I did this Too I had 2000 Templar footmen charging 5000 Dismounted Chivalric Knights and 1000 Calvalry Men Flanking along with 500 Archers to the right so it was massive losses 3500 vs 5000 templars had 1246/3500 alive Chivs had 2732/5000

they're Leader died so they routed alot

the teutonic knights borrowed their military structure from the templars. they were originally hospitalers who later became a mililtary order. Phillip secularized the possessions of the Templars and the Teutonics in France. The Templars moved east to settle switzerland and the Teutonics settled Prussia. They were smart and merged with the oligarchy, and the Kaiser was a descendant of Albrecht of Brandenburg who was a grand master that later secularized prussia

They gained territory militarily and brought in "Junkers" and common Germans to colonize Prussia. The Teutonic Order started out as hospitalers and under the patronage of the Duke of Swabia, and became a military and hospital order modeled after the Order of St. John and the Knights Templar

It's a great game, but if you aren't into Medieval era warfare, you should probably get Empire or Rome Total War. If you like the time period, M2TW is awesome and has a big mod community too :D

Not all of them were bad. I beleive some of my ancestors were Teutonic Knights, but, my loyalty is to the Templars. But yes during the Poland?lithuania campaigns, they were scumbags. I beleive they had more self control in the Holy Land, but I may be wrong.

Knights Templar were Jewish, Teutonic Knights - pre-Nazis - I think to see them battle it out is kind of obvious.

The original "Pruzzi" tribe was baltic and pagan. And it constantly raided the Poles.

The Polish king offered the Teutonic order to take control of Prussia and to make the Prussians good Christians and westerners. The Teutonic order itself was usualy made of Dutch, Germans, Swiss and Austrians as members. In the late period of Polish and Czechians aswell.

But the Teutonic order advanced further into the baltic states.

The Teutonic orders latin name is "Ordo Theutonicorum" (Wich Germany translates to "German Order") .....and Germany itself was "Regnum Theutonicorum" (Wich even English sources translate into "Kingdom of Germany")

So why do they translate "Theutonicorum" once as "Teutons" and once as "Germany"?

So they advanced further and grew powerfull. Russia wanted the baltic states themselfs and the Poles meanwhile didnt like the Teutons anymore. So there came the problems... Eastern Prussia however remained Teutonic. And the colors and symbols of the Teutonics became Prussian. In other words: the Prussians are the descants of the Teutons.
