Aaaa, Cobh. First stop on the itinerary of our tour of Ireland that started July 17 and ended too soon. What a beautiful town and what friendly people the Irish are. Hopefully we will return in 2013 to relive the magic of this hauntingly beautiful place.
@PeteLinUni I'm in full agrement with you there. I spent 10 weeks working in Cobh back in 2001 (was there at 9/11 will never forget that). It's a brilliant town, we were working for a Dutch companny VanOrd on an off shore pipeline. It's the most enjoyable job I ever worked on, so much so it was like being on holiday. The place is steeped in maritime history, last port of call of the Titanic and the Lusitainia was torpedoed near by.
Sounds like you've just described Hastings in England. When we were there in early August we were appalled by the level of neglect. And some of the locals warned it will only get worse when some expected cutbacks are soon implemented. Shame!!!
By the way your channel contains some anti-Irish/anti-Cork contributions, especially from your friend who calls himself "NationalistProd" (a popular name amongst far right and BNP supporters)
The Cork people are far from hostile to outsiders as you claim above. No point debating this since their reputation alone confirms it. However you on the other hand display hostility in your channel and your use of language.
@thedebtsettler you should grow the fuck up ive lived in cobh all my life and for a small town like it is with alot of local businesses its not as bad as you put it, the people here are not hostile and we do our best to keep out town in good conditions, and im being hostile right now for the fact you are judging the place i love, and the fact your english makes it the stereotypical view of ireland in general! there is NOT dog shit everywhere and i havent seen any hostility to "outsiders"
@thedebtsettler there is a french market and farmers market once a week that is very welcoming to those that come off of the many cruise liners that come into our town and are all very inviting, get over yourself!!!!!!!
Why are all the shops closed and the parks, streets deserted? Guess it was early morning or weekend when you took the video? Looks quite a pretty town to me :)
I loved Cobh too when I visited nearly 2 years ago. It seemed to have everything I like about a place and I loved the atmosphere of the place.
I have been thinking long and hard about maybe living there. So during the Christmas holidays I finally decided that yes this is the place where I would most like to live and run my web business.
Now I am packing and looking for a house to rent and I hope I will make good friends for life there.
iam american and i decend from ireland al the way back from this town my last name is cobb ,they changed it from cobh to cobb to match the american vocabulary, this is my fist look off where my real family is living, god bless, i wish i could come home :I
hey im from cobh just lettin you know its actually pronounced cove the bh in irish makes a 'v' sound just letting you know because if you say cob in cobh you might get a few evil eyes haha

Cobh is pretty...but FILTHY.
Don't imagine that it is like any of the pretty seaside towns in England...its NOT.
There is dog shit everywhere, the buildings are all filthy, and the people are hostile to outsiders.

The expected reply as you're English, LOL

Be nice. Move on!

@helenaZZZZirlandaise ...funny.
You try to claim the moral high-ground but fail.
I'm just an English guy, nothing far right or far left about me.
My great-grandmother was Irish and I enjoy all cultures.
But I speak as I find and give no quarter to poltically correct nonesense.
Cobh IS dirty and hostile.
Statement of fact.
Now YOU be grown-up...and move on sweetie.
