Next person to bitch about this sounding like espionage, i will find ur house, and get naked and make u stare at my naked body. They are both kickass songs, so why bitch?
Green Day's "Espionage" was first released on September 22, 1997 on the "Hitchin' a Ride" single. The Living End released their debut album on 12 October 1998, just over a year later.
But stop arguing, they are both great bands and great songs.
@mynameisnotneil Actually, "Espionage" was first released on September 22, 1997 on the "Hitchin' a Ride" single. The Living End released their debut album on 12 October 1998, just over a year later.
I miss the days when good rock(like this) that required actual instruments was popular. I'm sick of Lady Gaga, 3OH3, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Kesha, and all the other people who need electronics to make their voices tolerable.
green day is my favourite band but the living end r a lot more musical minded by far and chris cheney is 10 times the guitarist billie joe will eva be!
how about every1 shuts up about green day on the living end videos its about the living end they might sound like other bands but people dont care TLE is fuckin awesome and if other bands are awesome enough to sound like the living end fuckin good on em then :)
tle are really good and keep re intventing themselves, but can i say green day are my favourite band butjist cause the tle are freindly with them doesnt mean their copying them and why wud they when u r successful without being friendly with green dAY they jist like the style of certian green day song take sum influence from them

FAIL.
everyone thinks that. in fact, the living end copied from hitchin a ride. also notice how with adeline records, the recording company owned by billie joe and his wife.
umm...wrong. if anything, green day copied Stray Cat Strut from the Stray Cats almost EXACTLY. as a matter of fact, i read somewhere that TLE was mad at GD for biting off of their idols.
duh, why would TLE copy off of a band copying off of TLE's favorite band? you, my friend, FAIL
yeah really are you retarded? Listen to Hitchin a ride then listen to stray cat strut. green day copied stray cat strut. Don't bitch about things you don't know anything about. dumb shit
no bloody mary came out before espionage..espionage was in the album shenanigans which came on in 2002. but wat are u talking about! green day are wayyy better.
how come there are two seemingly different performances that are both called "Tour Of Duty" when this one looks like there are no troop as oppose to the other vids like west end riot were there are troops?
Because the person who uploaded this video doesn't know what it is. This is from the Tibetan Freedom Concert (not the Tour of Duty) like it says on the title under the song name on the screen.
I didnt know Green Day had a copyright on the key of E Minor.. The James Bond Theme is in Em too, dont you think that's a little more sus as opposed to Chris Cheney buying an austin powers soundtrack and copying the riff. The difference is that Espionage attempts to get the same 'spy theme', and Bloody Mary is an original riff, and the song is a shitload better than Espionage
Also, the self titled album this song is on came out in 1998 (probably recorded earlier), one year before the Austin Powers film was released. So if anything, Green Day copied The Living End.
@kjen13 -- I beg to differ, Trav was an awesome drummer, but their style was still pretty awesome in Modern ARTillery (which was post Trav); mind you I do like to pretend that most of the White Noise album doesn't exist...
it reminds me of a faster, harder 'table top show', from the living end's first EP in 1994

I wish people would stop comparing them to Green Day. Fuck Green Day, TLE are truly original talent.
