oysters are disgusting but the steak was nice. Just don't see how you guys could like something sticky and gooey like that sliding down your throat....thats terrible.
Traditionally using beef fillet wrapped in bacon and served with the juice of the oysters combined with butter and worsteshire and served with a fresh oyster on the side
leviticus banned just about everything. great looking steak, but i'd prefer chicken breast with bacon and cheese inside, in a doorstop sandwich with great big chunky chips and some bbq sauce for dipping. mmm-mmmh! never occured to me to use toothpicks to keep it closed. genius.
Great video, but I would discourage eating oysters
Leviticus 11 (King James Version)
10And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: 11They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. 12Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
That's Leviticus, which many Jewish people follow. If I was Jewish and Kosher, than ya, thanks for telling me something I already knew. But I'm not, so why even bring this up???
Try trussing the stake with butcher's twine. Or get a thick long (at least 2+ inches long) sewing needle and put butcher's twine in it and roughly sew the open part. Watch out to not to pierce needle into your fingers :)
As an added tip, soak your Bamboo shoots in water or apple juice for added flavor. They should soak for 30-40 min. This will prevent them from burning onto the steak so you're not eating coal. I like to mix the oysters with some Soy sauce beer and lemon. this brings a lot of flavor.
Well, most of the recipes aint very familiar to me but afterall i am Greek so different cousine. But i congragulate you, it really shows that you do these videos from the heart. Keep cooking!
Now i like oysters and i love steak. And im not knocking the idea of putting the two together, but in all honesty the "carpet bag steak" has to be one of the most visually disturbing dishes iv ever seen. It looks absolutely disgusting, if i ordered it and what i saw on the video was brought to my table i would have a hard time convincing my self to try it. Even though it may taste great the look and id imagine the texture of slimy luke warm oysters stuffed in to a steak are a Huge turn off.
swuppo, I agree with you taste is in that fat but they the pit master so they gonna do what they like . I love their cooking no doubt they can throw down.
@Swuppo there is still enough fat to do the trick, and cooking for a more rare steak, the excess fat wouldn't do alot for the taste. just my thoughts.
pardon me for asking, but how do you deal with cholesterol levels and high blood presure? cause i'd love to try every dish you are making and i was just wondering about it.
Well first off I love you guys! 2nd why do you trim off the wonderful fat? Those werent fried oysters you did they were pan seared. Looks great to do the pocket but if you poured oysters on the top why does it matter? Why would u add sugar to this recipe yuck, thats for ham and pork.
Oh man!! I think those guys outdid themselves big time. That looks like the perfect steak/seafood combination. Funny thing is, I could just finish eating watch one of their videos and be hungry all over again. Ive gotta try this!
Ok, just throwing this out, but instead of just stopping with oysters inside the pocket, why not add some mushrooms and shredded cheese? I have done the cheese and mushrooms before and it was great., but.. add the oysters and you have a meal fit for a KING, or at least a truck driver... lol.. Keep them coming. The grilled shrimp and steak k-bobs turned out PERFECT.. keep it up... Doing great in Central Texas...
hey guys... just want to thank you guys for the great videos i watch everyday.. i still need to order me a 3XL shirt from you guys... also, i would like to thank you guys for telling my wife what type of knife you guys use.. i had it wrapped under the christmas tree and was the best present.. you guys ROCK

Hello BBQ pit boys, all your videos look great, i just have a little comment on the music (piano).. i'm a pianist and i like classical music but seriously i'd prefer some soft rock music while watching the gorgeous bbq recipes don't you think??

Carpetbag refers to the American Civil War solders whom often carried bags over their shoulders made of carpet, and were known to cook up some beef over an open fire when available......
@BarbecueWeb....That's right and it's too bad ole Lincoln wanted blood instead of peace......ah well, Sic Semper Tyrannis. The British abolished slavery without a single soul lost but when confronted with a similar such plan of peace, Lincoln refused. The right to secede from the "union" is right there in the Constitution; it's one of the most important American principals. I mean hell, how do you think America began?? We began by breaking away from Britain i.e. secession. Love the videos.
Oh, you mean like the way the people of Dixie suffered after the war? By the way, we broke away from Britain which technically is a secession, technically. If you're proud of the way "our people" have run this country in the not-so-distant past then continue to think it isn't a good idea for those who think they can do it better to at least try. That all sounds like chicken shit communism to me though......."you BETTER just do what's good for the fatherland OR ELSE!"
The horrors of the aftermath of the civil war are on record.
I'm not proud of much of the crap I see out there, but I do admire a country which could elect a man as president in 2009 who would have been refused entrance to the polling booth in my lifetime.
While I do not appreciate the man himself I do appreciate, as you do, the fact that he has the right to hold office. Yes, life is good and tomorrow the pit will be hot and the beer will be cold. Have a good night.
According to Wiki "The term carpetbaggers was used to describe the white northern Republican politicians who came South, arriving with their travel carpetbags. Southerners considered them ready to loot and plunder the defeated South"
"A Northerner who went to the South after the Civil War for political or financial advantage"

We used to go Crabbing, Smelting, Surf Fishing, Clamming for Razor clams.

Mom would make clam fritters.
Dad would clean and fry up a load of Smelt and sea Perch.

America was borne of revolution, not secession.
Unfortunately, the south refused to abolish slavery by peaceful or any other means.
Thankfully, the civil war was an unsuccessful attempt at a second revolution.
A way of life is immoral if it relies on human suffering to sustain it.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here.
The horrors of the aftermath of the civil war are on record.
I'm not proud of much of the crap I see out there, but I do admire a country which could elect a man as president in 2009 who would have been refused entrance to the polling booth in my lifetime.
Life is good and the grill is waiting.

While I do not appreciate the man himself I do appreciate, as you do, the fact that he has the right to hold office. Yes, life is good and tomorrow the pit will be hot and the beer will be cold. Have a good night.

@FirefightersTV I don' t know where you heard that.
According to Wiki "The term carpetbaggers was used to describe the white northern Republican politicians who came South, arriving with their travel carpetbags. Southerners considered them ready to loot and plunder the defeated South"
"A Northerner who went to the South after the Civil War for political or financial advantage"
