I would say that America is not a monarchy, it is not even a country it is a continent!!!!! Oh but the USA is an empire of money and poor countries pleading at US' feet a few money to help them with their problems, yeah let's send them our army to kill their citizens and to steal their money to help them. and , by the way, tell the soldiers that they will die too, but it wont be our fault.
hey wey I wanna shake your hand.I have ewatched literally hundreds of video clips of those attacks on the twin towers and seen interviews with people that spoke of hearing multiple explosions such as the ones used by demo experts. I sen that pentagon one too, and I freezed framed that shot. I have never sen a jet with no wings, and never seen anyone fly if 15 feet off the ground. THis was a conspirisy bigger than any other. The Bush administration orchastrated this not some Arab guy in the M.E
hey sixstring, there are a million reasons to haten the former fuckhead president. You must have you head farther up your ass than Bush did to not see that. Are you blind.started 2 wars, wiped his ass with the bill of rights, screwed over New Orleans and let hundreds of poeple die that should not have because he took his sweet ole time, and FEMA, Jesus Christ!! He did'nt care because most of those left stranded and dying were poor black people. The list goes on for what he did or did'nt do.
Eddie, Springstein, Dave Matthews, Green Day. All of them have exposed their absolute ignorance and stupidity when it comes to politics. I used to think Eddie was intelligent, but his hatred for the former president is unfounded.
I don't remember Eddie bitching too much when a democrat was in office giving no bid contracts to Haliburton. These guys are all politcal hacks, nothing more.
PJ has lost their right to calling themselves an independent band.
@SixStringBurner you should loss your right to comment. how can you say theyre not an idependent band? did you happen to see who made their new record? why dont you do some research and then make your opinion. stop watching the t.v. and get involed. maybe you will learn something and stop spreading your lies.
Im not far right. Most people, partisans mostly, tend to lump people they disagree with as belonging to a certain ideology. Yes, I support the war. That's all I would have to say and someone would label me a right winger, even though they have no idea what my views are on other issues.
Yes I know Eddie doesn't support the war. Most musicians don't, it's their right not to. It's also my right to critcize them for their ignorance. I'll say it again, America is not a Monarchy.
Eddie has always been a hypocrite. He claims to be for peace and freedom of speech, yet he had no problem with impaling a Bush mask and stomping it with his foot as his sang "Bushleaguer."
Yeah, that really sounds like the actions of a man who cares about peace.
I would like to ask Eddie when he thinks the US became a monarchy/ oligarchy. He's such a moron politcally that he believes that one man can start a war.
Take political science 101 , you'll learn about this thing called Congress.
I'm apologise if I'm wrong here but I assume you're an American. There are few people in the world pushing for peace more than that man. He's taken part in countless bits of activism, including preaching peace in Tibet. As someone who has lived with suffering, I think he understands the horrors of war more than most and I think he is right when he insults your political system. It's about time people like you stopped putting so much faith in a far right system that is not at all democratic.
@SixStringBurner AND YOURE A DUMB ASS FOR MAKING SUCH STUPID ASS COMMENTS. AT LEAST ED IS INVOLED. YOURE JUST PISSED BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE YOUR HILLBILLY ATTITUDE.
I used to respect Eddie and Pearl Jam, but that was back when he was actually an independent.. Eddie and co no longer have that luxury however. They have in the last 8 years backed 2 Democratic candidates. Make no mistake, these guys are partisan hacks, nothing more.
I would be embarrassed if I were as obtuse and naive as Eddie Vedder in politcal tirade and vitriol for Bush. It's like he has zero concept of how American government really works.
im confused...we have a war on drugs, a war on gangs and a war on illegal aliens( although only the mexican ones not the others).
we cant "win" these wars which pale next to "terrorism"..so why does anyone think a "war" on "terrorism" can be "won". its utterly ridiculous...its just pure spin.
war on teror is just a front for bush's true goal, control the oil fields. fuck that people before profit id rather ride a bike for the rest of my life than support this oil war
thank god someone in this world has sense! and yeah..i would rather ride a bike also..or use a horse and carriage before i would maim, kill, or mutilate anyone (esp. children) from Iraq. i wish or people thought like you!
wake up america iraq is not being faught to defeat terrorism is a fucking oil war. ill be damned if im gonna support are military members being killed so exxon moblie can make profits
We killed Al-Zaqarwi in Iraq and he was one of Bin Laden's top henchmen. They moved into that region after we initially went into Afghanistan. Intelligence indicates Bin Laden (if he is still alive) is hiding out somewhere in the mountains of Pakistan. Pakistan is an ally nation and we can't just go in there with force to root him out. Wish it was that simple to get him, but it's not.
don't take advantage of me because i wasn't there. i'm not saying you dind't have it rough. "We don't like being told we are over there for 'no reason' and that the war is 'immoral and wrong' and etc". i believe you. but what explaination is there? it certainly had nothing to do with terrorism. iraq was not a threat to america. that was made pretty clear.
i'm not demeaning your service or anything but, honsetly, with what is known today, what was the reason for invading? i'm not attacking you i'm just trying to be realistic.
You have to put yourself into my mindset to understand where i'm coming from. I've seen heads and limbs in the streets, I had mortars and IED's go off way too close for my comfort, I seen friends get hit and wounded, and yes, even seen some friends die. We don't like being told we are over there for "no reason" and that the war is "immoral and wrong" and etc...we want to know we served a purpose and fought for a good cause. When all is said and done, I guess history will be the judge.
