  • This is good music! FUCK 50cent!

  • Fishbone beats Red Hot any time!

  • Have seen them 5 times. Actually got to rub Angelo's head. Awesome everytime.

  • BEST FUCKING BAND LIVE!!! HOLY FUGGIN SHITS...........

Oh, also, this was the beginning of the end for ALL bands that rock the fug out. I was raised on this shit and I play like this but evry band I'm in is like..." Uh, can you calm down a bit?" Oh well. Thank you YouTube...

  • BEST FUCKING BAND LIVE!!! HOLY FUGGIN SHITS...........

  • If they were white they would be the biggest band in the world..bands like U2? R U fucking kiddin' me..I'm the most UNracisist person on Earth, but 'White America', the America that buys most of the albums were not ready for this....like putting Hot Sauce on Ice Cream....love these dudes!

  • Just saw them for the 1st time in Fresno Ca tonight...great great band. I couldn't believe how spot on they were. Angelo played his heart out, like all of em did. I am a convert now!

  • one of the most underrated bands EVER! met norwood at the musikmesse and i was honored that i could chat with one of my heroes! DAMNATION 2 those who haven't put these geniuses n the rock and roll hall of fame! the world sleeps on genius AGAIN!

  • Just seen these guys playing in Southampton UK... great gig and this number had me jumping around like I had chilli powder in my pants :-)

  • the bassist has the most bad ass hair do

  • On the Arsenio Hall show..>Really???Really??they fucking killed...This is real black music..you know, the kind that influenced white suburban kids like Hendrix, Sly and James Brown not the sterotyped bullshit that passes as black music today

    ***jcmcneilband***

  • Sigh...memories of Fishbone shows from when I was young. The most fun you could have with your clothes mostly on.

  • Please somebody post the Saturday Night Live version of this song. It kicked way more ass than this version. They totally destroyed on that performance.

After they performed it, my jaw was still on the floor.

Thumps up if you saw it back in the day.

  • @MrVeesworld NBC will remove the SNL performance if someone posts it on youtube. Try doing a google video search for it.

  • @PittFan888 Thanks but i have tried for 4 years to locate that one video and it been impossible to find. You would think that somebody on planet earth would have the SNL version of this song up but NOOOOOOOO!!

It sucks cause I really put effort into finding it and it is nowhere to bee seen.

  • @MrVeesworld I've got it on VHS. I just need to get around to converting it to DVD.

  • @MrVeesworld You know, they were banned from SNL after overplaying during "Everyday Sunshine". Should've gone to commercial, but for some reason Fish kept on playin'.

  • @MrNgwenya35 Wow I did not know that!!

  • @PittFan888 Hey I finally found the best version of this song from the 1991 SNL appearance as rare as it is and all I had to do was go to dailymotion d.o.t com

    Life is complete now.

  • @MrVeesworld Thanks man! I've been looking for that for years too. So damn good!

  • @lingertooth YOu got it!! I am glad you can revisit the awesomeness of FISHBONE from their prime.

  • @MrVeesworld - You can find it on dailymotion. And yeah, that version rocks. Super high energy!

  • @MrVeesworld the snl version was mindblowing !

  • @DungBeetlesMoveWhat

    They're fucking amazing.

  • I hate to say it, but this song has many parts that sound like "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden. Listen to it again and compare.

  • It's Dirty Walt

  • Awesome performance. Might be the first good thing I've ever seen on the Arsenio show.

  • I have never before seen anyone rock out with a keyboard still attached to it's stand. Brilliant!

  • Hands Down the baddest live Act on planet earth !

  • Does anybody have any idea why are they waving the Serbian flag?

  • @ZiengerNS It's a Pan-African flag lol

  • @jacksonwescott

That would be Red Black Green, this it Red Blue White :?

  • @ZiengerNS No, the bottom stripe is most definitely green. The flag is being held underneath a blue light and the VHS color may have been distorted over time.. But you can still clearly make out green on the flag.

  • I used to see Fishbone back in 1984/85 in Palo Alto, California at the Keystone and Circle Star theater when they were at their craziest.Nobody could touch this band in their prime or now. They were like lightning in a room.

  • @LeBigMoneyShow

Been going to their shows since the 80s. Going to see them tonight in Orlando. They are still incredibly powerful. Better than any new indie band.

  • @jimgravesus Yes I agree. Have a good time. BTW, in San Francisco, I produced shows at clubs during the mid 90's and I had Angelo do spoken word as one of the opening acts before Merle Saunders performed. He was crazy and interesting guy. I also had Kendall sit in w/ my band in '94 in SF. Fishbone is red hot!!.

