Which is funny because I don't care much for Fellini (8 1/2 aside) but I adore Kusturica. This film in particular is one of the best I've ever seen.

Kusturuca accepts the influence. The Undercround movie contains quotations of Amarcord. Remember the disabled guy swinging the watches saying "tic tac"? The wedding is like Gradiska's wedding in Amarcord last scene.

It is a Romanian song, we are calling that song "Seva" or Sheva...and yes I think that the right translation is The Lark (the bird). There is a bunch of Serbian musicians playing it...search here for Seva Kemis for example.
