The photographer, Fernando Pereira died as a result of going back into the cabin of the boat to retrieve his camera equipment after Rainbow Warrior has begun to sunk. Clearly his death is a result of the detonation of the ship, but there is no direct link. Subsequent release of the original brief given to the French agents involved shows there was to be no fatalities. It was manslaughter, not murder.

I can see where you're coming from, but murder doesn't seem to have been their intent. Had they wanted to murder the crew, it would have been a simple matter to set the timer and place the device when they knew the crew would be on board. From a mission point of view, it would have been a better idea, because you'd be able to sink her in deep water where examination would be tough. Instead they placed a "warning charge" in hopes the crew would evacuate before the main charge went.

To all people who live outside NZ, the rainbow warrior was a big issue because kiwi's hated the French for doing nuclear tests in the pacific so an attack on green peace was an attack on the NZ people. We wanted the French agents lined up and shot and some of us wanted to declare war on France and kick them completely out of the pacific. Even today getting rid of the French from our region is always on our mind.

France has the power to project power everywhere in the world, Australia would not even be able to bring its navy over to Europe, let alone fight a war there. The photographer, Fernando Pereira died as a result of going back into the cabin of the boat to retrieve his camera equipment after Rainbow Warrior has begun to sunk. Clearly his death is a result of the detonation of the ship, but there is no direct link. Subsequent release of the original brief given to the French agents involved shows there was to be no fatalities. It was manslaughter, not murder.

Well the germans pretty much had them trapped on this beach head which was in the town of dunkirk. like 250,000 to 350,000 were taken back to england on boats/ any that could float. I can see where you're coming from, but murder doesn't seem to have been their intent. Had they wanted to murder the crew, it would have been a simple matter to set the timer and place the device when they knew the crew would be on board. From a mission point of view, it would have been a better idea, because you'd be able to sink her in deep water where examination would be tough. Instead they placed a "warning charge" in hopes the crew would evacuate before the main charge went.

Meh,its not a problem.People only want to remember pro national.I mean in the eighties you had the Iran contra deal, Afghanistan ( US funded tali ban to fight the Russians ) ,Angola, Israel being supplied modern weapons and the Mossad doing " cleanouts" and was never questioned.Gebus,the US was funding Iraq's war against Iran at some point. The IRA was getting funding from the US and arms supplies from the US,they were also helping to train fellow "Terrorists" or "Freedom fighters".

Its funny how things change with time. A word sprung up a while ago.." Insurgents".Look up the meaning and learn what the term is...very cloudy,grey definition. *edit* The IRA was training the freedom fighters etc,just bad wording.
But hey,I only saw the Rainbow Warrior with is blast hole sitting in drydock,and have a chunk of hull plate sitting under the house awaiting an artist to paint her picture on it. People really have no fkn idea how nasty and dirty the world really is.

The death of that Portuguese guy is very sad and unfortunate,but had the United States 1/not waited for almost 2 years before entering WWII because they were too busy trading with the Nazis 2/shared their nuclear simulation technology with France as they did with Britain,this wouldn't have taken place.

The bombing was an act of terrorism ordered by the French government. It sounds to me like you are trying to pass blame onto the United States. The event wouldn't have taken place if the French government had not ordered it to occur.

It was a complete fkup by Lange.He should have just given the French the finger ,but at the time NZ was having trouble with getting Butter imports into europe.A different time,but nowdays they would have been imprisoned for life in NZ,and in time of war,shot.
