Metal, but Owens is not British, Halford is, if Owens didn't make Priest sound good, Halford would of kicked his American ass, "YOU WANKER!!"

  • One of the best vocals ever...

  • Priest's best live album...I love the Ripper era, personally...

  • The Ripper ripping it up. Awesome.
