I run a ex60-3. It's the best machine for these jobs. They're cheap to run. cheap to fix
( although they are nearly bulletproof ) and they have room for tools in a proper toolbox, room in the cab for winter coat and your lunch bucket. Having spent time in one of the new zero tailswing machines is an early taste of what Hell must be like.
When manufacturers got rid of the counterweight, they screwed the pooch.
Have the technical schools of Canada ever asked your permission to use your videos in their classrooms? These are great tools to instruct young students if they intend to follow in your footsteps. Thanks for sharing.
No. None have. But to my knowledge, permission is not needed to use videos that are on YouTube. However, one instructor from a school in the States told me that they do use some of my videos at his school. I don't know which ones though.
The perspective was terrific. We just bought a Kubota BX series and realize we now need an excavator to clear a space on our 20 acres for a tennis court. Ugh. Think we should just hire someone. Then I got caught up in your story about how you went to Korea long ago. See how Youtube can eat an hour with no effort? I love kimchi too. And dol sot bi bim bap even if I can't say it. My partner's Mom won't cook that though!
nice video, sure like the idea of the thumb, do must my work in a js130 just need to convince my dad to get a thumb fitted haha.
random question but we run machine from 1 ton upto 13 and all the machines below 13 have blades on them. wondered why none of the bigger machines have a dozer blade. just one of those questions that bugs me. like when does a boat become a ship haha.
Yeah, it bugs me too. But I think you can get a dozer blade on machine up to about 20 tons now. I guess the manufacturers are reluctant to do things like that until they get a lot of feedback from customers indicating that the machines will actually sell if they put blades on them. Just my two bits.
...regarding the camera, check out one of my other videos called 'do it yourself headcam', also on this channel. I mounted a Sony Cybershot on my hard hat, so I could show people how things look from the operators perspective, rather than a mounted camera. The video has a more natural feel to it when the camera follows where the operator is looking, in my humble opinion.
1. Nautical. a. A relatively small, usually open craft of a size that might be carried aboard a ship. b. An inland vessel of any size. c. A ship or submarine.

1. Nautical. a. A vessel of considerable size for deep-water navigation. b. A sailing vessel having three or more square-rigged masts.
But she wont leave bc so i was wondering if maybe u happen to know any companies around vancouver that would hire someone with only loader experience. If u could help me out that would be great.
You *might* be able to get on with Pedre Contractors, where I used to work. Might take a while to get on a hoe, though. A lot of the time they will get you to do a LOT of labor before they will give you a chance to get on other equipment. Just an option - I know that there are a lot of companies in greater Vancouver that are looking for operators, and probably a lot of them would be willing to take a loader operator to train on a hoe. Only one way to find out.
hey i love your videos. I got a question for you Ive been wnating to learn how to run hoe for the last 5 years ive been running loader for 2 years now but i wanan learn more machines.I was trying to convince my girlfreind to move to alberta wiht me .
i am sure you have bigger hoe's btw i first ran one of them small takeuchi backhoe;s in 1982 fun ass hell .. compared to the 245 i was running at the time .
i'm running a little one right now,550 hitachi,i usually run the bigger ones,1100 ,1200 series. I can park my car in the bucket of the 550,3 buckets and i load a 40 ton rock truck, overload it,more like 60 - 70 ton. With the 1200 i can load two rock trucks at once if they park side by side.
I envy you, big bro! Wouldn't mind trying my hand at one of them. The biggest machine that I run on a DAILY basis is a Hitachi ZX 330. At my last job it was a John Deere 450; but still just babies compared with the ones you run!
replace the (dot) with a period and link will work
The John Deere behind me is a 750 and makes the 550 look small. My car doesn't go through rock truck ruts so i'll have to wait until i walk the machine out to where we park our vehicles. You want my job you can have it,i been doing this almost 30 years and sick of it,little big i run them all and tired of it.Only thing is it's hard to walk away from the money i make.
I really enjoyed your video! Well done, and shows the beauty of using equipment versus doing it by hand.I wonder if you know of any p.c. software that would allow me to be a "virtual" heavy equipment operator?
Not really, but there is the 'Kensetsu Kikai Simulator Kenki Ippai! - Intro' video here on YouTube. Here's the link to it. I don't know where and if it is available to buy. If you find out, let me know.
youtube(dot)com/watch?v=t1FzEQuO20Y You'll have to fill in the 'w's.
Cool! Just checked it out. This looks like a good thing for getting some of the more interesting YouTube videos that YouTube keeps deleting, before they get deleted!
Yes. Admittedly, it is a bit boring. But if you're into that sort of thing, then maybe it's not as boring. I find it boring, and I made the vid. Surprises me that so many people have watched it.
Tonka toys. Yeah, you missed out, I guess. It's either something that grabs you, or else it's one of those "What's the big deal - this is so boring!" kind of things.
Yeah, for me it goes back to when I was five years old, and my father used an old cat (Oliver Cleattrack) for clearing land, and I would ride on the engine cover, thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. I was bitten by the 'Big Machine Bug' back then.
It's the smaller machines like this that take a bit more skill to operate. I've operated all sizes, it's more fun to operate the big ones though! Do you notice lorry drivers never stop when you beep the horn. Nice video!
It's too bad that the camera adds so much shakiness. I tried some image stabilization software that worked well, except that it leaves a huge logo in the middle of the screen, but I'm not ready to part with the money to buy it yet so I can use it without the big logo.
As an operator, generally I am pretty smooth. You'd never know it from the video footage though.
what i wonder about is how you in canada/america over there mix the flammable debris like wood, plastics e.g. together with the minerally. you should attend demolition work in germany, world champion in sorting debris ;-)
one proposal i have for your videos: why don't you briefly introduce your machine with one pic and indicate power and weight?
and sorry, i can't assist your video shoot with the garbage truck...distances are just too big...
I suppose that I could do that, or maybe at the end. I'll give it some thought, and thanks for the idea. Maybe I'll bring the garbage truck over to germany, and we can shoot the vid there! ;-)
very nice size machine

It must be a pain in the butt to look through that cab shield all day. Does it hurt your eyes to see that steel vibrate all day?
