  • nu wave.... i was 18....LOL

  • LOVE IT-Shoo Be Doo

  • This is a great song. You always hear Candy-O, but they always leave this out. Thanks for all the information posters have written about this song and other Rik Occasik songs.

  • THE best Cars song ever. And they do have many other very good songs.

And btw: Yes porbably influenced by Martin Rev and Alan Vega aka "Suicide"

  • i like the cover:)

  • Awesome! I wish it was 1979 again! ( :

  • One of the best "rock opera's" ever.

  • This song was influenced by a New York band called Suicide. They were just two guys, singer Alan Vega and keyboardist Martin Rev. They played music that was dramatic, eerie and confrontational. Ric Ocasek was clearly influenced by this band and later produced their second album in 1980.

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1

Yeah, I can definitely hear ghost rider in this. I always dug suicide.

  • 1:36 .... amazing.

  • sounds like TRON

  • This sounds like the Goth kids music on South Park! I love The Cars.

  • @spiralpitfall "No, no, no no nooo, I will not go to the taalents shooow, no no no no nooo"

  • hey 'pop culture' is it dark ?

  • Sorry but I had this album BACK then ! This is pause song or lead in for the following song. That or the song it leads to you'll have to figure out for yourself , if you can . Thanks for post Slance.

  • BEST SONG FROM THIS ALBUM!!! THE REST OF THEM SUCKED!!!

  • @PopCulture20 candy o was great

  • @sarabower1 It wasn't as good as the previous debut album. Now that was a masterpiece.

  • lol charliegator89, yeah... true stuff.

  • I guess it's Cadian, but couldn't get dictionary meaning. But found out lyrics of song it is Cadian, and when Googled "Cadia" came up as a " terrestrial Fortress World on the edge of nebula known as the Eye of Terror.

  • @kondo337

    it's a cadillac

  • I guess it's Cadian, but couldn't get dictionary meaning.Oh Well, like Cadmium

  • You run around in your Cadmium Car? Maybe the most eccentric track they did.

  • @kondo337 I thought it said 'caddy and car' but just now I saw the live on Fridays

with gimmee some slack, and he clearly says "daddy's car'! Who knew???

So "You ride around in your daddy's car, you keep wishin' on a star."

  • @jamaral81

No, I think hello again is there worst. The song is so boring, so cheesy, so not The Cars. The Cars were quirky, not cheesy.

  • Dude, thanx for uploading all the Car videos. BUT...you can NOT separate Shoo Be Doo from Candy-O, as previously stated. You have committed an egregious error. For shame!

  • This song is the inside of a teenage boys mind.

  • @Cabiotube What do you mean by that?

  • @ricocasekfan Simply that this song reminds me of the chaotic state of my own mind when I was a teenager.

  • I hear if you play a certain part of the song backwards you can hear "Satan" being said over and over again

  • such an unusual song

  • This 1 was influenced by suicide/alan Vega.

  • There are 54 Original hitchhikers out there lovin The Cars. love the trippy with the poppy

  • this needs to go with candy-o

  • Greg Hawkes is one of the best synth players ever.

  • i concoure

  • Shoo Be Doo...Scooby Doo? A link?

  • OMG! Reminds me of growing up in Colorado! Love it!! Thanks!

  • WOW. Flash Back

  • one of my fav's of there's ..your a wizard

  • I drive around in my cadium car..... keep wishin on a star.....why is it you don't care.....

  • Candy-O, I need you so! This is one of my favorite albums from the 70's. I just ordered it on Amazon. Can't wait until I get it. Great, great album. One of my all-time favorites! I can't find a fault with it. Their intro album had some great tunes but this one seems better thought out, no?

  • a rare perfect album from start to finish 10/10 from the day i bought it its always been in my car from tape to mp3 m48

  • Takes me back in time...............I LOVe it!

  • This song was clearly influenced by Suicide, a synthesizer duo from New York City that played music that was repititious and scary. Check out "Frankie Teardrop" and see if THAT doesn't scare the ectoplasm out of you.

  • And this leads into.....

  • i remember this one...strange song.

  • I look like the model for this cover, so I am sick and tired of hearing the cracks about it!

  • you know what, you look alot like the model from candy-o

  • The band certainly thought so, when I met them on the promo tour for this record. They all did a double take. When I bought the album a few minutes later, I understood why. Everything but the cup size.

  • trance back in 79'

  • I was 14, I smoked a dooby, I turned on Candy O, and nothing was the same...........

  • Ditto!

  • @charliegator89 I remember you. You kept "bogarting" in the corner saying "Someone play 'Moving in Stereo'!"

  • @charliegator89 Haha Classy.

  • @charliegator89 Classic story, thats why its in the highest rated comments, get it "highest ratings". Awesome.

  • @charliegator89 SICK......VERY SAME!! lol

  • AWESOME! oh the memories!

  • I remember playing this song for my brother the first time. His eyes lit up at the end of the song. I later found out that this sound was influenced by Suicide, that fantastic New York duo that made angry, synthed-up music (they're still around!). I tried to get my brother to like Suicide, too. But after listening to "Frankie Teardrop", he wanted nothing to do with them.

  • CARS CLASSIC !

  • Don't you go, don't you go making eyes at me!!!

  • shoo be doo blows away candy-o.... or at least say Candy-o is NOTHING without the shoo be doo entrance!

  • Sorry... I'll re-upload.

  • Yeah..... shoo be doo and Candy-O do belong together........

  • Well yeah, it has GREAT sound.

It's just one of those songs that always sounds somewhat incomplete without the "second half" of it...Candy-O.

  • Breaking up Shoo Be Doo and Candy-O is insane!!!

You definitely need to see a Therapist.

    >:-þ

  • This does have sound

  • @Slance1 I agree, madness. But still, Slance1, thanks for posting!

  • @Slance1 Please upload the entire side one sequence Double Life/Shoo Be Doo/Candy-O as one track please as they run together on the album. We'd really enjoy this. Thank you so much for uploading what you have.

  • @BrimHawk I agree, madness. But still, Slance1, thank you for posting!

  • @BrimHawk

    AMEN BROTHER!!!!!
