No you can't skip ALL text, you can only skip some.

You can still speed it up, though - hold A as the characters talk.

And as a sidenote you won't be able to achieve times like this, so see the leaderboards' fastest times for what sort of thing you'll be able to achieve ;)

There are different tricks in the XBLA version which are used though; in Mumbo's Mountain people save and quit half way through the run to avoid having to traverse half the level and to substitute some mumbo tokens with others from Grunty's Lair. There's also various tricks with the washing machine in other levels to save time when collecting jiggies. I never really liked running with these tactics though so my best times for individual levels aren't very high up there.

They use very bizarre techniques, including "game saving", which is really a bit of a cheat. To do a full level runthrough, probably 7 or 8 minutes is the least possible. My own record is only just over 9 minutes, and it uses my own route that isn't very good. ;)

The XBLA version allows you to exit the level as soon as you collect the last item, as well as being able to quit at any time and come back from the starting pad (a save warp) without incurring time penalties. You don't know what you're talking about.

I checked the time after I exitted the level and collected the Witch Switch jiggy. FYI, the timer stops every time you go through a door and have the 'jiggy transition' thing.

BTW, is there any specific technique to going the fastest without talon trot, besides just rolling and jumping? I'm pretty sure making short, quick jumps with talon trot is also faster than otherwise.

Talon trot + jumping and skidding; you get a temporary speed boost from the skid, but you'll have to jump again before the skid's afterlag.

My best time is now 6.15, although I can still do better.

oh and also, marsh's times in general suck (therefore beating his times =/= world record), it's just that he didn't make any huge mistakes; that's the only reason his time hasn't been beaten yet.

As much as I'd like to get 2:40 or so, I know I'm not going to because I make too many mistakes.

I'm pretty sure my 10:14 on Clankers is not a world record.

In general, if you think there are 10 seconds of improvement to be had, then it's not a world record.
