  • Wizz, I found my answer. The first Pups were built with the tailplane shown on this model, as were the first Tripehounds. But in very early 1917 the tailplane was changed to the configuration I am talking about. It gave the Tripe and the pup better handling with the smaller width of 8'.

Go on the web and look for Belair laser cutting (UK) they can get you the Mike Booth plans, honestly there are not any better than these , this is a Top Gun winning plan

  • Thanks for the info on the website Wizz, but my question is still unanswered. If you take the outline of the horizontal stab and elevator together, they are backward from what the "Pup" was built. The Sopwith Triplane had Pup fuse and tail.

My question is, why was this plane built with the stab and elevator reversed?

  • Nice looking SopTri. I'm scratching out a 1/4 scale version right now myself. I have a question though....I noticed the horizonal stab and elevator look like they are on backward. This is just from looking at the outline of the two. I now the first triplanes had the Sopwith Pup fuse and tailplane. Have you seen drawings with the tail outline you have on yours?

  • way to go! a little rat-tat-tat and some 20's tunes would really set it off to the movies... "Flyboy's" you might have to move over for this one!
