  • Yeah I reload these for about $0.40 a round

  • I would love an Arisaka even if it were just to show people if i couldn't find ammo. Just imagine the history behind some of those rifles.

  • Oh yeah by far the kar98

  • This is not the king of bolt action rifle.... If anything it's the k98

  • The king of boltaction rifles.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuicideSilenceLIFTED

It reads "9 9 Type" in Japanese on the receiver, and shoots 7.7 Japanese.

Also my Type 38 has a longer barrel than this rifle.

  • @ytykg But it might be a Type 38 cavalry rifle O_O

  • @ytykg Oh wait sorry you are correct, this the short type of the type 99.

  • AKA the m38

  • I bought one yesterday

  • Another $7.50 in ammo gone...

  • Even the last ditch model arisaka type 99 shoots surprisingly well, I was given my rifle and I love the thing to death lol

  • I have one, that i'm considering selling, anyone interested email chezk2@yahoo.com. W/ bayonet.

  • @mkahn1999 You ship to Australia?

  • damn it run smooth as hell, and power!!!

  • for those of you that say its a shitty wepoan it still managed too kill a lot of mariens ........ thousands of them

  • 日本の技術は世界一!!

  • holy shit! I wanna buy the arisaka!! please tell me where i can get one!! please!!

  • @TheStickUpKid187

These are only available second hand. Most were dumped into the ocean, Tokyo bay, or given to the Koreans, and the Chinese after the war. Bring backs are pretty much the only options. There were a few imported awhile back, but not anymore.

  • @ytykg is it possible to buy one online?

  • Oh and anyone know where i can find a type 38? i found ammo just can't find the gun

  • @swim2themooon

I'm just the opposite. I have the rifle, but no ammo. The dang stuff is just too expensive for me to justify buying it right now. As for were to find one. I managed to trade a Swiss K31 for mine from a friend. They are only available second hand as most were bring backs. The US army had those not taken as souvenirs dumped into places like Tokyo bay.

  • I'm going to buy a type 99 but i have to get a new pin for it and a new safety

  • @hooecamel The type 99 basically has 0 recoil due to it's weight.

  • what is the recoil like compared to a 30-06 i have a type 99 and a 30-06 bolt action but never fired my type 99 ammo to expensive

  • where can i buy one of these i have a Mosin Nagant 91 30 in good condition adn a Kar 98 is excellent condetion but i cant find one Arisaka 99 on the internet other that parts and peices.

  • fuck that, its a nice rifle but the ammo pricing sucks, i stick with my mosin 91/30

  • @enjoisk8r20

That's why I went to hand loading for this round. The few companies that load for it want way too much.

  • @ytykg you got the rifle for 65$?? wow!

  • Whats cheaper 6.5 or 7.7? Or are they both pretty expensive haha?

  • @FirearmFanatic99

i just payed $26 for 20 rounds of 7.7 Jap. Hornady SP. I haven't checked how much 6.5 are. but im saying they are probably pretty expensive.

  • Cool! Now you need to go get a bayonette for it like I did. You can have fun banzai-charging the target. I did that when I was up in the Maine Wilderness since we couldn't find the proper ammo for our Arisaka the previous day. I just ran around bayonetting the targets instead. BANZAIIIII AHHHH xD

  • Good video. I love my Type99 but rarely shoot it since the ammo is so costly. I got mine back in 2007 or 2008 for about 150, i bought 2 boxes of shells for it back then from Hornady and i still havent gotten through the second box, i cling to the brass like its gold cause eventually im gonna start reloading for this rifle.

  • It's so super skinny O.o

Compared to a "Big strong american man" anyway lol.

  • arisaka was japanise right?

  • Does yours have the flower on it.

  • @870Remington12

My Type 38 does (no video yet), but not this one. It was one of the ways I was able to tell it hasn't been re-blued.

  • このライフルが好きだ!!!すごい!!!Yeah, it's cool, I like the rifle, I just wish some people would do a little research before they comment, It's kinda disheartening to see that we're still fighting with countries we've made peace with for a long time. We should me more concerned about the terrorists, they are everywhere, and they don't have a race or a face, they can beez anyonz and we mus destroy zem all!!!

  • @DrCrazies101

I never understood that myself. My Grandfather was nearly killed when a sniper shot, but only grazed his head on Okinawa. I hold no ill will toward the Japanese even knowing I might not be here if that sniper had been a little more accurate. I'm not going to blame people who weren't even alive back then. Or even those who were. The war is long over, we should move on.

