They were al lot thrashy at the beginning. Joined Chuck (and DiGiorgio) to play on "Human" and created this. Everything that Chuck ever touched became gold. I think that formation of musicians that played on Human is the most terrific line up I have ever seen for a technical metal band.

people claiming this is jazz are dumb, obviously. people who are saying there are no similarities are missing the smaller details, though. some of their rhythms and harmonies, and some of the drumming comes off as very "jazzy", but it's obviously very well mixed with death metal (which the band is more known as), so the overall sound is just awesome music.

but honestly, there's no reason to have a dispute over the genre. it fits in various categories, nothing wrong with that.

Honest, I'm dissapointed, I had read a lot about the band and the album and now that I finally get to hear some of it, I'm getting back to Atheist, thinking that the members are very good creative muscians, including the "Robotized Schuldiner" which was something I disliked. But, personally, found the song's first half pretty dull, I dislike the use of synth in music, real music has to be played in real intruments, it was a bit repetitive and I hardly found the jazz elements they're famous for.
