Also, a question for you: I'm from Texas, grew up in Houston. I'm a beat boxer, and could always find a cypher around to spit in. I've recently done contracting in NYC, San Fran, and other locales, and no one knew what a cypher was. I got blank looks. Do you think cyphers are dead?

And second. I also do not make new year resolutions. I believe that people can change regardless of what time of year it is. I get the whole "new year, new slate" thing, but generally I think I should be able to make a new slate anytime I feel there's a need for change. So here's to change -- no matter what day it is :)

But actually my father is black and my mother is white, and I self-ID as Black (and as mixed, I don't think of the two as mutually exclusive).

Other people who are Black or mixed are usually most likely to see this correctly, but guesses vary a lot across aboard. gives some fascinating insight into people's perceptions anad preconceptions.

I don't perceive the negative space as black bars or find it distracting.. i like it and actually made the opposite resolution to do it more often :) but i will take note if others feel the same
