  • Give the kid a break maybe he's just an apprentice learning his trade ,we all had to start somewhere ,keep working at it kid, and don't pay attention to the haters, most of whom, most likely could not pipe piss through a rain barrel ,let alone make an X-Ray quality weld

  • find a new camera man. im not even gonna finnish watching this video.

  • Why do you all care so much ? if you dont like it dont watch it ....I ve been an instructor for 30 yrs

  • Ur a lost hope when it comes to welding!!!!!!!!! Try another trade cuz u suck...!!!!!!!

  • i am a pro welder and have done 6g test numerous times and successfully passed all of the and have been welding for 12 years.and when you re doing it with SMAW,ever if your run is nice and clean, you still have to clean out all impurities with a grinder,it not really grinding,it just like a polish for the next run.if u leave dirt under your run,the x ray inspection is sure to pick it out.but this guys welding is a disaster i must say. Hope all u mr Know it alls learnt something,

  • I am a legend in this business. I've never grinded anything. I've always used the 817 magnetic sub-pass technique. You so called experts need to pull your heads out of your asses.

  • @hermanshapiro ooooooo legend.wow dude. you re a dip shit ha ha ha

  • I would go crazy grinding every tie in

  • that kid,,, should have trained to be a baker

  • @SPmQQse Hand him the camera. I don't think he could do a worse job!

  • Comment removed

  • Me pelas verga

  • a mi ver y lo que me enseño mi maestro es que en desendente no penetra casi estaria mejor si lo apllicas de ascendente

  • i LIke This Job @ welder

  • WTF! No faceshield lookin like a dummy. Lookin real heavy from the outside, he must like to grind.

  • its funny how all you dudes on tjis page spectate, ive been welding pipe for a while now and nothing hes doing here is wrong!!!your grinder is your best friend when you weld ppipe!!!thats real talk!!!!also you can grind on the bevel just as long as you keep it to a minimum!!!your gonna cover all the grind marks with your cap after your filler/hot pass!!!

  • @jeffmomoney your right on the money there mate

  • @jeffmomoney a grinder is an incompitent welder's best friend

  • what chicknshit outfit hires people like that, i bet its a minimum wage job hahahahaha

  • LOLO

  • Works better when you weld from "uncomfortable to comfortable" as far as position.

  • Nice weld or not, use a 9 inch pipe wheel designed for 90 deg. grinding. And do not grind outside the bevel! EVER!

  • You people are retarded.

I've been in this business for 21 years.

I've worked as an QA/QC inspector also, trained by a Level II who spent many years working for Bechtel building nuclear power plants.

There is nothing wrong with his procedure. It is perfectly acceptable what he is doing.

QA/QC specifies the procedures to follow. If you are working for someone who doesn't understand welding qualifications, and makes stupid demands like not being able to use a grinder than too bad for you.

  • @dmfa200 nice insight

  • @dmfa200 its youtube.

people THINK they know what they are talking about.

but i believe that even they know that they dont know what the fuck they are talking about.

    let them trashtalk,

  • @dmfa200 if you worked for betchel you must have been a janitor that guy welding broke all the rules & its embarassing to ALL quality welders

  • @dmfa200 bechtal ,...eh,,,,soyouve faulcified a few reports....?

  • i never grind after the root pass. i do my open roots with 7018HR 1/8th inch rod. only thing i use after that is a hammer and wire brush.

  • I have been doing this for a very long time. If I ever ground outside the bevel, I would have been looking for another job. X-ray wont pass a pipe weld like that.

  • looks like a welding test. must be a beginner..

  • he didnt start weldin till 1:28 into th vid

  • what amperage do you used?

  • GET THEM WAGON TRACKS!

  • 37.5 would be correct what the hell is that, the job I do most of our welding is out of position and xray I wouldn't even think of using a rusty piece of shit pipe like that.

  • For all you wanna be welders, or think you know something about welding, that's proper procedure for stick welding pipe. So don't make comments if you don't know what your talking about.

The only thing I saw wrong, was he should have had a face shield on.

  • @dmfa200 well, im certified in 6g for gtaw, gmaw, and smaw and in the industry im in, if it took someone that much grinding after the root pass, he would be looking fo work elsewhere

  • Preparation must be 37.5 degrees, this ain't.

