I like what you put in the info. However, I don't like how you state that the socialist system failed. Hitler and Stalin referred to themselves as socialists. This was not so. Socialism is not a bad thing. We have it here in Canada, and throughout the years have proved that it works. Canada is a true socialist country. He was a racist and was guilty of participating in slavery but he did fight against the institution of slavery and pushed the ideas of liberty that are fundamental to opposing it's existence.

Jefferson wasn't allowed to free his slaves under Virginia and North Carolina law because he had too much debt. Also, it's stupid to denounce everything about a person because he did a few things wrong. If it weren't for Jefferson's contributions, what basis would you have to denounce slavery in the first place? Slavery just came from the commonly accepted idea that children inherited the debt of their parents even when the parents' estate was worthless or even negative.

I think you need to really read the lyrics to understand it's about the time during the Cold War when people were building bomb shelters in their homes. I was a toddler back then and I was terrified--the silly movie a Blast From the Past isn't all that off.

This song is originally written when the cold war was in full swing between the free world and communism. As a German, the song writer was writing about something deep, a country divided, a people divided and wasted youth w/out dreams. I remember were I was when the Berlin Wall went down. One of those moment in history where you remember exactly how you felt and what you were doing. We had tears in your eyes. Now this crap JZ talks about houchie mamas and ass and weeds.
