Night mother was a lady who lived i think in the second era. She was told by Sithis to kill 5 of her children in his name. she did and she became his wife. Back in the days, when the black sacrament was performed, night mother would know and she would inform the listener. The dark brotherhood was completely destroyed and there has been no listener for eons. the Dark brotherhood come to know of the black sacrament from locals and such. now you are the listener.
@TDKPyrostasis happy to help bro. cicero was trying to be the listener, thats y he was trying to talk to the corpse. actually there was a mission for cicero before the dark brotherhood quest began. now that you have started the dark brotherhood quest, you cant access it. and plssss finish the dark brotherhood and main storyline before you move on to something else.

When the eye is open it doesn't mean they see you persay. It means they know you're there, and are looking. When its closed they;re not loot to hard
