@edwarduzimaki Not sure if it will work, but in the past I have used headphones as a cheap mic. One side of the headphone will work , but not the other. You can try plugging that into your mic input on your computer.

@Metalhorns42 well on my ipod i use blackberry headphones the sleek black ones and i get amazing recording on my ipod and other devices but when i open the recording program on my laptop and plug it in its not picking up sound properly like if i scream as loud as i can it sounds like a whisper so i cant even rap with it... do you think a sony omnidirectional mic would work? i found one on amazon for 3.00$ + shipping

Audacity is seriously much better than sound-recorder. (And it's free - google it and download.)

As for making tracks, a lot of people will say LMMS is crap - but it's as close as you can get to FruityLoops for free w/o pirating. (Ignore that it says "Linux" there's a Windows version.) It's rather easy to make up a beat and instrumentals w/o really trying. Throw some of the drum samples together with ZynAddSubFX, and you've got something that sounds almost pro w/o spending a dime.
