I dunno....even though it isn't the prettiest of things, somehow I could still see Sean Connery or maybe even Roger Moore driving it in a Bond Movie. I could see the movie title now, "The car is not enough, die another day."
280zx was my first car, the fold down seats and extra room was awesome especially with road trips and friends and i miss that about it, but the 240 is just classic and is a great car with more power since mine is pre 1973 it has no emission control to adhere to so alot more customization is possible and its something that you can work on yourself.
there is no accounting for taste , obviously . But seriously , i have seen a good zed once , just rip out the engine and all the running gear and replace it with a v-8 and some serious stuff , you've got yourself a decent (if soft looking) car
So THATS where they got the idea for the Ford Pinto! I am an admirer of many vintage European cars, but this thing actually attempts elegance and instead achieves fugly. Its very confused. Looks like they took design cues from 1960's Fords (think Thunderbird) as well as Japanese (Toyota 2000GT, Mazda Cosmo) and perhaps even an Italian sports cars or two of the day. Interesting but it was definitely a good call to stay production.
@TwoOpposableThumbsUp Allegedly ony three were ever made. The story goes that they were going into production, but the beancounters canned it at the last minute
@NicholasJBrown Absolutely no relation. For a start, this is the work of Holden, the Australian wing of GM. They also built the Pontiac G8 and late GTO, and you'll see Chevy Caprices in America soon as police cruisers. They're really rebadged Holden Caprices

Sad to see a bunch of ricer gook packers bagging this car.
Its every bit as good looking as the Datsun.
And wasnt built by a Japanese company. instantly lames it better.
Not that the 240Z was a Japanese design anyway, A German designed it

id still buy a zed... afer all the 186 with tripple su's would be a pain to tune and 186's dont like high revs (more than 202's)
even the most rooted of L series 6's will rev to 8 grand . even with mega cam lash!

definitely go with the Z, all the way. The green car kinda sorta favors the old school skyline as well, any relation there?
torquexlt 3 years ago 2
No relation to the skyline. The green car ultimately developed into a v8 touring car monster.

Nice looking car. I've got a sales brochure for the GTR-X . . . . I'm guessing its probably rare seeing they never sold the car.

It was the new concept car Torana that never went into production. I think it was called the Torana GTX coupe.