  • yay! i got MY NCCER! RIGHT NOW

  • u havent finnished the pipe .. what i could tell about the inside is that it was good and smooth .. ya need to finnish the outside .. and u use rutiel electrodes and not basis ones .. the only ones i use are celulose and basis for pipes

  • ese tubo no es ni cedula 80!!!!

  • GRIND BABY GRIND!!! that weld sucks

  • nice deep penatraction on the inside. thats what its all about .. nice welds and for the people who dont know what there talking about his is grinding the out side to make it smooth.. deep inside welds love the vid.....

  • Dude I know how to weld, and I'm might be a 101 in learning pipe welding, but grinding after welding can't be good?...... just can't believe you put welding for the title, and then grind for most of it, new name should be101+1/2 GRINDING PIPE or WHAT NOT TO DUE

  • @rdrac496 ......pipe welding is constant welding and grinding ..this aint no ordinary welding........its high pressure..while ur welding 101 teacher tells u not to weld and grind which is true its the exact opposite in pipe welding..ask someone who knows lol b4 u make an ass outta yourself..if u had or did weld piupe u would know this...

  • Looks like hammered dog shit

  • You're fired dude

    1

  • get this dude some ear plugs

  • that weld sucks!!!

  • has n e body seen a good .slick weld on here all i can find is chicken shit!!!!!!!

  • I would fire you if I saw all that unessary grinding. people only grind if they can't weld right.

  • Too many mistakes and bad habits, pipes should have been bevelled ,root face prepared and pipes tack weld prior fixing to the 6G position.Too much grinding and surface of pipes affected during grinding and considered as defect.Chipping and and cleaning should be done using a cup brush, dangererous way of holding a grinder and no safety during grinding.

  • ok im half way threw the vid and he has not even struck an arc yet

  • WTF? y u post this chicken shit

  • If you take the 6G test, are you allowed to grind?

  • @JustWonderingHowToDo

As a professional welder.. working at a platform oil..grinding is not allowed at all..removing slag is ok..

First of all the position of this welder was wrong especially when he started at the bottom..he can never get a perfect root pass ( way his pointing the welding rod )

Weding errors always occurs on wrong welding position.

  • @JustWonderingHowToDo u are but my teacher never let me he said wat if u didnt have one on the job for me it was the slag pick and wire brush it sucked

  • Yes, only at the end of stopped bead to get a continous penetration when restarting with a new electrode.no grinding needed if there is a "keyhole''

  • @JustWonderingHowToDo where im from if you grind anywhere visible you fail west texas evco fab

  • Flunked the grinding too. He was grinding without any eye protection when he was grinding between rods.

  • i see you got penetration you pretty good n for all them wannabes dont talk to talk walk to walk

  • For 6G, i used 7018 AWS Electrode

  • 7024 , great rod but would never ever use it on pipe. i.m.o.

  • E7024 is an Iron Powder electrode suitable for welding plates in flat and horizontal position. It is a fast fill electrode

  • more cowbell, i mean grinder!! lol

  • i suggest that if you weld..dont do the grinding for the repair of your pipe..ask someone else to grind so that you the welder have the good quality of welded pipe..

  • This is one of only a few 6G videos on Youtube. This video indicates why so much grinding went on and how difficult this fixed process is due to position of self that allows for constant repositioning per each rod. However, this welder is a novice. The standard test is 1/8 gap and landing for root with 5P. Only the root may be ground. two stringer 3/32-1/8 LH rod for fill with 25%-50% stringer overlap. Final cap may be 2-3 stringer cap that is >1/8 excess; > 3/32 undercut. AWS cert. #7766 (6G)

  • denz7237................not so clear.......

  • lol. a bad welder is an expert at grinding

  • nice grinding video..

  • Well, you're either a good welder or a good grinder.

  • TIG root pass is the way to go now. I've seen some brillant pipe welding here in

australia. Toooo much grinding with stick, tig is just as fast as stick and a lot neater

Even on site work, tig is the first nominated process. good luck

  • @wallabybob12 I agree. The again, if he's welding pipe in the field, either he or his fitter would be grinding it.

  • denz7237...........make it clear so that we will understand the process.......

