@lilsis I'm an animation major. The major here is pretty general, ranging from 2D animation, to a variety of different aspects of 3D animation/modeling/etc, to experimental animation, to interactive stuff, etc. For UMBC's animation major, you can pick one of two concentrations: animation, or interactive media. I chose animation, but you kind of learn a bit of both either way.
@lilsis If you want to try out a broad spectrum of types of animation, then taking an animation major here could be a good choice. Plus, the tuition price is pretty decent. However, if you already know what you want to do and it's something specific, the major here might not go as in-depth as you'd like, and either way, you'll probably have to learn and create a bit of stuff on your own to put in your portfolio and get in the industry afterwards.
@lilsis For me personally, I didn't figure out specifically what I wanted to do until a few years into college, and having a broad general scope of things to try out helped with the decision process. However, if I had already knew what I wanted to do going into UMBC, I probably would have regretted it and would have rather found a major elsewhere that was more specific to what I wanted to do.
what's the major called that you took at umbc? :)

@LaurenAshleySparks thank you! do you recommend their animation program? I'm thinking of maybe going there.