  • @ytykg yup totally, acctually I didn't know what a race meant until I was in middle school

  • @ytykg I didn't even know what a race was until I hit middle school. Actually I believe that racism is annoying and over rated.

  • I like the arisaka, I don't own one, but it's unique bolt and rifling, I think it's awesome.

  • where did u gun like that for money like that??

  • is that carbine or the regular 43" Type 99?

  • I love how the mosin nagant was not mentioned in the article, but i have to say the mos superior rifle for the time was the swiss k31, not only did it hold six rounds but is was a straight pull back bolt.

  • worse ww2 rifle even worse then the carcano..-.-

  • @GSPxRUSH

You can believe what you want to believe.

For facts though you can read my description above! :)

  • @ytykg i believe what history has proven buddy...

  • @GSPxRUSH

Exactly! There is history in my description! I'm so glad you read it.

  • @ytykg nice try buddy but no.....

  • @GSPxRUSH

If you don't want to read data, clearly written out by a true firearms experts like Peter O. Ackley, that's your business. It still doesn't change the facts.

Like I said. Believe what you want to believe, and have a nice day!

  • @GSPxRUSH

    Excuse me, I meant Parker O. Ackley...oops!

  • @ytykg by history he means war not a test.

  • @lego0110

The quality of a weapon is not determined by winners or losers in war. After all, Germany lost twice, and no one calls the Mauser a bad rifle.

  • @GSPxRUSH THe Arsisaka was a very well made and designed rifle right until the Japanese got desperate just as the Nazis did and started making simple boom rod.

  • @ytykg Lol, right after i posted a comment to GSPxRUSH, I seen your description. I love the Arisaka action :)

  • @GSPxRUSH No, the Arisaka had the strongest Bolt of ww2...The only problem was the small round.

  • コッキングうめえ!

  • @raiden5310 コッキングは何ですか?

  • Good rifle?

  • thats right shoot

  • You is japan man?

  • @HeyYoHomeskillet

I don't even think the Japanese can own these in their home country.

    No, I'm not.

  • @ytykg O. that suck for poor japs. Love mine! on the shelf with the mosin and the mossberg! lol

  • @ytykg they can, in japan you need a permit much like in the U.S. you can own any weapon as long as it's available in legal markets. It's also not uncommon to find weapons from different countries anywhere.

  • @DrCrazies101

Well, you certainly can't just walk into a gun store, pass a simple background check, and walk out with all the weapons and ammo you can afford within one hour.

Some states have waiting periods, and/or registration of firearms, but not Georgia. I once bought two rifles, a pistol, and the ammo for all of them on my lunch break.

  • my grandfather actually gave me an arisaka rifle when he died and i just have one small question how much kick dose one have

  • my grandfather actually gave me an arisaka rifle when he died and i just have one small question how much kick dose one have

  • Nice rifle.

  • Looks Similar To The mauser

  • @eggjj2001 It has alot of copied features of the Mauser.

  • wow, smooth action, very nice.

  • I have a TYPE 99 from the Nagoya Arsenol. Series 1. Has everything minus the dust cover. All origional and still has the "mum". Anyone want to buy it I'm in southern california.

  • DIE ZOMBIE SCUM! i mean, this isn't COD?

  • when and where did you buy it for $65 thats amazing!

  • @Mauser2012

I bought it from a friend. He got it in a bulk trade. He only collects German weapons so he sold it to me cheap.

  • i cannot believe there are still type 99's out there i would of thought they were extremely rare to come across in the U.S !

  • mine still has the mum and it is a vet only gave 50 for it

  • where did you buy the gun for 65$?

  • has this one got an intact chrysanthemum on the reciever? i heard those can fetch a nice price

  • @smiddykid

    Nope, but at $65 I wasn't complaining.

  • @ytykg What about ammo ? Is it readily available or hard to get ? Is it expensive (ammo) ? I was thinking of getting one. On the fence about the k98 or Arisaka.

  • @cirethgr8 I would go with the Mauser, ammo is easier to come by and alot cheaper. Its also a more accuriate and better made rifle, my oppinion looks better too.

  • @cirethgr8 not hard to get, you can make do with different types of bullets as long as they fit the size and shape of a "7.7x58mm Arisaka JAP" round, these rounds are expensive but not in short supply, you have to order them from japan

  • @DrCrazies101

You can also hand load. Hornady loads this round, but like the others, it's expensive. A hand loader friend of mine loads them for me using turned down, and resized 30-06 brass.