My friend is a social worker in a VA mental health department and I've said how can someone who has lost a limb, friend, family member in this war and think it was for nothing? But tragicaly, our leaders have taken that patriotism for granted. Would you want your comrades to be sent into a war without proper intell; we had no people on the ground in iraq b/f the invasion; our intell was based on Chalabi's intersts & who knows what else?
Well, I was at Lollapalooza and when Ed sang these lyrics the crowd went wild. He also brought a disabled Iraq war veteran up on stage during the concert. Maybe you should check out that footage. PJ are in a position to be create change so they choose to be influential. Unfortunately, others are also in positions to create change and they fail time and time again, choosing only to abuse their power, take lives, ruin families, lie to the country. Now who is un-American? Rock on Ed!
Ahh using an injured soldier on stage, not that cool as it sounds. We are always being used as props, it's sickening. I'm not really THAT serious about sending Eddie to Gitmo, BUT he's a leftest hippie and would probably oppose any war. I'm no champion for the Iraq War, eventhough I do support it, I do know Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. However, there is enemies that pose danger and they HAVE to delt with.
crowd seems to agree with eddie...and there not american al queda deff a over reacation...people have freedom of speech they can say whatever they want but i agree it shouldnt be brought up in a music festival
Eddie needs a Marine boot up his ass for disrespecting our commander in chief. Just like that bitch Pink, these cowardly liberal musicians take shots at our President, which is exactly what the ENEMY wants. Pearl Jam is basically American Al-Queda.
excuse me, disrespecting th commander in chief like it or not is protected under the constitution. it would be useful to remember that defending the country is so that it conserves it's liberties. not to mention that if there were ever a commander in chief more deserving to be disrespected it's this numnb-nuts.
Of course he has the right to say what he wants, he also has the right to get an ass kicking for it. Bashing Bush is such a cliche these days, everyone is doing it and it solves nothing. He is the President for another year and a half, so just quit whining and bitching about it. If you want to get into a war debate with me, bring it on. I will kindly remind you who really voted for the war in Iraq, a little group of people called CONGRESS, not just one man named George.
and why not make a song like Toby Keith did about the Taliban? instead of bashing your own leader, why not bash a group of fundamentalist Jihadists that murder everyone they consider infidels? I think they are a much more deserving target.
they've been against his presidency since day 1. plus you cannot get any less comercial than pearl jam so the know they have nothing to gain theu're speaking from the heart about the incompetence of the guy they're supposed to be represented by. i don't see what's wrong with that. elected officails work for the people so it's their authority that has to be questioned constantly. if they fuck up, they aren't doing their job. so criticism is completely legitimate.
you're right. they are more diserving for an attack. but it worth keeping in mind that these dangerous people are still out and about while you're presiuous leader is yet to do anything about it. you cannot possibly think at this stage that iraq has anything to do with the terrorists that are out to get you. not that i'm belittling your service but why is it that so many other iraq veterans have spoken out against the war and bush?
It's naive to think Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism, of course it does. I fought them on a daily basis, they are insane and out to kill us. Iraq just wasn't directly involved with 9/11, no argument there. Not that many Iraq Vet have spoke out, it's just the few that do, get TV time. No newsreporter has ever asked me about my opinions and I was in some of the bloodiest and violent battles of the war so far.
i meant the terrorists that are out to get you. is there terrorism in the world? there has been terrorism since the begining of time and there will continue to be terrorism. this "war on terror" is not a plan it's a slogan. it's a bumper sticker that has been used by the bush administration to divert attention from the fact that they have so far failed to do anything about the terrorists that are behind 9/11. there isn't a world wide terrorist conspiracy that's out to get the u.s.
fedeman, the war on terror is NOT just a bumper sticker. That right there is why I have a hard time talking to people like you. You don't understand, because you haven't lived it and witnessed it firsthand. We never stopped going after those behind 9/11. We are still fighting them (al-qaeda) as we speak in Afghanistan AND in Iraq.
I hate when politics get tossed into music events. >:( Also, those two choruses were censored by AT&T on the live broadcast, which I also thought was wrong, but this kinda shit just doesn't belong at a music festival.
I think I'm just bitter about the whole thing because when the Irish festival came through around election time, they had a big rally for Kerry since he was Irish. 90% of the people booed them, not because they didn't like Kerry, but because they brought politics into a cultural celebration.
reminds me of people thats say "oh i'm not 'in' to politics". What kind of BS is that? You are basically saying "oh i don't care about my, my countries or the worlds future"
Music is a form of expression, freedom of speech and individuality. It is a way to voice opinions in a very unique way. Dylan did it, Lennon did it, Young did it, Zappa did it, Cash did it, and musicians should continue to integrate politics into lyrics because that is one effective way of voicing your constitutional rights.
we don't need your liberal hogwash . Run around preaching about tolerance, then tell people to find another home who have another viewpoint than you. Makes a lotta sense. Nonsensical even. ..... PJ, Shut up and play. They're political hacks.

Rest in Peace to the victims of the September 11 attacks. Seek the truth so that they did not die in vain. Ask questions about these things:
-WTC 7 collapse & Larry Silverstein WTC Leaseholder Insurance winfall,
-5 frames of attack on Pentagon looks like a missile,
-'punch out' typical of missile penetrated third ring of pentagon.
-exterior Pentagon photos after attack but prior to roof collapse do not reveal damage of a Boeing 757,
-Shanksville crash site is just a hole in the ground.
