Matt, I do like your applications and ways of thinking but I have some issue with this. In fairness I suspect the flaw is in the art rather than in you. In you consider Iain Abernethy's bunkai jitsu, the applications fit the kata perfectly. With your technique here, as good and as effective as it is, the positioning of almost every aspect of it is quite different from the pattern.
@Momoyama79 How so? Twin guarding forearm block, cross in for the chamber which traps the hand, then slide out for the strike The only thing I really changed for this was that I keep my hand open for the 'punch'.
