  • ANYONE WHO KNOWS WALTER, WOULD KNOW HOW MUCH HE HATED NEEDLES, HE NEVER WANTED SHOTS TO HELP WITH THE PAIN OF PLAYING, HE WAS AFRAID OF THEM, I READ IT IN ONE OF HIS BOOKS. HE WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS CHEAT THE GAME HE SO MUCH LOVED! R.I.P. SWEETNESS

  • @fan4life34 Friggin right! Payton was awesome! God love ya Sweetness!

  • rip walter the best runningback ever

  • You're obviously not a fan of Da BEARS if you can't spell the coaches name right!! DITKA!!!

  • Thanks for the respect man. Its shows that you are a colt fan, but walter was the true work horse. And, Walter RIP with my grandpa. I guess he finally met his favorite player.

  • best running back ever.

  • so walter does all this work plays his heart out for 10+ season, and accuse him of steroids? BS

  • i got his autograph on a picture and his book there my prised possesions

    i also have his jersy

  • When i was three my dad, mom and me were at the mall right when it opened and we saw him in his shop. We walked in and my mom asked if he would take a picture with me, i keep that picture with me everywhere.

  • Walter did things on the field that no one else could do... no one. Thats one reason people bring up the steroid thing. Even players on roids couldnt do what he did... His heart was the only "performance enhancer" he needed. Life... in general, needs more people like Walter. Your friends and fans still and always will miss you. R.I.P. Sweetness.

  • I met Walter Payton once when I was 13. I was at a card show the previous week where Emmit Smith was charging over $100 for autographs. A week later I got Walter Payton's autograph for free at the opening of a children's clinic not far from my house. Walter was nothing but class.

  • wow!! forget smith he took too much pride in himself

  • best running back ever

  • da greatist bears of all!!!!

  • the whole bears roster of 06=1 walter payton

  • Rest in peace Walter

    The best running back ever!

    Dr. Rodriguez

  • dude walter payton brought fun into football and this is the year that were going to the playoffs BEARS RULE

  • waltor payton never used steroids and never ran from the truth you fuckin idiot...he was one of the nicest guys you have no clue what your talking about

  • he was the greatest running back in NFL history and brought an intensity to the game that has never before been seen. he play every snap, every game, and played for the entire game. he gave everything he had during every snap and would fight for as many yards as he could get out of a play, he worked for everything that he is today.

  • need a diffrent song

  • Walter is the best all around RB in history. Running the ball, catching the ball, and blocking. And I'm not even a Bears fan.

  • walter was not on steroids

  • Alright (not believable), where's the proof? Any REAL documents? Blood tests? Urine tests? I doubt it because he never did steroids.

  • Payton had bad acne into his 30s and his head was way too small for the size of his body. Everybody knows that Payton abused steroids. Everybody.

  • Hmmm... Ever look at Barry Bonds? He took steroids and his head is huge and so was his body. Payton worked out a lot and had the drive and passion to continue.

  • Payton had a very weir secretive personality according the sportswriters like he was always running from the truth. Payton couldn't even admit to his steroid use as he was dying unlike Lyle Alzado and others who admitted it and tried to warn others.

  • Like I said... Where is the fucking evidence?????

  • Why do people seem to take enjoyment out of creating lies about great people like Walter. Have you nothing better to do? Did you ever see the hill he constantly ran up and down. A few other Bears players came to the hill with him one day and they were throwing up. Mike Ditka said that Payton's workout regiment defied what the U.S. Marine Corps would do. You know what the simple fact is: Payton busted his ass and worked for everything he got. So quit trying to tear the guy down by creating lies.

  • wat do u mean dude?

  • I'm talking about the people on here that are saying that Payton abused steroids. Like XxLonghorns25xX said: Where's the proof?

  • @WithHoldment haha

  • its ditka not ditca duh

  • Ditca should be in jail for calling that play to Perry in the Super Bowl. Come on Walter should have scored from the one over the top. The Fridge come on Ditca?!?

  • Walter was so good that we would have pick up games back in 75 and listen to the radio from our parked cars with our trunks open while we were playing in order to hear how many yards he gained cuz the "so called" Bear fans at the time didnt sell out Soldier Field! If Walter didnt get his 130 plus we were depressed! (Hey I was only 16!) Sweetness was the best ever! Sorry Barry, Eric, Jerome and especially Emit! You didnt run behind that shitty line for all those years! Walter was the best!

