As per your comment on "nations who harbour people responsible for killing 3,000 Americans"... Surely you cannot in good faith believe that the destruction of the world trade centre was a conspiracy of the entire country of Afghanistan? Do all civilians and all children need to be punished? Are they too responsible for what happened? These renigades who killed 3000 Americans are aweful I wont doubt it, but how many have we now killed? Hundreds of thousand?
In the defeats you mentioned, Democrats were leading our nation. Pakistan backs the Taliban or things would be getting much better, still they're not bad. Women were raped under the taliban! The Democrats need the Republicans to lose, or why else would we let the Dems lead again?
Woah! Where are you getting your information? How were you informed that 'things are not bad?'
Furthermore, this issue is not democrats vs republicans. Outside the US no one sees American political parties invading other countries. Its quite simply Americans.
Its odd though isnt it? That shes so proud of women now legally being able to get an education... But how did these women really benefit? We killed their husbands and children... What's more- most women are way too scared now to go to school. The violence has escalated exponentially and they are, now more than ever, being persecuted. Real change can not be made from this type of foreign intervention.
without intervention, they'd be under sharia law, and be beaten, married by 9...you need to stop hating Bush. Are you suggesting that nations who harbor people responsible for killing 3,000 Americans...just be let be?
Dont you dare try to put words in my mouth Young773 I said nothing of the sort. My only comment was that you take an actual look at what is happening my Afghanistan right now. Instead of being beaten, women are raped. Tell me, which would you prefer? Violence is at an all-time high and the everyday living conditions for the majourity of women are far worse than they have ever been (even under the Taliban). You need only look at the information coming from most majour NGO's and academics.
Please keep in mind that most of the victimes of our attacks have been civilians and a disproportionate amount have been children. So you might now be able to see why they arent exactly thrilled to have us there.
Why exactly do you think that military intervention will work? Do you not remember Somalia? Vietnam? Its not like we have a real solid precident of achievement in this field. The classic example brought up in debates like these is Japan; but honestly its the only successful historical example of intervention and since then there have been over a half dozen failed exploits.
p.s. I dont hate Bush by any means. To hate him would mean that I cared about him. I quite simply think that he is a dangerous idiot of the worse sort. He seems to truly believe what he says and, as I have pointed out, only selectively considers any information that comes his way. He judges other cultures based upon white, christian and american standards ignoring the fact that the whole world cannot be viewed under this narrow lens. Good leaders cannot be so ignorant.
Sorry, Mrs. Bush, but we`re still fighting for women rights. Actually, women rights aren't the goal. Law and order are the goal, women rights should follow suit. But it's an ongoing process. Thanks for mentioning it though. You jumped the gun, but women's education is important to me too.

Sharia law is getting in the way of Women's rights in afghanistan. Trying to change that makes them break the Law.
