I try to explain why I don't like this movie:Well,Oldman is a wonderful actor,he's brilliant in this like in most of his roles. I don't criticize Ford's work either...but the whole screenplay is a patriotic propaganda piece...the russian "terrorist" is the bad guy who kills without remorse and gets killed himself in the end.And the wonderful US President risks his life for 50 people and saves them all without being hurt seriously.This is like fantasy,this is not real and I'm not anti-american!

Im talking first and second world war. Russians lost 26 million people fighting Germany in the second war alone. That was almost half of the total worldwide casualties in ww2. On a separate note, the Russians made the ak-47. a weapon that causes around 250,000 deaths a year... lawyered.

I don't know if it's too late, if you figured it out already...but after much searching, I finally figured out the name of that song the prisoners sing. It's an infamous socialist, communist, social-democratic and anarchist anthem named "L'Internationale". It's very catchy.

Gary oldman is a great actor in this movie and he played a good roll of a patriot fighting for his nation and trying to free his leader. That is very respectable. On another subject, in my opinion the reason that he kissed the girl was because he respected how she showed no fear and had a lot of courage to tell him what she thought about him even though he could have kill her.