  • @ytykg nice. :D

  • @ytykg can you tell me ware I may get one of these i have a japanese boyonett that goes on the end of one of these Arisaka's

  • i like little muzzel flash light kick accurate easy to maintain

    packs a punch

    4/5

  • Comment removed

  • The 7.7x58mm Japanese ballisticly is about the same as the 303 British. It is certainly powerful enough for game hunting. However the interest in these calibers is mostly nostalgia and I much prefer the softer shooting - and sexier looking -6.5x50mm Arisaka :-)

  • looks like a carabine :P

  • It is said that this weapon creates a big kickback.

    Apparently false.

  • Absolutely love my Arisaka. Agreed though, ammo's pricy. Mine mainly sits on my wall, as I just can't afford 7.7x58mm.

  • Double Tap?

  • i always heard jap rifles were junk but read they were one of the strngest military bolt actions made and the late war models were pretty shitty just like the late war mausers, but anyways 65$ is a damn good deal must of bought in back in the 90s

  • hey man, really nice rifle. what kind of rounds does it take, and where do you get yours?

  • @animallover2613

The ammo is 7.7x58mm Japanese. I now use hand loads from my gunsmith friend, but used to buy Hornady from MidwayUSA.

  • @ytykg Is it possible to convert one to .303 British since the rounds are so close?

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix

You would be opening a can of worms, the 303 has a rim that sticks out at the base of the shell but the 7.7 does not.

You would probably need to customize the extractor and install a new magazine and design a custom mag interrupter, I like Enfields but I HATE rimmed cartridges in magazine fed guns!

I had a mosin nagant in 7.62x54 RIMMED and the interrupter snapped like a twig one day making it a single shot, and the extractor was faulty THANK YOU century arms!

  • @dukenukemthreed

You should load the magazine so that the rim of one round is in front of the round below it. That way, no hangups.

  • @fastkid5050

That only helps if the magazine interrupter is intact, without it the gun tries to feed 2 rounds at a time and rim lock is unavoidable.

  • @fastkid5050

    But thanks all the same.

  • @ytykg isnt the '7.7x58mm pretty much the same as the british .303 round?..

  • @mihailolord

"Shitest" eh? I'll leave it at that.

  • @ytykg Lol, "Shitest" ?

  • Comment removed

  • @mihailolord yet... it was good enough to kill many americans.. and aussies (RIP)

  • @mihailolord lets see u post a video of u firing a gun u pussy

  • ボルトアクション早っw。

  • for me, the bolt is really awkward on this rifle :L rifles like the kar98k are easier to use.

  • @ktockly I was probably helped by starting on Mosin Nagants. All bolt actions are easy for me because I started with one that can be difficult at times..

  • How much do these go for now adays? and if there's anyone here who ones owns one and lives in canada could you please tell me any regulations associated with rifles like this?

  • 4 people has got a springfield m1903 rifle

  • is there a safety on this gun?

  • @rvdrules95 Yes the round piece at the end of the bolt is the safety

  • so is the bolt operation much different then a Springfield 1903? as in does it feel different for those who aren't familiar with the Type 99 just curious man

  • @Ablethe7

It works the same way. It rotates 90 degrees while cocking on opening. It ejects, and loads the same way. The main difference cycling is the straight/bent bolt handle. They are both Mauser derivatives. If you've ever shot a straight bolted Mauser you'd find an Arisaka very similar.

  • I like how you worked the bolt quickly.

  • @watehfreak

Thank you. I try to show these weapons in their best light. Some videos on here make rifle bolts look terrible to operate!

  • @ytykg

The problem is a lot of people will upload videos.. when it's their first time using it, and they have absolutely no muscle memory and don't get the proper force in the right direction.

  • @ytykg I love shooting the long rifles, that looked like a really nice bolt, I have a 39 mosin nagant and a 1918 mkIII enfield, wondering about bolt ease, that looked like butter man! I have been eyeing an Arisaka n wondering if you have any input on what I mentioned I shoot and the rifle in question?

  • @larsjake

Enfields usually always have slick actions. I don't know what you'd need do do to make one of those difficult. Every M39 I've handled (about 15) had better cycling bolts than most of their Soviet cousins. I can cycle my '42 VKT as fast as I can cycle my Savage No. 4. This is the only Arisaka I've fired so I can't really say how well one should cycle. Only that mine is smooth.

