I adore Marius! I have Blood & Gold in hardcover, on audio cassette, and in paperback (twice!). Would love to have seen his character fleshed out even more or in a movie. I always imagined a blond Ralph Fiennes or maybe a blond Michael Fassbender. Blond Joaquin Phoenix? Give James McAvoy 10 years and a bottle of bleach and he could be perfect... Pandora: a brunette Laura Linney, maybe Jules Bruff or Rachel Weisz. (Young) Amadeo: Connor Kramme.
well I didn't read The Vampire Armand yet,but so far I wish I could just understand why so many people like him. Honestly...I have no empathy for the guy
@GiuliaLovegood I lost all my sympathy for him when I read the Vampire Armand. I realized that my primary infatuation was due to Louis romantic sense of the reality that surrounded him.
I don't have a favorite vampire in general, because vampires were never a big deal to me. And even in the VC I don't have one. I've always loved Louis for his beauty and tragedy and later I started to love Armand. I always thought Marius was just a badass and Lestat I love for different reasons than most other fans. I love Lestat for his subtle, humanity. He just has these blonde moments, acts of stupidity that make him endearing to me.
If I had to choose my top ten..... 1: Armand 2: Marius 3: Lestat 4: Louis 5: Alucard (Hellsing) 6: Damon Salvador (VD) 7: Stefan Salvador (VD) 8: Daniel 9: Jasper Hale (Twilight) 10: Seras Victoria (Hellsing)
I would have to say its either Lestat or Claudia because altough they disagree their disagreement is because they are too much alike trust me im an expert when it comes to things that go bump in the night lycans, vamps, demons etc. etc. etc.
I saw that and I think Gloria Holden was more a vampire than Bela. I saw the films back to back on TCM and his daughter was much more simpathetic, she cried for her Father's death, and yet it seems she hated him for making her a vampire.
My favorite vampire is Marius... ok, can it be two?? Marius and Pandora then! I looooooove Blood and Gold, and the Pandora book. I'm completely nuts about these two. Although I pretty much like all of the Anne Rice vampire characters.
My favorite vampire is Klaus Kinski in the remake of Nosferatu. It's not a comedy, but it has these terribly black, comic moments because Werner Herzog wanted to turn the myth of the vampire as sexual seducer on it's head by making it into a figure of self loathing, fear & sexual inhibition. It has one of the best casts of any horror film including Bruno Ganz & the ravishing, Isabelle Adjani.
Lestat, the James Bond of vampires, is my forever favorite! I read The Vampire Lestst when I was 13, and my life was changed. I read it in a hazy fog, as if there were no one and nothing else around me. I wanted to live in Lestat's world, and a part of me still does!
@jcravens073 Ah, Anne Rice's novels will do that to you. It's okay. I remember when I was 15 and I picked up Interview with the Vampire and had no clue of a film adaptation for it until my uncle had told me about the film. Lestat's world is amazing, makes any of her readers want to live in ancient times when Lestat and Louis were roaming around Lousiana. But there is one downside to wanting to live in a Vampires world, you will live with tremendous guilt on your shoulders-eternally.
i like how in 30 days of night they maid them seem like monsters creatures of evil non human demons they didn't speak English they spoke in a strange tongue they were creatures that you could not interview and this is how i think vampires should be portrayed. but i still did like interview with the vampire seen it before 30 days of night liked the idea of how a vampire makes another that its a choice and u must be drained then drink the vampires blood not just some cliche virus theory
Armand...oh, how I fell in love with him in Interview with the vampire. An eternal teenager. Then his book was released, and oh, I just drowned in his sorrows. I want to comfort him. I am in love with him. LOL.
I don't know exactly why, but my fav vampire is Marius :) I'm fascinated by his mental strength and endurance, imagine after all those years still cherishing and loving life :) and imagine the knowledge he received in his long journey. I love his look on the world, positive, and yet aware of all the evil... and I love that he is an vampire artist :D
But of course, we all love the Brat Prince Lestat ;)
No matter what, Lestat de Liouncourt is one of the most amazing characters and the most impressive vampiric presence I've ever encounter. The book with the same title is among my favorites, the detailed images and Anne Rice's unique way of writting made it all unforgettable. And no, the movies in which Lestat is present are nothing compared to the books. I definately suggest you reading them!
Of course Lestat is my fave vampire. However, another vampire I love is Radu from Subspecies movies played by Andres Hove. A horrifically beautiful vampire
