Its Obviously awesome! As long as I know its real, I can careless if "monsterjohn" or anyone else think its fake, i just wanted to insult this dude a lil :} peace!
@monsterjohn no your the dickhead! This isn't fake. Do your research on the artist first before you pass judgement. If you've ever seen him live then you'd know.
@monsterjohn HAHAHA why would this be fake??? I'm not sure if you're kidding around or what. Do you know what a bass is or how it's played? it doesn't have to look difficult to play just because it sounds complicated............................. if you're that good your hand/finger movements are very efficient. not sure why i'm bothering with this comment but oh well
Personally, I'm excited by the live instrumentation stuff Tom's been doing. Planet Gear is one of my favourite Squarepusher tracks ever, I'm eager to see how he'll expand that palette.
It's pretty cool to watch all the interviews with him on Youtube, and see how his attitude to music - and the sound of his music - has changed. And his hair. As for this little jam - amazingly tight!
kmaines.. have you listened to ANY squarepusher album? to say that it is fusion is a dramatic understatement, this new stripped down approach happens just to be a new evolution of his sound atm.
IF you think your better challenge him to a bass battle!! Or better yet release an album better than his worse album! If you cannot comply then kneel before your master!
i think what we are seeing at the moment is 'pusher experimenting with different creative expressions. Who wants to eat the same thing for each meal a day for ten years? nobody!
Besides each album is an expression of a place in time with any artist, they're not making it for you! hahaha
Bah, this is what has bothered me about new Squarepusher. He uses all live instruments--no synths, nothing that I've grown to love him for. If he's going to do these kinds of songs, I'd really prefer he stuck with his classical guitar like he does in "Andrei" and "Every Day I Love". This is a great track, don't get me wrong, but I really want to hear some synths and breaks incorporated into it. That's kind of why I loved Hello Everything but never got through one listen of Just A Souvenir.

listen up, you're just a piece of shit little bitch that plays ddr, mr. jenkinson is a master, understand one thing, you know nothing about music theory and you never will because you play ddr, reality check, ddr is not music, and what makes you think tom jenkinson is gonna read this comment and listen to you a nothing that knows nothing and doesnt deserve to make comments.
Jenkinson's talents are not to be disputed, however, this riff is square as fuck,
it's just fast.... that's all it is... fast.
It isn't interesting. The structure is nearly abysmally cliche and makes me wonder why he thinks this is some hype shit, I know all you fanboy* can't really hear, so take it from a compser / bass player. Tom has had many several more interesting moments
I don't worship one band or artsit but I think it is rude to say that anyone who likes his bass playing is a blind "fanboy" (or girl). Speed can make a difference. You have a drumbeat from the Winstons created in the 70's, decades later someone sampled it, increased the speed and the typical drum and bass rythm was created. I agree with you on that he had more enjoyable songs. The way you communicated it was arrogant.
real musicians aren't embarrassed to play something simple. musicians w/ attitudes like yours are the reason a lot of people are embarrassed to admit that they're musicians.
@doctorspacebass um, this is what i was replying to: "Jenkinson's talents are not to be disputed, however, this riff is square as fuck,

All i know is back in the mid/late 90's he was just another "techno" guy abusing the amen break. Not too shabby on bass thought worthy enough to be compared to claypool IMO...
WHOA! No idea how you arrived at that conclusion. Aside from his virtuosic bass playing, his drum programming is almost obsessive. He also plays guitar, xylophone, drums, and synths. Not to mention he's created his own programs and algorithms for drum manipulation or synth generation. You should really take a listen to Beep Street, Iambic 5 Poetry, or Tetra Sync if you haven't...
lol thats a track and a half BendApparatus needs to shut up ..honestly this mans drum programing is far from abusing the amen break bettween him and pahex twin not to mention mike pardins the re cast the amen anew into a world of posabilitys
his dinamics and abilty are astonishing. i've known squarepusher for a long time, but i am always amazed at his skill.