  • ok if your going to use shitty line as a reason for being greater than the other running backs you'd have to go with barry, here's my reason, you don't need any reason! just watch the man! walter GREATEST FOOTBALL PLAYER TO EVER LIVE, GOTTA LOVE THAT MAN!

  • No direspect to barry but barry didnt catch passes out of the backfield or block anywhere near as well as walter did. Barry was great but walter was a more complete football player!

  • OH! and did I mention Walter held the NFL rushung record before Emmit "I ran behind one of the greatest offensive lines in the history of the NFL for my entire career" Smith came in to the picture. I respect Barry way more than Emmit...as a running back that is. Emmit was very, very fortunate but not in Walter's or Barry's leauge if you ask me...but i do respect what he did!

  • most complete, most durable rb ever!the game hasn't been quite the same since he retired. i feel that same way about jordan leaving b-ball...crushing blocker, with soft hands and a great influenc in the club house.may not be the best runner.you could argue barry, gale sayers,etc...but you can't argue he was the best "foot-ball player of all-time!!!GOD bless you SWEETNESS.

  • Well, I started watching football in 1983. Walter Payton Ran behind a bad OL, and then he got a great FB to take some pressure off his back. I grew up watching football. Just because i was born in 1980 doesn't mean i never watched Eric and Walter, Bo and Earl all play. I was talking about Eric Dickerson when i was in kind garden to the teachers, lol. Barry ran behind a awful OL. Barry scored 80% of the teams points in his career! Walter has the most heart i have ever seen though.

  • I am showing you respect. Thats why i put in my opinion. If you got the wrong idea, Then I'm sorry. I respect every bodies opinion. Except for the guy who said Barry had a decent OL. Read down there, and u see my argument and how he made no sense, lol

  • Hey, it's all good. Yeah, anybody who says that Barry was running behind good OLs obviously was not watching football during those years. Lots of people also forget that Payton ran behind god-awful offensive lines for the vast majority of his career (til 84). Anybody who watched those mid-70s through early 80s Bears teams knows exactly what I'm talking about. I love both of these guys. They were the very definition of class. They never bragged, just let their actions on the field speak for them.

  • Listen elwood51 and Jazzcat934, A RB is to run the for the team the best you can. People draft RB that can run, catch, block, and throw because that is a complete player, like Terrel Davis and Marshall Faulk. But the main word is

"Running Back" is "Run". Barry Sanders is the most elusive back of all time. Barry Sanders(in my opinion)is the greatest Runner Back of all time while

Walter Payton(In my opinion)is the greatest Athlete of all-time.

  • JosephNYY2 there is no need to get hostile about it. If you feel that a running back's job is only to run then ball, then that's your opinion. I feel that a running back should be able to block and receive as well. Elwood51 happens to feel the same way and I said I agreed with him. I'm not talking down to you or chiding you for having a different opinion, so show me the same respect.

  • How are you going to call someone the greatest running back ever if he doesn't do the whole job? A running backs job is to run, catch, block and occasionally throw. Barry did ONE of those things extremely well. Walter did ALL of those things extremely well. Barry had better moves, no doubt, he juked more guys out of their jocks than anyone, but there's more to the position that that.

  • I totally agree elwood51. Running backs need to run, block and catch. Nobody did it all better than Payton. I love both Payton and Sanders and have the highest respect for both of them, but Walter defined the term 'complete player'. The guy just played with so much heart. He went 100% balls out on every play, even if he wasn't running the ball. If it's one word that describes Payton, it's HEART.

  • I completely agree with "josephNYY2".

    Walter Payton,Bo Jackson,Jim Brown,

    Earl Campbell,Terrel Davis.

They were all great athletes and NFL players.

Barry Sanders was the greatest Runner Back though. Barry Sanders was a better sprint runner and juker. So like JosephNYY2 said, Walter Payton was a better athlete, he was a more well rounded player, but not Runner Back.

I see were you both are coming from. But AtheonGisen, I seen them both play, and I am 33. And believe me, Barry Sanders OL was bad!!

