One question. How do you like all the lies, all of the totally wrong decisions on fiscal policy and the ability to make America look like cowards treating you. If Colin Powel was so damn smart he would have voted against Mr O.. If you can't see the turning towards socialism being hammered into this nation you are blind, stupid and koolaid drinker of Mr O., and need to open your eyes before it's too late. @pullerabc, after eight years of Bush, I don't see how anyone can make us look any worse.
I have been employed since I was fourteen years old, so I would say my hand has never been held out for a handout.
It would seem that if one does not think the same way as Republicans, or Teabaggers, they don't know anything. In fact, both of these groups are making up history as they go.
@pullerabc If it wasn't for big gov't socialist programs (like the police) , I wouldn't ask for a hand out I would simply take everything you have, but not your money, because if there was effectively no gov't as tea party regressives seem to advocate, paper currency would be worthless. your proabaly another conservative who has never had an honest days work in your life, but you "earned" your money sitting at a desk... Pathetic
@pullerabc Beats the lies, the naked power grabs, the war in Iraq being based on false, manufactured evidence intelligence and making us look like we hate all Muslims.
Hell,Colin Powell knew that he had to get away from ol' Shrub if he was going to be left with a shred of integrity and dignity.
I've been collecting your money just like Colin Powell did,I served in the Army in Desert Storm and I've been deployed twice for Iraq.Trump that a-hole for service and patriotism.
@pullerabc - Describe "Socialism". I am not sure how old you are, but every time a Democrat is in the White House, all the sudden we are headed towards "Socialism." That is the biggest joke in the United States. Hands out to government? WTF? When a person falls on hard times through no fault of their own, yes we have our hands out. We pay taxes, so it is not like a free lunch. The needless war in Iraq will end up costing 3 TRILLION. I don't hear you bitch about that total waste of money!
@pullerabc Turn the USA to socialism because of what? A reorganised banking system that would work better and keep the USA out of debt from China and a Health care system? Do you know what the hell socialism is? The right spurt 'socialism' as a dirty word and they have no clue. The USA has socialist elements already - most countries do; national parks, highways built by the state, a fire service, a police service, hell even a standing army is a form of socialism.
God damn it Colin! You need to join up with the real Conservatives who throw war heroes under the bus election time, just like they did to you. I mean John Kerry looked French even though he actually went and fought in Vietnam he looked fucking FRENCH! George Bush served his country with great honor during Vietnam and no one will ever forget the respect he showed Vietnam vets like Mccain and Kerry when he had to win an election against them.
i would say that as the fomer joint cheif of staff colin powell is well qualified to comment on who he belives would be the best cantidate for the presidency. i do not think race had anything to do with his endorsement.
I didn't realize that Colin Powell was so foolish. We all have the right to question a politicians beliefs. So it is ok for him to criticize Michelle but not not ok for her to to criticize. Are Americans getting stupid and Powell is exploiting that fact. Anyway even Powell is complaining about Obama now. So I guess the liberal media will have to call him on his divisiveness and racism.

The General is a classic case of being a very liberal republican, and should be shut out of the conservative party. For the highest position of this country, to be untested, and clearly un-vetted, is totally wrong, and speaks poorly of his rank. You are what you associate with. PERIOD. Just because he attained the Rank of a 4 star General doesn't mean the man is qualified as a commetator. When did he become a judge & jury on what we should or should not expect from a sitting President.
@pullerabc, I would say Colin Powell is at least as qualified as many of the commentators in the media today. I say this not as someone on the left or right. There are some pretty outrageous folks on both sides making comments.
However, I do think the General has a great deal of integrity, and I respect what he has accomplished, as a minority, and as an individual.
I'd respect any man regardless of color that has accomplished what the general has. But integrity runs a little shallow when as a registered republican cast his support to the democrats because of his ethnic back ground. He crossed the line and showed his true intergrity by doing so.
@pullerabc Party loyalty over a conscience is just mindless, 'zombie-ism' and politics. Its not integrity. A man of integrity is loyal to right and wrong, but not necessarily a political party. A registered republican has every right to vote democrat if he feels that the democratic 'candidate' is better than the republican 'candidate.' If he did vote mostly for ethnic background, then he is actually following a long and established Republican tradition.
@pullerabc Barack Obama was certainly more vetted than Palin ever was.
Any attempt to help anyone who doesn't make a million dollars or more per year is of course socialism.Remember folks even though tax rates are lower than at any time since WWII you're Taxed Enough Already. We gave Shrub and his gang of thugs and fixers control over the economy for eight years and what did we get in return?Tax cuts for the wealthy and weak economic growth, followed by the worst recession since 1929.
@pullerabc Well,Colin Powell is trying to recover his honor and integrity that he lost when he sold out to Shrub.
Lies? President Obama has cut taxes, like he promised to do.He works with our allies, instead of trying to bully them, like he promised to do.
Socialism?Maybe you ought to talk to Dick Cheney about using the government to help out your favorite company.I can't decide if that's socialism or just lain old fashioned corruption.
@zahir13 Yes he does, but complacentcy is the reason we will never stop the enemy long before they become so impowered as to challenge the greatest weoponized country in the world. It started with McAurthur in Korea, then to Vietnam, the stop short war in 91, and today in Afgan. You finish the war you don't change to a POLICE action. As soon as you do emotions get us into re-doing things all over again and at a cost far greater than the initial conflict.
I don't see any complacency in Powell's remarks, but an opinion of political rhetoric that goes beyond what should be acceptable.
More, he backed the candidate between two offered that he thought the better choice. Did every white person who voted for McCain do so for race? And might not his opinions actually have validity, even if you disagree with them?
@pullerabc But you would give the analysis & commentary of some two bit religious nut case or high school drop out like Hannity and Beck more weight than Powell, who at least graduated from college.
Michelle Bachmann, Republican from Minnesota is a racist, a bigot, a Marcarthist, homophobic, anti-Islamic, anti-Catholic, , and a member of a fundamentalist sect of Lutheranism, one that doesn't believe women should have the power to vote (ironically, let alone run for office). She is currently trying to over throw the current administration, she is in support of VIOLENT EXTREMISM against President Obama and actually believes that "Democrats are the cause of swine flu"...seriously, wtf?!
Powell privately contested the gross mismanagement of the conflict in Iraq, but publicly he supported it...I think he is a good guy but I think he shoulders a whole lot of the responsibility for what happened there and I think he should be the one to come out and speak about it...
I supported the war in Iraq because people of the stature of Colin Powell said there were Weapons of Mass Destruction. Feel a bit of a fool now. Still he did have the courage to resign.
agreed - clearly so smart and thoughtful and solid. He should run for SOMETHING, we need good people like him in office. Maybe he should replace Bachmann...
This is a great study in humanity. While I have great respect for the good General, even though he became a general, I think it's interesting to see how everyone is limited due to the lane they were/are in. General Powell is a true 'merican patriot and all around good guy but Ayers is absolutely central to the issue of Obama's presidency, according to me of course. I really don't care who wins because all the real losers got booted in the primaries. Wishing you the best...tik

Colin Powell is a man who speaks the truth, that's what's making it tough to be a conservative these days.

Still he did have the courage to resign.

he should have run for president when he had the chance, he's a good guy

agreed - clearly so smart and thoughtful and solid.
