Care to explain why making a cat believe that its body is gently touching an obstacle is animal abuse? I found it interesting to learn (and an intriguing sight) that cats use their fur (not only their whiskers) as sensors that help them navigate their bodies. This suggests that they're reacting to something touching their fur all the time, so I don't think that the tape could cause an unusual sensation or discomfort (and the cats didn't seem to be stressed at all).

With this fact in mind, If two separate cats are dropped, then the result should be the same. Both cats will always land on thier feet according to this law.

My conclusion is that the tape behaves as an invisible force to felines. The tapes somehow acts as a propulsion device that pushes the cat in the direction of the sticky side of the tape. My hypothesis for future experiments are putting tape on both sides of feline will create an equilibrium and putting enough tape on the feet will actually make the feline hover. @JBersheim well, to clarify.. the cells involved would act as receptors to detect the adhesive tape or effectors to produce the observed response (ie. the recoil from the adhesive tape). it'd be no use isolating just the receptor cell if it by itself is unable to produce the response that we wish to study. we need all tissues involved in the reaction (if there is only one type of cell involved, then we will be lucky and the whole thing will pull together more quickly)