  • aww man wish they had done a close up on the guitar tapping at 1:48

  • one of the best shows i've ever been to!

Stony Brook University 1992 Primus opened

  • @flyngsnow you lucky fucker !

  • these niggaz was BAD !!!!!!

  • Saw them in Brixton when I was like 18. They basically turned my head inside out: life changing show.

  • Does anyone know who the trumpet player is at the end of this song?

  • @gfindura he is Fernando Pullum

  • Does anyone know who the trumpet player is at the end of this song?

  • Great performance and all, but why does the dude at the dude at the back wave the Russian flag?

  • @kotovski Because that isn't even close to being a Russian flag? It's a Pan-African flag..

  • @kotovski that dude waving the flag is ME...and its the flag for concious black americans...created by Marcus Garvey

  • @wendogg Thanks dude! The colours are a bit off, the flag looks like an upside down Russian flag (red-blue-white) , but you are right of course :)

  • I'm usually a Classic Rock kinda guy - Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Led Zep, the usual suspects. - but these guys put on one hell of a performance! A great song, instrumental chops, a front man that delivers charisma, an incredible energy level, and great vocal ability. You gotta respect 'em.

  • Amazing band. They were completly indefinable; maybe that was their problem, commercially.

Fuck that, though; great songs, great musicians and Angelo Moore was an amazing frontman.

  • Comment removed

  • You can feel the love when they play

  • Hell yeah! Thanks for posting this up!

  • Awesome

  • I always say seeing Fishbone 8 or 9 times in the 90's were the most mind blowing killer gigs ever. Each time totally different too.

  • They have afew good songs but most of them aren't good, but then again I don't like ska music much

  • That is how to do a live performance. Modern lip syncing artists should watch and take notes.

  • BaaadAsss Muthafunkas!!!!!

  • wow, what a performance. The energy is insane. Not my most favorite band but this is insanely great.

  • has got to be one of the best songs ever!!

  • Sorry guys but 'Bad Brains' were a few steps ahead of ya!!!!

  • so?

  • wtf kind of comment is that, what does that even mean?

  • Cool!

  • Simple No Band Does !

  • Name me ONE modern band that plays with the energy and power of this great group!

  • @mindstormsabrewin Crack does wonders, eh?

  • The SNL version was way better

  • @cortorbor who gives a fnck! this is great on its own and its on a program geared towards a black demographic and black folk needed to see this and appreciate one of the best bands of the generation. go watch the snl version if you think its so great.

  • @t3rr3nc388

What's wrong with you? Calm down.

  • Please oh please somebody post the performance of this song from their SNL appearance.

This one rocks but the SNL version kick even more ass!!

  • Whole Package real deal this song has it all !

  • i was there. so was martha plimpton! shaw her at the bar.

i got punched by a guard who felt she was a medic dealing with an emergency as she tried to make her way out of the crowd with some stupid kid freaking out on acid. real buzz kill.

but everything else was really nice.

  • Used to have all day sessions on my half-pipe and this was one of the songs that made me grind and hit big-ass airs. Backside to this was great!

  • i did not know Shawn Wayan's lead a band. JUST KIDDN - I LOVE FISHBONE

  • lmao

  • HAHA the Keyboarder freakin out ..^^^

    love it !

  • I still don't understand how Fishbone are not the biggest band in the world

  • @Badjamusic They are, just in their own way... now say it, " Fishbone"...

  • @Badjamusic

The only answer I can give is they're black.

Personally, been a fan since the '80's and still loving.

  • @Badjamusic They are, but the world isn't ready for them !

  • @chucku00 i think that's right on. totally not ready. fishbone is such greatness, such art. in total motion. fuckin great.

  • @Badjamusic They are... but most people don't know it yet :)

  • @Badjamusic ME TOO!! SHIT SO GOOD I FEEL LIKE CRYING I HAVE TEARS LISTENING TO THIS!!! THATS HOW GOOD IT IS!!

  • @Badjamusic I thinks its because they refuse to sell out ....have you ever seen them live ? two and a half hours of pure energy ..

  • @Badjamusic - I hear you but actually they are! For us fans, they are the biggest and bestest! Who cares if the Miley Bieber Gaga masses of illiterate scrubs don't know of Fishbone - they sure as hell don't deserve to bask in the glorious essence of what this band is all about! But on the other hand, Fishbone are the band with a message and that message should be heard by said scrubs. So it's a loss.

