Great, great film actress. My favorite Christie performances are: "McCabe and Mrs. Miller"; "Don't Look Now"; "Shampoo"; "Afterglow"; and "Away From Her". I like her in "Darling". But, I think the Oscar that year should have gone to Elizabeth Hartman for her effective, emotional performance in "A Patch of Blue".
It was a very difficult year to choose. Many feel Andrews shoul've one for holding together SOM. But Christie was, like Hepburn a decade earlier, 'of the moment'. She also was in Zhivago that year and I'm sure that helped in the voter's minds.
Hartman was a great actress but a very fragile person. Perhaps her life would've been different had she won the award that night.
She makes me proud to be British. with people like Victoria Beckham and Jade Goody representing us I always felt a little bit embarassed about being a Brit but with someone like Julie Christie around- i feel proud!
How can you place Victoria beckham in any other class than overrated social ucplimber with horibable, taste ..style.. mannres and pointless purpose in HUMANITY.
She actually won the Oscar four days after her 25th birthday (April 14). Therefore, she had a belated birthday present right there. I don't think she even mentions it.
She definitely doesn't like to be the center of attention. But when you look like she does that is kind of hard to avoid. Julie Cristie still looks pretty amazing in Away From Her, so I guess she got genetics that simply worked.
Wow, they're so close, shoving microphones in her face. I'd feel claustrophobic. Nowadays, the winners get a stage and a standing mic, while the reporters stay at least 30 feet away.
she's so jittery! (:

She seems so uncomfortable, i don't think she's ever really enjoyed her fame. Great actress tho, and arguably the most beautiful face ever in film.

Can't agree more. Beauty and Brain. Just like Ingrid Bergman and Naomi Watts...
I would love to ask her out although i'm just a young man. (and she's already 60 this time)
