I use my sub box all the time. I rarely ever use the YouTube homepage. My sub box sits open all day and when I get a chance, I refresh and see what's gone up. The front page and "Most Viewed" seems like the place to get to to attract NEW viewers. I know most of my views come from people subbed and and sub boxes because my views rise and fall based on how well the sub box is working. I think more people are using them than you think.

I agree with @sarabeaarr, I use my sub box a LOT, and hardly ever the 'most discussed', 'most viewed' and all other categories. I would find it VERY difficult to not have a sub box to keep up with everyone I'm subscribed to.

As a new YouTuber, this video is simultaneously incomprehensible and alarming, like being shouted at in Greek by a perturbed dog. Yeah, I used to get about 500 views a time (still not that much) on my vids, and now I usually only get 100, but I put in more effort :/

Tris, I'm a big fan but please don't jump on the blaming youtube as a company for the lack of views bangwagon, it's the audience that has changed, even if the subbox isn't working the big subcriptions button does work so it's not hard for people to find videos. If they are chosing not to go look them then that is a whole different issue.

@Freeze883 During 2010, the Sub Boxes were broken for months. Over this time, a large statistic of users stopped using the sub-box feature regularly. Ergo, many people have experienced lower viewcounts ever since. So it's a change of viewer behaviour derived from a fault by the website.

My subbox has, thank god, never been broken. As I'm subscribed to quite a lot of people, I don't think I could be bothered after a while to keep up with the channels I usually watch.

youtube is silly, they keep changing things, it's as though they think that if it actually stays the same for more than a few months then people will stop using youtube, which is obvs not true. hopefully these medal thingies will work...

It's obvious what they're doing- they're justifying their own jobs! If they're not constantly changing things, they don't need a lot of the people they employ when things have to be redesigned and recoded and re-innovated. Just because something works well, doesn't mean it won't work even better some other way. Unfortunately, they just implement and let the users do the quality control, which frustrates those who rely on YouTube working for their income.