  • @Badjamusic because when they made their best album(reality of my surroundings)and got that money,THEY LOST THEY DAMNED MINDS!!

  • @gittahfiend nah , i think they were really always musically changing ....although i agree Reality was the best album , the rest were just natural growth , i think it would have happened regardless of the money . thats just me though .

  • @Badjamusic

Because they're black that's why. You see the black flag in the background? It shows that America is still a racist country.

  • @GTpanik

Yeah I guess that's why Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, BB King....etc. etc. never made it big in this country. The real reason is because they are truly talented musicians and for the most part music is made by idiots for idiots. Fishbone didn't do the "cookie cutter" type 3 minute radio songs. Unfortunately many of the truly great bands that don't compromise their music don't make it commercially.

  • @aleisterfiend Well said. Plenty of black people have made it. i hate the "racism" card. It's the most laziest, easiest, thoughtless card to toss out there.

  • @SgtBaker16

Well me, I'm a black nationalist. And I agree. I love my black people and rack. But I listen to music from anyone that is good. Black or white.

  • Tight the best band ever fucking tight.

  • Not too many bands that could rock this much. Look at their god damn keyboard guy!!

  • Greetings loved one....FISHBONE...no more 2 say....

  • could you upload the interview please

  • i got everything they put out

  • Fishbone at their absolute peak! Awesome stuff!!

  • Good stuff!!

  • god damnit why can't there be music being like this being made today! fishbone is the SHIT!

  • I think the same. This is pure ENERGY!!

  • awesssssome!!!

  • man they were crazy badass

  • that drummer is awesome

  • I really miss this line-up

  • 2:05 what an incredible voice transition... simply an incredible vocalist. and a legendary band.

  • does anyone else think that mike patton RIPPED this dude off back in the day? voice wise, dressing... hell he even did that shit with the cane too.

  • Legends!

  • Haha really nuts

  • Great song. I get all pumped up by the energy and suddenly at the end the horn solo brings tears to my eyes.:)

  • Me too!

  • my uncle is the guitarist

  • the guy who broke down and got all religious? kendall jones?

  • didn't he join a cult and they tried to break him out (forced intervention)? that shit broke up the band rtght?

California and their cults...kids gotta cut back on the pot and they would be the biggest band in the world right now...

Thanks for the video. got me Bonin'

  • isnt got me bonin from that chili peppers song? its obviously sampled but where?

  • the chili peppers sampled the fishbone song bonin in the boneyard. the chili peppers used to open for fishbone back in the day.

  • Fishbone had more musical talent in Angelo Moore's pinky finger than most rock bands have in their entire collective bodies.

  • Greetings loved one....that's pure truth!!!

  • Thanks man. Peace!

  • the trumpet player at the end was awesome, but I don't think he

s around anymore. Seems like only norwood, angelo and the trombone player are left.

  • this would have been 1991 or1992.

i saw fishbone open for primus in late 1991. truly one of the best live shows i've seen. it was coined as "fishmus".

  • i saw that tour when it came to D.C. it was at The Citidel in Adams Morgan but it was the other way around (at least in D.C.),Primus opened for Fishbone. Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. The ENTIRE place was a mosh pit!

  • You're right enzo. pri opened for fish. It's kind of hard to think that considering Primus' commercial success. We saw them at Kansas University Ballroom. Everyone was sweating at the show; then then sweat froze when we walked outside!!! Ahhhh youth.....

  • yeah, i was at that show too. unbelievable!

  • how long ago would this have been?

    so good:)

  • great performance

  • I know a lady who said she stopped listening to Fishbone because she saw Angelo's penis at a show. I said, "That's what happens at a Fishbone show; you get punched in the face, and Angelo flashes you."

  • hahahaha

  • @AddictedToFunAndMeth i saw them at Warped Tour maaaany years ago ( i would have loved to see them alone , but thats all i had ) long story short ... it was in the middle of a race car track ( not running ) but just over the fence there was a race . as the crowd was let out across the track , we could hear the other cars , i yelled out "CAAAARRR!!" AND THE CROWD SCATTERD ! ! haha almost got charged for inciting a riot ! the point? fishbone fuckin rocked the show hard and i almost went to prison

  • this is your brain on PCP

  • In 29 years of live shows, these guys are top 3 without question !!!!!!

  • These guy's put on a helluva show!

  • Love how Kendall switch axes .

  • Fishbone rules.

  • amazing band... still laying out the nuttmeg!

