@11000corvette It's not fair? It's a 4 cylinder focus producing around 110-151hp and 125-154tq, depending on the model. That's a 97-04 Corvette 345-350hp and about 365tq. It doesn't matter if that ford focus is made from the future, it should of never been that close of a race. The drive in the Corvette either couldn't drive or went slow on purprose, or the Focus is secretly modified to 500hp. It wasn't fair on the Focuses side, and it still did decently.
@davdruan 171hp is still nothing for any car. I've seen SVT focuses in person and it's an insult to Ford's Special Vehicle Team. It still doesn't need to be compared to racing a Corvette.
@DarkZombieZ88 uhh actually an SVT focus is a marvel of engineering, instead of slapping a turbo on a normal focus and calling it a new vehicle like mitsubishi likes to do they left it natural and beefed up the engine and worked on tuning and suspension and came with a better handling and slightly faster car that can keep up with evo's at a track day.
@davdruan It's not nearly close to anything I would call an marvel of engineering. They do 15s in the quarter mile from the factory. No matter what a car manufacturer does to a FWD four cylinder, it will never be a marvel. The pinnacle of automotive engineering would be nothing short of a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Corvette, or a Viper. Not a Focus. Keeping up with a Evo on a track day is something easily done. Still not impressive.

@davdruan I've been around those "super machines" my entire life and know plenty of people who use those cars as a daily driver and abuses the hell out of them at the same time. When we talk about racing cars, price doesn't matter. It's a car Ford tried to make as a cheap wannabe sports cars for kids to feel special in. Just like the Eclipse GT, RSX, and etc. There not bad cars, just nothing special. You have a lot to learn.

My father had a Corvette as a daily drive that I went to school in and got groceries in. Most people can't afford a Ferrari so they automatically assume they can't be daily drivers to the people who can afford them. They have decent trunk room in most exotics, enough for every day life.

@penguinsaurus My family owns a 2007 Focus ST and a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. We usually go with fairly cheap cars and get as many factory add ons as we can. This keeps people from thinking we get paid too much while giving us some hidden luxuries on the inside. Corvettes aren't designed to be practical, they are designed to be fast. All of the practicality they come with are just added bonuses in my opinion. I think it would be great fun owning a Corvette.

Some can be daily drivers and some cant-this all depends on the owner-not the car. My 74 Stingray had 160k miles before I donated it. My 90 had 179k miles before I sold her and well...my 03 is at where its at but at the end of the day-you gotta own one to know one.

Actually its 6.9 liters and 640+ horsepower stock. And since thats an older model im guessing he payed around 50gs. Yes, thats alot, but its quality american muscle, with more style and performance in its stock conditon, than that piece of shit focus would ever dream about.maybe you want to waste your time on a ford focus, but the time and money he spent on that could be used to restore a classic or make that vette really fly.
@blackknights94 this would be a 5.7L LS1 car i believe...and 50k is alot for a car any way you look at it. Also, a turbo focus on low boost with stock internals would be as fast as this corvette. For not much more you can forge the focus and run around 15-20lbs. of boost and really destroy this corvette. For WAYWAYWAY less than 10k probably a little less than half of that. I do it to 240sx with rb20 swap and rb25 and rb26 swaps's all the time

@penguinsaurus My family owns a 2007 Focus ST and a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. We usually go with fairly cheap cars and get as many factory add ons as we can. This keeps people from thinking we get paid too much while giving us some hidden luxuries on the inside. Corvettes aren't designed to be practical, they are designed to be fast. All of the practicality they come with are just added bonuses in my opinion. I think it would be great fun owning a Corvette.

@dsmdeegen I have an 03 Z06 with a England Green Cam kit pushing 440hp to the wheels. Its not a daily driver because I have other things to drive-but I do drive it-as a matter of fact she should be pushing 100k miles within the week.
Some can be daily drivers and some cant-this all depends on the owner-not the car. My 74 Stingray had 160k miles before I donated it. My 90 had 179k miles before I sold her and well...my 03 is at where its at but at the end of the day-you gotta own one to know one.

That being said, the reason I got into this debate was because of the complete lack of respect the muscle car freaks give to any automobile that doesn't run a V8.

Yes, thats alot, but its quality american muscle, with more style and performance in its stock conditon, than that piece of shit focus would ever dream about.maybe you want to waste your time on a ford focus, but the time and money he spent on that could be used to restore a classic or make that vette really fly.

@blackknights94 this would be a 5.7L LS1 car i believe...and 50k is alot for a car any way you look at it. Also, a turbo focus on low boost with stock internals would be as fast as this corvette. For not much more you can forge the focus and run around 15-20lbs. of boost and really destroy this corvette. For WAYWAYWAY less than 10k probably a little less than half of that. I do it to 240sx with rb20 swap and rb25 and rb26 swaps's all the time