    I hope that helps.

  • @randompet

Yeah...OK...Video games where you take 30 gun shots and shake it off are definitely realistic...

  • @ytykg yeah they should play red orchestra on one of the 50 player maps online, thats a goood game...not the fucking childish cod bullshit

  • @ytykg

bolt action rifles kill in one hit in WaW

  • @randompet Call of Duty games are garbage. They disgrace every real life weapon.

  • @randompet Cause you dont play hardcore or you have a shit aim

  • @randompet

holy crap its a video game

  • @randompet nooooo it's 1 to 2 shots

  • @scepticpatriot Not in W@W for the nintendo DS!

  • @randompet asssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooolllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee kkkkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddddddd

  • @randompet kil is spelled with 2 L's

  • Comment removed

  • How good actually is this rifle? I always hear mixed opinions.

  • @TaZ101SAGA It is an excellent weapon. Quite accurate. Durable. The receiver was made of the strongest steel of any long arm in use during WW2, which is good considering that reloading is about the only economical way to feed it, so any slight accidental variances in safe loads levels should be tolerated safely.

  • i thought bolt action guns were hard to push forward since u had to push the new shell into the chamber

  • @futurerev21 It isn't that hard to chamber a new round if you have a well oiled bolt and your rifle is in good working condition.

  • good sound quality

  • I've shot the 6.5mm Type 38 Arisaka before, (and it's successor the type 99) And simply put, it's the only gun that the Japanese got right back then. Simple action, robust and accurate. The one I tried also had the dust cover still on the action, it was loud when you cycled it. But still I was surprised at the quality of this rifle. I'm not at all surprised it survived the stress tests. The Type 99 was little different except for the higher recoil. They were fun to shoot. Pity they're rare.

  • Once again the japanese tried to coppy the Germans and fail...........

why buy one of these for "65" bucks when you can get a mause variant for around 130. And you dont have to pay 40$ bucks a box of amo lol, fail whos gunna do that.

You can get 8mm Mauser surplus amo that works good around 200 bucks for 900 rounds.......

Japan sucks, stop coppying German engineering.

Stick to Lawn mowers and DVD players japan, thats all you're good at.

  • @Howie262

Honestly, you have some serious issues...

Beyond this I'm not even going to reply to you. I am leaving it up though so others can view your ignorance.

  • @ytykg or delete it lol.

  • @ytykg Ok im sorry you cant handle the truth...

Pick up any factual small arms book or magazine and you'll see through out the last 150 years Japan has copied literally almost all of its weapons from the Germans...

    Lugers, Mausers, and MG's.....

trust me... they have they're clones...

    stay mad @ me bruh....

  • @Howie262

I've said this was a copy of the Mauser action a bunch of times in here. I don't know where you got the idea that I didn't. It doesn't change the fact that this was the strongest bolt action tested by Ackley. That includes the Mauser action it was a copy of.

Just because a Nambu looks like a Luger doesn't mean it's a copy. The action is a different design altogether. I also don't know of any German machine guns that fed off of stacks of ammo still on the stripper clips.

  • @ytykg Yeah you're totally right....... Just because the Ak-47 looks like an Stg-44 doesn't mean its a copy....

Strongest bolt tested? i seriously doubt that seeing how Arisaka's were some of the most poorly constructed rifles later in WWII. Some even being dangerous to shoot due to the lack of adequate raw materials when they were manufactured....

Pound for pound the mauser series are just simply the best bolt-action rifles of WWI-WWII.

    those arn't my words either....

  • @Howie262 Get a Masters then talk to me bruh.

  • @Howie262

A AK is a copy of the principal of STG-44. The actions are different.

A few rifles built by school girls in sheds at the end of the war are not representative of the millions made in real factories throughout the war. Those aren't the rifles that could take pressures that would shatter a Mauser action. Those aren't the ones that could have barrels blown off over pressure and still function!

Keep living in your German world. I'll keep collecting every nations weapons.

  • @Howie262 Whoa calm down with the insults Howie262. Stop being so mad all the time. You can't pass English 50 by abusing Ad hominem in your argumentative papers. This is just a tip in case you decide to go to college.

  • @DemocracyOverAnarchy who the fuck are you bruh? We're talking about how the Arisaka copied the Mauser action....