  • if it was cut rite he wouldnt need all the grinding... I second the new title ...LMFAO

  • its all about grinding!

  • pre, how much amp. for the rootpass?

  • @terador2010 If he's welding 70s (which I'm sure he is) about 100 to 125 amp for 3/32 and 125 for 1/8. But all would depend on his root gap, speed, and if he's key holing.

  • just so happens im a 31 year vet at welding and im a videographer on the side. the taping is so out of position and does the video no help. fuzzy, outa focus. should have set focus so the auto focus doesnt work hard. no pausing for close-ups! this video shows who the welder never was!....great grinding video!

  • @andersonwire dude shut up

  • @andersonwire my dad is an exotic tig welder of 25 years it pays well but its just a job so go and shove your videography up ya arse

  • Should be how to cut out my shitty weld LMFAO

  • is this a how to use a grinder vid?

  • anda chuchetumare ta talas webas tu porkeria yo dueldo soy 6g con smaw y nunca me ha salido como a ti maricon

  • OFFSHORE WELDERS GUIDE ON EBAY

  • He looks like he's new. People need to stop hating and no one is a pro. If you're pro and you know everything then your full of shit. All good journeyman/journey woman constantly learn something new.

So all you bitches shut the fuck up and put up a perfect video on welding then.

My only criticism is that he needs to wear safety glasses and face shield and a respirator. Some welding will strip your enamel off of your teeth, lung cancer, chronic lung issues , etc.

  • 7018 is about the easiest rod to weld with.

  • 7024 is easier...good ol' jet rod welds itself!

  • if this was in the UK for a 6g test dam the out side assesor would have lafed at my face and walked out

  • never seen a grinder used so much on one project.

  • @bobfe360 maybe he had too much high spots????

  • @bobfe360 surface needs to be good for weld.. its for a test.. usually journeyman where i come from.

  • yeah man that not something i would every post on you tube

  • does any one here know how to weld .........7.5G-b31/3-uphill-hrlowHi downhill9p+ cause IM THE BEST AT It!!!!!!!!!!!

  • never tried this kind of welding..looks sort of hard to get used to, how much would this position of welding pay?

  • hell of a nice weld....for a retard monkey

  • wow i could have learned the same if this ol boy had a fuckin sparkler in his hand!lol

  • root pass was not so good.......

  • FUGLY that means FUCKIN UGLY

  • Good day!!thanks for the video provided free for us amateurs who wants to learn ur craft.May you make more video about this field and please, provide some good quality video,PLEASE???Thanks again bro.

  • LMFAO!

  • agreed

  • para que grabaron ese video haciendo esa cagada solamente la forma de preparar la`probeta o anillo lo dice todo esa no es la forma de realizar un bisel trata de aprender bien en una posicion mas comoda por ejemplo 2g, 3g, 4g

  • i remeber when i first started welding....

nice fit up on that pipe, can you see straight?

  • where is the capping weld?

    is that all?grinding!!

  • woooooaaaahhhhh

  • learn how to grab stinger first of all, and remember: bad am position lead to an ugly weld 100 proved!!!

  • misleading title for video, should be : "how to grind 6g pipe"

  • Please set that camcorder to manual focus next time.

  • thats what i told the dummy! hes got more negative comments than positive. whats that tell you?

  • Aprende primero en otra pocision, por q en 6g te falta mucho,te puedo asegurar q tu penetración fue nefasta, para mi en visual estas reprobado y radiografiado peor, lastima de instalaciones, hechale ganas y sigue practicando novato.

  • yeah dude i would seriously check your settings. You can also tell when you speed up slow down and change the angle of the electrode in your weld. try to keep everything constant ... speed angle , and dont be scared to stoop and restart if your able to do it properly

  • better luck next time

  • everytime you have to stop and grind you have to make another start I HAVE TAKEN 6 6G PIPE TESTS IN 22 YEARS AND PASSED THE XRAY AND THE BEND TESTS WITH 6010 ROOT AND 7018 COVER JUST TAKE YOUR TIME IT WILL COME.

  • primero que aprendan los dos uno a grabar y el otro a soldar

  • u need to push the rod in more so it will be in the inside not the outside

  • The homemade welding positioner is pretty cool.

  • you are not so good look at your welding performance is very bad....cunts