  • So if Barry ran the ball, and had a season with a NFL high 14 100+ yard games and a 2053 yard season. And almost beet Walters record in only 10 seasons, than that makes him a great RB. So Barry Sanders wasn't a better athlete than Payton, but was a better RB than anybody i have ever seen from the past and know. What i just mention was some facts and opinions. Are you to stupid to see that? Barry was drafted to run, not block and catch or throw, but run! And he ran! No disrespect to Walter Payton

  • Now tell me AtheonGisen, how is that a decent OL? Besides, When i say who is better than who, its a opinion. My opinion is my opinion, so who are you to judge? So i admire Walter Payton, and i know he is very good, but I'm not hear to argue with you. Hears something that you should actually understand! A RB job is to run, a OL job is to block, WR job is to catch, and a QB job is to Throw. So Walter was good at Blocking and Catching and Running, so that makes him a great athlete. Barry ran great

  • So tell me, how is a decent OL letting a top 5 greatest HB lose 12 yards? So was Barry Sanders OL decent? Rhetorical question! Answer is no! A OL that allows one of the best RB ever to lose 1000 yards a season is decent dumbass! And yeah, he had one good QB out of 4, and two decent WR. But they were decent because the OL was one of the worst ever. So soon as the snap, the QB was tossing the ball to Barry because he had no time to throw, and Barry worked magic the best he could! Decent OL???????

  • Comment removed

  • AtheonGisan, you aren't very smart at all, or maybe your just a blind retard. Are you? Barry Sanders lost 12 yards, people know that, but made up for it with a 45 yard TD run also. And Barry Sanders had a decent OL! Thats why i seriously think you have something wrong in the head and is blind. His OL was always being pushed around. So maybe you are stupid. A decent OL wouldn't let the D take Barry Sanders for a 12 yard lose because they would be "Decent". Your not a good OL if you allow that!!!

  • walter is far better than barry. Barry was great at stopping on the dime and accelerating this caused people to miss. Walter was more elusive even in traffic or while being tackled. Walter could carry defenders to the goal line. However no dis on Barry, I take walter bcause he could do it all and he was that extra receiver or blocker or tackler. He also played special teams on both sides of the ball.

  • I agree. Walter was a better trucker,Catcher, and even thrower! But running, being untouchable, unstoppable, A highlight jet, an ankle breaker, a knee twister, A man who can embarrass you twice in one play and make you hope nobody seen what happen, a man who juked, jumped, spun, run, and even danced 10 yards back behind the line, and lots of times still brought it back for a touch down!! that all goes to "Sandman" Barry Sanders. Walter Payton was a good athlete, Barry Sanders was a great Runner Back.

  • Based on the way you butcher the english language, I wouldn't say you are too smart. Barry actually had a decent offensive line, and a good quarterback and receiver to take pressure off the run game. As a Rams fan who thinks Faulk is better than Dickerson, I'm sure you didn't see Dickerson OR Payton play a full game in the 80's, making any point you make for Barry over Walter moot. What makes a "Greater Runner Back" (lol) is the ability to catch the ball, and block, which Barry COULD NOT DO.

  • id say it was payton VS brown for the best ever. i think its a tie between those 2.

what is the name of the song

  • Ya, but they did a-lot more than Barry Sanders line! Barry Sanders line was always on the floor! Walter Payton isn't even better than Jim Brown! If Barry Sanders had a OL, he would have easily broke Walter Payton record in his 6th year! If Walter Payton had a OL his whole career he would have had atleast 20,000 yards and 15 TD's a year! And Barry Sanders would have beet that too! If Barry Sanders had a OL for 3 years, he would have had 2,500 yards and 20TD's! Barry skills are better! Hands-Down!

  • Walter payton never had a line either. The bears were horrible until 1984. They were good for about 4 years. He did it w/o a good O line too. You dont know how many yards barry would have had but nice guess. Barry is great no doubt, had he stuck around he probably would have put the record out of reach for emmit if he stayed healthy. Walter was a better all around football player than barry or Jim Brown.

  • That doesn't matter. How many times have i seen him get a 50 yard break on the D,i cant even count anymore. He ran behind a dummy line, so no shit he will get a lost at times, but for someone who ran behind a bunch of cardboard cut outs, and almost broke Paytons record in 10 years, and had 99 TD's,Thats incredible. Go watch a Payton video, then a Barry, then you will see that obviously Sanders is better. he is the only player that can embarress you twice on a play, and make you wish nobody seen it!

  • your a dummy as well... go watch paytons highlights there will be guys standing around on his team watching him do his work to score, not even trying to block...payton is better then sanders because payton is the best all around running back/player ever...he could do everything...you dont see barry throwing the ball blocking or catching that well...dont get me wrong barry was a great back but payton was better..