If you have nothing intellectual to add, then you should probably just leave..

However, i do have an Associates and almost my bachelor. Im also in the Army, about to deploy to Kabul, Afghanistan.

If you're going to come at me w/ bull shit, atleast know who you're talking to....

i didnt insult anyone on here that didn't deserve it.

  • @DemocracyOverAnarchy You're pretty bored dude to have a masters and you're still commenting on peoples shit with non argumentative reply's....

If you're going to talk about the rifle do so, otherwise just leave.

btw...." Earn an Army uniform, then come talk to me....."

  • @Howie262 how in any way does this copy the mauser this rifle was designed mostly from the lee enfield and mosin nagant the americans tried to copy the mauser and failed. try to get your facts right before you talk shit about the japanese.

  • @electrichand1234

Actually the US tried to copy the Mauser without paying for it. Hence the modifications. They failed in hiding it, and ended up paying royalties anyway.

The Arisaka action is a Mauser action, but it's been modified, and strengthened. Instead of modified, and weakened like the Springfield action. The only thing the Arisaka action shares with a Mosin is a straight bolt. It's overall layout is Mauser.

  • @ytykg its a classic weapon why can't people stop talking shit about it...........anyway why should it matter since japan had an alliance with germany in wwII. and the british started using the mauser action in the lee enfield rifles, and we got it from britain. i may be wrong but from my readings this is how i figured it.

  • @paintballgunny

Well, it really shouldn't matter since everyone copies each other. A good idea is a good idea, even from a potential enemy.

The four major types of actions (aside from straight pulls, and semi autos) were Mauser derivatives, Mosin, Mannlicher, and the Lee actions.

The British Lee action is a Scottish-American inventor's action. It is not a copy of Mauser's design in any way. The British P14, and the American P17 are a mix of Springfield, and Mauser designs though.

  • @electrichand1234 Actually it is a Modified-mauser action fact.... if you actually know what you're talking about....

It even has an identical Bolt release lug....

A Lee Enfield has no design traits on this rifle what so ever, a lee enfield is a close cock system, not an open cock like this....

The Mosin-Nagant is a Belgium design noted to be copied from earlier Mauser rifles in the 1850's...

I have several books and magazines on small arms that span from the 1500's till now.

  • @Howie262 dude many countrys used ideas from the german design and made their own. buying only german made guns whould profit germany instead of their own country

  • @Howie262 you fail at life but win at being a worthless troll. good job.

  • @kuribo1 Im sorry guy that i dont give the Japanese legitimate credit for stealing designs and technology...

Im sorry i actually know what im talking about seeing how i have countless small arms books and magazines....

Im sorry you're a little Jap boy who cant handle the truth...

    im sorry....

    are you mad?

  • @Howie262 What the fuck? really who the hell are you? do not even know you or care. The fuck you talking about troll? keep fishing not biting. Go back to playing COD or watching your mother undress.

  • @kuribo1 You're the one who commented on what i said bruh.... Obviously you care alot.

    goodbye......

  • @Howie262 ohh I care just not what an internet warrior like yourself has to say. my gods above look at your posts. Move the fuck on and get a life guy, kiss a girl (mother does not count)

  • ya thats how fast japs will shoot you in the face

  • you use that bolt like a pro

  • Have you started reloading yet?

  • I didn't pay a penny for mine got it from my pastor right after I turned 14.But it was poorly sporterized the chistanthumum was ground off the original sights were gone and every thing. It also had a bit of rust. But it still shot. But who ever taped the barrel for the rear sight went allthe way into the barrel and the rear sight went flying off so now im not takeing any chances and wanting to replace the barrel but you would be supised at how hard it was to find a barrel plus the tools.

  • Wow! :D

    $65?

Where can I get one of those? :D

And what caliber is that Arisaka in, BTW? :D

  • Smooth bolt, refreshing after being around the M91/30 :)

  • I want a Carcano or type 38 Arisaka, WHICH TO CHOOSE?

They are both 6.5 and both badass, (Arisaka was used all over the pacific and Carcano took out JFK) but which one is more accurate maybe for hunting?

  • A germen mauser kar98k took out jfk

  • @steamingpoopfart

I don't mean to offend you but....You're just so wrong.

To think in this age of computers that you didn't even go to wikipedia or watch an episode of mythbusters SHOWING the rifle Oswald used shows how quick people are to post when they don't do resear
