man that's crazy, the last time I was down there they were still building it. it looks like a major time saver, but the old bridge had so much childhood nostalgia for me! I remember getting so MAD when we'd finally get to the beach (bout a 30min drive from van vleck) and we'd have to wait FOREVER at the bridge. I guess it'll also be nice during hurricanes, won't have to worry about if the water might rise too high and close the bridge
I grew up down there...it's nice to zip on over the new bridge, but I kind of miss the old one. Sitting and waiting, watching the shrimp boats and barges roll through.

So I take it that the old bridge has been torn down? can you still get down there under the old bridge to fish?

yeah no kidding that bridge is a life saver, especialy when making a beer run and you get caught on both sides waiting!

Thank God, the worst was when the bridge would go out for the day and you couldn't get over.

A lot! It wasn't fun waiting 30 minutes for the barges to go by.