  • i wear the # 45 tribute to walter payton. berry sanders played for oklahoma st ive watch him play when i was lil. too me payton is the greatest. berry sanders run left to right some times didnt help the loins so many times ive seen berry get tackled for a loss. walter payton was all around back juke DLs and LBs run over DBs.

    RIP SWEETENSS

  • Just because you watched him play, doesn't mean he's the geatest ever. I was born on January 25th,1979. I watched him play when i was little, and i seen Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders play. Barry Sanders in my opinion is the greatest to have ever play the position. In your opinion, its Walter Payton. In my Fathers its Walter and Jim. Does that meen they are the best, no, but they are all one of the best. There will always be a argument on whos the best. Barry Sanders forever!

  • For those who didn't know, Walter Payton died from Liver Cancer in 1999. He just turned 45 when he past on. Show some damn respect, and stop saying he used stariods! He didn't need stariods to run you over! He was,is, and always will be a warrior in my eyes. there was always something about him i loved watching. I think Walter Payton and Barry Sanders are both great, so it doesn't matter to me who's the best!

  • By the way, Walter turned down an offer to move to the front of the line for a liver transplant.

  • walter payton i believe will be the best ever because u see the RB's now and yea..they're great...but not payton great, the guy didnt know how to fall down, and he fuckin took the hits and hit you back like a tank, he was a great RB, catcher, and blocker..he was the total package...sanders just had speed and jukeness but great nonetheless

  • you are the biggest douschebag i hope you have a grabber right now fuckstain

  • Go fuck yourself JoeWeinbender. Sweetness was the best ever. How DARE you talk shit about him after he is dead and gone. What a classless piece of shit you are! FUCKTARD!

  • joeweinbender fuck u walter was the greatest u fuckin redneck white bread piss ant chicken shit mother fucker go burn in hell u fuckin butt pirate fuckin no balls prick motherfucker

  • Are you f'n kidding me weinersucker? Cancer from steroids? Do you even have a f'n clue WTF you are talking about????? CANCER from steroids????????? You have no F'n clue Hindpounder.

  • You're so full of shit your eyes are brown!

  • I have been a Viking fan since '73. Walter Payton is the greatest running back to ever play the game. I watched him torch us for 275 yards in November of '77. We knew he was getting the ball and couldn't stop him. We had a great defense that year. Walter destroyed us.

  • walter payton is better than barry sanders

  • oh hell yeh. everyone makes barry sanders seem like the god of all running backs. walter payton was the greatest without a doubt

  • People that think Barry is better, like highlights. They should watch the 12 yard losses, and the no existent blocks Barry displayed. Also I've heard teenagers make comments on how they think Barry is better. HAVE YOU EVEN SEEN A GAME WALTER PLAYED???

  • walter payton rueles he is my favorite player ever in the nfl he is awsome but the video is only picturs but its good beacuse walter payton is in it if he didnt get liver disease he mihgt still be alive right now to this day.

  • Awesome video its just pictures but walter payton is the best running back in the NFL ever and you cant disrespect the integrity if a man of his level

  • ok it was liver diese the hospilt offered to move him up on the transplat list but he refused because to him tht ment that some1 less famous would have to get moved down. ok i had to write and esay on him i would no

  • WORST FUCKIN vid ever about walter payton just fuckin pictures....

  • u guys are dumb...it was bothit was a liver disease...so he was gonna get a new one then he got cancer on top of that so he couldnt get a new liver

  • i got it on with your Gf..

  • the hospital offered to move him up on the liver transplant list because of his popularity he refused to do this cancer did kill though your right . he put everyones elses needs before his own need for a new liver it just shows the kind of a man he was

  • It was Liver disease

  • cancer

  • WE LOVE YOU SWEETNESS

  • Walter was an awsome addition to the chicago and plus he helped the bears win the 85 super bowl. There is no one in NFL history that is as hard-working and athletic as walter

  • This was a man who refused to move up the liver donor list because it would mean that someone else would have to die because of it. What a great person and one hell of a football player.

  • I didn't know that is that true? A true Samarai on and off the field...ppl don't have that kind of honor these days, at least not here in L.A. man that makes me sad to know that... but what honor...much respect.

  • Walter trained hardl he could bench 400 and trained like an animal. Never complained. Was a joy to watch. Nice Video, thanks for posting!

  • Payton was the best. A wonderful human being. Will be missed.

  • Wats the name of this song
