Reading Comprehension. Nothing determines ones ability to learn and understand more. All other subjects are pointless without it. I have a reasonably high IQ and I can say from personal experience that reading comprehension trumps IQ when it comes to learning something new. Students who are in middle school or high school who can't read at a basic level can't learn at any level unless their teacher holds their hand, in which case if they fail it's the teachers fault.
