  • The master of Uilleann pipes.

  • Go Jerry!

  • Thanks for the tune names, @macwarner57. I love hornpipes and that little tickety-squall bit, and in particular that "Friendly Visit" piece. I wonder if friendly refers to Quakers (Society of Friends), or is just plain ol' 'friendly'?

  • saw him perform in church today. Amazing musician

  • Man can this guy PLAY!!! Thanks for posting

  • 3:20

And that is why these are the Ferraris of the bagpipe world: You make-a mistake, I-a kill!

  • Jerry, do you remember the Merchant Pub Dublin, and the group the Heather Breeze .. 'God be with thoses Days' .. Good to hear you playing as Good as Ever!

  • Modern day master!!!

  • Is that Chief Oneill's Hornpipe? Thats my absolute favorite Uilleann Pipe song and the version I have is from The Chieftains on "Further Down The Old Plank Road". Well done sir!

  • Yes, it's Chief Oneill's Hornpipe (or Chief O'neill's Favourite). Cheers

  • Good man yerself !!.....

  • great playing and music

  • Hi, I knew Jerry in l985, met him in Norfolk, VA. Where is that beautiful long c urly black hair? Looks like he cut it. So curly, let it grow, Jerry. You wrote me for a while, but I lost track of you. I loved your music.

  • YEAH JERRY

    my history teacher woot woot

  • Nice music Jerry! Let me point out he is my history teacher now :) lol, he's a great guy, definitely my favorite teacher.

  • xD here in Italy no history teachers play uillean pipes :( I'd like so much having a piper-teacher... Maybe he would help me learning... :(

  • haha well you're very lucky that you're in italy, i'd prefer to be there then here.

  • To razrvin...hehe... here in Italy there's no democracy and also culture is dying... our president is bringing the nation back to fascism, and deleting culture and good minds.. italian scientists always go in other places to work, here the research is not financed... school is easier and easier, so young people is more and more stupid... and they vote for that criminal, and also environment is being destroyed, we are governed by fools and thieves.. you know, our president is also a pedophile!

  • BlackFolkAndPiano, not much better here in the States if at all. I have been to Italy, at least you have very beautiful towns and cities, our towns and cities are ugly compared to Itally, France, Switz., and many places in Germany. Our president was somehow awarded the Noble Peace Prize- Ha HA HA HA...

  • in the end, I think the situation is a bit better there than here... have you ever heard of a place where the president is the owner of the TV companies?? Or prospected of swindle, 4 or 5 times??

I'd like to run away from Italy... An hot land, full of sun, nature and art :) that's a pity Italy's fuckin off

  • hmm that's a shame, that really sounds like your country is getting a bit messed up. but here it isn't any better... our country is ugh i can't even describe it. it's going down the drain, that's all. it's unfortunate too, i kinda like the environment, but most of the people are ignorant...

  • @BlackFolkAndPiano Conserva i vostri tradizioni. Suona la zampogna. Non si puo controllare gli azioni degli altri pero si puo controllare i suoi azioni. Fai un buon esempio. Meglio di lamentare.

  • @dmarker21 the Zampogna is an awesome instrument, but its price isn't less that a uilleann set... And I really like Irish Music... Anyway I like also Italian folklore, and I wanted to learn to play Piva and Zampogna later... But to learn Uilleann pipes takes much time...And I have to begin quite early.. Anyway I found a teacher ;) but thank you anyway

  • @BlackFolkAndPiano Good luck with the Uilleann pipes and definitely consider learning the zampogna some day. It is a very rewarding instrument to play. By the way, a zampogna cost about 500 euro and a Uilleann pipe cost about $8,000 here in USA, so a Zampogna cost much less. I play zampogna. Check out my documentary preview on my channel. Ciao!

  • Nice sound !

  • Oh such great playing, love it,thanks for the post

  • This music is so fucken awesome and "dance-inspiring" that even his own left leg *HAS* to start jiggling and wiggling. Fucken beautiful! I love it!

  • No need for such strong language.

Generally, the piping community encourages the use of clean and correct grammar. Thanks.

  • I would have to agree with your statement. The barbarians...

  • Oh, barbarian is such a strong roman term...please, don't say such things. It was a word used to describe the Celts because the Romans did not understand the Celtic ways. Please and thank you.

