This is a great song. You always hear Candy-O, but they always leave this out. Thanks for all the information posters have written about this song and other Rik Occasik songs.
This song was influenced by a New York band called Suicide. They were just two guys, singer Alan Vega and keyboardist Martin Rev. They played music that was dramatic, eerie and confrontational. Ric Ocasek was clearly influenced by this band and later produced their second album in 1980.
Sorry but I had this album BACK then ! This is pause song or lead in for the following song. That or the song it leads to you'll have to figure out for yourself , if you can . Thanks for post Slance.
I guess it's Cadian, but couldn't get dictionary meaning. But found out lyrics of song it is Cadian, and when Googled "Cadia" came up as a " terrestrial Fortress World on the edge of nebula known as the Eye of Terror.
Dude, thanx for uploading all the Car videos. BUT...you can NOT separate Shoo Be Doo from Candy-O, as previously stated. You have committed an egregious error. For shame!
Candy-O, I need you so! This is one of my favorite albums from the 70's. I just ordered it on Amazon. Can't wait until I get it. Great, great album. One of my all-time favorites! I can't find a fault with it. Their intro album had some great tunes but this one seems better thought out, no?
This song was clearly influenced by Suicide, a synthesizer duo from New York City that played music that was repititious and scary. Check out "Frankie Teardrop" and see if THAT doesn't scare the ectoplasm out of you.
The band certainly thought so, when I met them on the promo tour for this record. They all did a double take. When I bought the album a few minutes later, I understood why. Everything but the cup size.
I remember playing this song for my brother the first time. His eyes lit up at the end of the song. I later found out that this sound was influenced by Suicide, that fantastic New York duo that made angry, synthed-up music (they're still around!). I tried to get my brother to like Suicide, too. But after listening to "Frankie Teardrop", he wanted nothing to do with them.
@Slance1 Please upload the entire side one sequence Double Life/Shoo Be Doo/Candy-O as one track please as they run together on the album. We'd really enjoy this. Thank you so much for uploading what you have.
Was there a song with intelligible words in it?

You run around in your Cadmium Car? Maybe the most eccentric track they did.

@kondo337 I thought it said 'caddy and car' but just now I saw the live on Fridays
with gimmee some slack, and he clearly says "daddy's car'! Who knew???
So "You ride around in your daddy's car, you keep wishin' on a star."

No, I think hello again is there worst. The song is so boring, so cheesy, so not The Cars. The Cars were quirky, not cheesy.

@ricocasekfan Simply that this song reminds me of the chaotic state of my own mind when I was a teenager.
