Even the judge from Mexico had JMM losing by 4 rounds, take away the points deducted for low blows, then the Mexican judge still had John winning by a couple rounds. I look at this fight and see it as pretty even as for as punches landed and pain inflicted, but John clearly controls ring generalship, and makes Marquez miss and look sloppy throughout the fight. It could have been a draw but I can't see how any one can say JMM went in there and beat this man on his home turf.
JMM's sloppiest fight -- did not dominate, missed lots of punches, and hadn't put CJ in real trouble, adding the fact that he allowed CJ to fight a competitive fight
CJ wins -- thats what you expect in a hometown fight like this
No doubt, its all good. I doubt Marquez will fight anyone below 140 now. He'll probably fight Malignaggi or Hatton and then hang em up. Chris John will probably end up fighting one of Yuriorkis Gamboa or Juan Manuel Lopez in a unification fight real soon.
I can see where your coming from, absolutely. To say the decision was suspect because of the scores is fair. But OBJECTIVELY, this was a very tit for tat affair. Very give and take. I didn't really see either guy dominating the other and had Marquez not had that point deduction, on my card he would have won. Agree that in the USA this may have been very different but Marquez should have known better than to go to Indonesia and expect a competitive decision to go his way.
I'm not saying I agree with the scores. All I'm saying is that this was a competitive fight and there were alot of give and take rounds. Sure Marquez was more powerful with his punches, but John also avoided alot of them and his jab was really giving Marquez alot of problems. Again, the scores were terrible. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a close fight.
round 7 - same story as the previous round. marquez gets a little wild, throws a lot, misses a lot. john waits patiently for marquez to come in, lands one or two punches and slips away. again, i gave the round to john.
round 8 - another ridiculous low blow warning, but marquez wins the round convincingly.
round 6 - another close round. midway through the round they exchange shots, with marquez getting the better of john. john then goes back to his boxing and lands a couple of good, clean shots in the last minute, winning the round in my score card.
marquez gets warned for a low blow, but if you play it back, and pay close attention, you'll see that it was clearly on the belt line, which is even a little higher than it's supposed to be.
even marquez himself commented after this loss that he has to change his style from just being a counter puncher to a more aggressive style. wouldn't that be conceding that he lost?
No. A counter puncher/boxer, no matter how clearly he wins, leaves his fate to the judges. Judges that can be biased, incompetent, or be bribed. Example: this fight.
If you knock em out then you don't have to deal with that shit. That's why Marquez said that.
@Edward90042 sorry.. but in indonesia, you have to knockout their champion 2 times before you win. hahahaha (well.. i'm still waiting for the people to suddenly explode...)
anyone can make a wild guess as to who's watching this fight and commenting that marquez is robbed again. these are the same people who's insisting that marquez won 2 fights with manny. perhaps no one can fault them. they have to defend their last man standing. go tell about this vid to more of your people and post comments. you might just knock out chris john by sheer volume of opinion. at the end of the day, marquez still is the bigger loser.
yeah!!!! right, so you think, bertto over collazo was a right decition, and the draw of martinez vs cintron was a great decision too, come on!!!!! in this fight evidently won Marquez. The fight vs Pac man was another story, i saw to win marquez by one point but it was a really close fight, i got why the judges give that desicion, but in this fight you must be a blind person to say John win.
Uh, no. Don't take the anyone's word for it if they post it here on youtube. But you can't argue with professional analysts and commentators, ask any of them and they'll tell you that Marquez clearly won this fight. The fight with Pacquiao was very close, but the numbers show that Marquez won that second fight. Even Filipino analysts say Marquez won. Plus the commentators exagerate when chris john get ONE questionable punch in. They gave him too much credit when credit wasn't due.
i can't argue with analysts or commentators?? LOL. is that an opinion or a prayer? i don't even tempt myself to listen to some commentators specially when they sound like they've never don a pair of gloves. sure, they get paid for what they do. but does that mean they are more capable of giving an intelligent and unbiased opinion than the rest? that is a very poor position.
Also, Marquez was getting in some clean body shots, but the ref kept telling to keep his punches up. The punch at 1:18 was clean, maybe a little close to the belt line but good nonetheless. Chris John didn't eve react to it, 3 seconds after the punch he was still in fighting stance, but one the ref warns Marquez to keep his punches up, Chris John acts like he got hit below the belt. Look at the bad acting job from 1:22-1:28, it has to be some of the worst I've seen. This fight was fully biased.
Listen to these biased commentators. At around 4:25 Marquez clocks John with a clean right hand that folds his neck down and the commentator goes "oh?" Few seconds later Chris John skims Marquez with an uppercut and the commentator wets his panties "UPPERCUT, CHRIS JOHN!!!!", all the while Marquez is unaffected by the grazing shot and hits John with a clean right hook to the body, shortly followed by his own left uppercut that maybe was a bit more effective than John's. Story of this fight...
your comment shows lack of respect and no boxing knowledge. did i mention sexism? Marquez 1 this fight, although not officially, but not because John ran. He didn't run, he got backed up by Marquez's aggression & effective counter-punching. John was merely being smart, surviving. Were he 2 turn his back 2 Marquez, that would b considered running. He just reacted 2 a better fighter beating him, hoping 2 counter Marquez, but was unable 2 do so effectively. 2 call him a "pussy" is pretty ignorant.
sorry, but i watch it about 4 times, and neither one of those punches were low. the second time he warned him, marquez didnt even hit him. so far i got marquez 6 rds. chris john 2 rds. to be honest at the 2:50 mark, that was the FIRST clean shot chris john landed thru 7 rounds of boxing.
I thought the same and just to add... cj fights way different the mayweather cuz cj jumps in and out and typical 1-2 punch... my take is these judges fell for the sound of the fight rather then the actual fight.
Replying to both you guys. chris johns tactic's isnt very good for marquez.. you cant really counter punch much when your opponent is more defensive and keeps on his foot. jab jab out in upper cut out. marquez throws the harder punches but honestly chris john did a great job deflecting and avoiding alot of them. marquez def did land the harder shots but cj landed more. the first warning on the LB i it was below the belt but didnt do harm, the 2nd one wasnt near cj.
Rickyboy, now you claim to know where Australia and Japan are but still said CJ only fought at home (Indonesia) only. So, when you made the previous statement, did you try to fuck up people's perception or what? And as for Japan and Australia are all garbage boxers, I recommend you to learn a bit before making more stupid comments. Next time you are in this part of the world, go visit Japan. I can help to arrange some practice for you with local boxers there. Let's see how much you can take it.
if you watch closely every time marquez lunged in, john pulled his head down, ref could have warned him or deducted a point. but apparently this kid only fight at home so he can have the benefits. wow what a champion
rickyboy, this "kid" defended his title 11x, out of which 3x in Japan, 2x in Australia, and 1x in the US. Unless you think Japan, Australia, and US are all part of Indonesia, you got to admit you don't know shit. wow, what a smart boxing analyst you are rickyboy.
name one good boxer that came out of japan or australia? yea that's what i thought. japan and australia i know where they are at, but who cares. japan and australia= garbage boxers!
A lot of rounds are very close and probally 3 or 4 rounds can be scored even that is how close this fight is but the 3 rounds that were won clearly were won by JMM.
this is a very boring fight. this is a world campionship fight. Marquez is one of the top fighter pound for pound. Cris john is undefeated champion. Yet very boring, bcoz of marquez style. Marquez is very boring. His fantastic boxing skills is incidentally a no good style in the eyes of the boxing fans! Fans dont Count the number of jab landed, THey dont like counterpunching.