  • I saw this a show this tour, in Aspen '91...they were the first killer band to play there and they blew the roof off. Best show I've ever seen in my life, hands down...They probably hated that show, there was an altercation with a fan that sprayed the keyboard player with beer and it got ugly after that...he was a friend, but he pulled the N word and ended up getting his ass kicked outside the club by some of the band... great f'ckin' show!

  • Has there ever been a piccolo trumpet solo over acoustic guitar like that? It gave me the chills when I first heard it in '91 and still does today!

Love Chris Dowd running around with his keyboard too!

  • You guy are crazy... Fishbone was the baddest band in the 80s. Not even the Chili Peppers (except flea) had the energy. You needed a mellow song as a break because the energy was so powerful. You had a large diverse crowd from nationality and gender. With there funk and rock style, not even today, no one can compete... of course if they were still the original band. It's hot so clothes off and get in your drawers.

  • Please post the live version of Sunless Saturday from their appearance on Saturday NIght Live!!! It was FUCKIN EPIC!!!!!!!

    P.S Been a fan since 1984.

    Cheers,

  • Yeah, I've been waiting to find that vid for 15 years. Maybe the greatest performance i'd ever seen. For sure the best ever on SNL.

  • You are right, that performance on SNL was top notch! If tpeople think the Arsenio appearance was the bomb they are truyly missing out on this one.

  • Seriously, i fell asleep watching this Arsenio performance right after seeing their set on SNL. UNFUCKIN' BELIEVABLE!!! They might actually be using that footage on the upcoming Fishbone Documentary motion picture film.

  • i remember seeing it on YouTube at the end of last year

  • Bring back, Kendall, J.B, Fish, Dowd and Dirty Walt!

  • Fishbone made some good songs

AND bad ones. They are a live band

    and not a recording band.

The records had too much SKA influence

    to sell mainstream.

  • I agree. I'm a fan of Fishbone, and have all their albums, and listened to every song!!

=> Fishbone definetely have songs that SUCK ASS on every release, but mostly they have NICE stuff.

I consider Fishbone's greatest-hits album "ESSENTIAL FISHBONE" as the only solid album to date, and "TRUTH AND SOUL" (1988) as their best STUDIO album.

If "REALITY OF MY SURROUNDINGS" didn't have "Fight The Youth" and "Sunless Saturday" It would suck!!

By the way, this song is the ANTHEM of FUNKMETAL

  • Reality is kinda inconsistent. I agree about Truth and Soul -- it is their best studio release. No really bad songs on that album.

  • Truth and Soul was one of the best albums of that era, period.

Props to Fishbone! Saw them at least once in the late eighties..

  • truth and soul is one of the best albums i've ever heard

  • this is the version of fishbone i miss most - the original - including john bigham. just a drop the bomb energy band i miss period.

  • the best band, that didnt get their payment , dem, was a good band, and i hate they didnt get what they deserved,

  • love angelo love love love him. crazy fucker.

  • Tightest band on the planet.

  • Shit yeah!

  • Having seen this bond live in the late 80's. I can't think of a single band that has more RAW energy in their performances.

  • Kendall Jones rocks on the axe....

  • lol

  • soia48-this IS very true but it would be nice to be recognized when you have not. Even our good bluesmen and do-wop groups get inducted. So why NOT fishbone?

  • when they noinate for rock ans roll hall of fame in 2010-fishbone MUST be on the ballot!! who else you gonna choose-wham, bananarama-ick! FISHBONE in RR hall 2010.

  • hof is not the judge of a band. especially this one

  • i feel this song...

  • What a kick ass performance! I am most impressed with how great the vocals and backing vocals are, especially with how energetic they are. The camera angles and movement is really amazing as well!

  • Hands down the best Live band period.....!!!!!

  • what cult did kendall join?

  • Dont you wish there were more of these bands that do it naturally? Nowadays, new bands seem to struggle. These bands made it look like they never evn triede

  • I've been a fishbone fan for a couple months now and this band has blown me away

  • what ever happened to kendall? i heard that he's in bad shape but thats just hearsay

  • I wish I knew too. Massive Fishbone fan.

  • Kendall is in great shape and in talks with the o.g. members about doing a reunion.

  • Love how Kendall switches axes....

  • How often do you hear a song that is actually better live than recorded? The energy is unbelievable too.

  • I agree, rarely is a song better live and this one is. You can't capture what they do live on a CD.

  • KICK any Band ass period ...that includes the Peppers ...the energy ....