  • @Etonlor333 Barbarus simply is the Roman word for "Beard". One characteristic of most Celt's was the fact they did not shave unlike Romans. But yes, you are correct it developed a negative connotation. Possibly has an even stronger one today than it did back in the day. Most barbarians were simply referred to as "Gauls" by the Romans.

  • @Etonlor333 barbarian is in reference to the people of North Africa (connection to Hannibal), the indigenous people are still called Berber to this day (Amazighen - or free men, in their own language)... the Latin term for the Irish was Scotia, the Romans never really encountered the Scotia, but just mapped the coastline of their island, the Romans fought the Picts.

  • listen to the regulators pumping away while he's flittering up n down the chanter... that''s gorgeous.... bet it took him a good weena years to get that good

  • wot shit r u talkin bout. the lad can curse if he wants to.

  • I am not lying, that is my Western Civ teacher. That is sooooo wierd!!

  • that is called a bag pipe... except for the louder bit, its just the video

  • omg, I want one. ;D . They sound amazing I thinkk, I could listen to this everydayyyyy

  • i want to play the uillean pipes but i need a teacher and a chanter. Can you play bagpipe music on that

  • There needs to be more uilleann pipers out there to balance with the highland pipers. I would like to learn uilleanns soon, but I'm so caught up in highland pipes. An uilleann pipe you blow into and is louder would be interesting...

  • "An uilleann pipe you blow into and is louder would be interesting... "

Wouldn't that be the Highland pipe then????? At least for an ignoramus like me...

  • OK where can I get some of those pipes? What is there starting Price Range? And does anyone know of any Canadian Uileann Pipe teachers.

  • He has a funny way of keeping time.

  • amazing instrument, its my aim to learn these before I die.

  • well done lad,you gots the spirit ,and the talent, let er sing

  • Great tune and great piping. I love it when he plays the regulators!

  • jesus lads ur man sure knows his pipes lioke!!!great stuff,

  • ho lee Mc crud!!

  • Uilleann pipes never fail to put a smile on my face. I'd love to learn how to play, but goodness are they intimidating.

  • heres how you start: David Daye, seriously you may think this guy's pipes are jokes, but they're really the best think you could get, they're relatively cheap and easy to play.

  • I second this. But you will still feel intimidated if you listen to Jerry, his playing is scarily flawless.

  • Talk about making the pipes sing...

  • That flat note really brings a new face to Chief O'niels favourite :). Great regulator-playing, geat sounding set and musician :)

  • First tune is "Chief O'Neil's Favourite"

Anyone know the name of the second hornpipe? I'm guessing it's on one of his albums... *digging though CDs*

  • It is called "The Friendly Visit" and is tune 1696 in O'Neill's.

  • the friendly visit' I think

  • haha thats my history teacher

  • I love that flat note, makes the "favorite" into a new favorite of mine!

  • HAHAHAHA!! that's my teacher

  • good to be irish isnt it?

  • O it is

  • not bad for a yank!! lol. savage playin altogether. great control. if i end up playin half as good as he does i'll be doin well

  • I know the set =D

Can play it too with my band Gan Ainm =p

I gonna play with the Dublinners about a half year.. I don't like the ballads like whiskey in the jar and such.. but the idea, is pretty cool ^^

  • who made his set of uilleann pipes

  • What part of the country is Jerry from? Mighty stuff.

  • New York. USA

  • La classe non è acqua!

  • I saw Jerry in concert once. Awesome piper, he was dripping with sweat by the end of his gig. Great to see the video thanks.

  • This is why Uillean pipes are the safest instrument to play...they have a seatbelt and an airbag!!

  • HAHAHAHA

  • The ringtone of my mobile telephone is just "The Chorus reel" played by Jerry O'Sullivan! So geat!

  • Jerry, you were awesome! We're coming back to see you again at Killington Pipers in August - thanks for a weekend of great entertainment on the hill! Kat and Dana

  • Very Nice Piping...I am myself a Celt...check out my videos...

  • Now I finally understand the what the regulators sound like. I'm kind of new to this whole thing, having just recently developed an obsession with traditional Celtic music.

  • I just stumbled on this guy and very much enjoyed this vid - nice work and thanks....

  • Very good piper! I've been that night in that concert! I highly recomend that convention, and also the Essex pipers convention organized by alan jones, where paddy keenan use to go every year, cheers!
