I wouldn't say overrated, but overcrowded by those stupid "lets take pic of eiffel" little tourists and the other cunts who think paris is so fashion and le modern. I think Paris is one of the best places to explore the _food_ culture which really matters to me personally, I couldn't give a crap about eiffel.
@TheHabati I would say overrated because how many otehr cities are there in the world? there are soooo many beautiful cities in the world! Paris si nice and im not knocking it, but maybe its me growing up in America people always say "Im going to PARIS,PARIS,PARIS"all the time! as if Paris is the only city. @TheHabati I agree with you, they go to paris because of the "name" they dont know crap about french culture or its language but go there because its "cool" too and something they can brag to their coworkers about! which is pathetic, go to a place you really want to go to! not go because your coworker went to Milan and you go to Paris! makes no sense! people need to be individuals when travelling and ACTUALLY LEARN ABOUT THE CULTURE/CUSTOMS WHEN THEY GO! you cant be ignorant internationally!
first off, i wasn't debating, i was stating fact. Second off, im not debating with you because your knowledge of history is plainly fatally flawed. The revolutionary army depended heavily on foreign training, and support, and if you disagree with that you're a fool, hence, im not trying to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
French people laugh at english people who dislike us... it's like okay don't like us but we still live in a different world. We eat french toast for breakfeast and you eat bigmac... and the FAT pound per capita in U.S is much bigger!
lol maybe I'm part French, I only eat toast and coffee/tea for breakfast. Btw, I've been in France and Americans stick out like a store thumb, just letting you know. But Paris is a magical place in my opinion, regardless of the obvious "hate" against Americans, it's got a heart and a life of its own. I fell in love with that place, can't wait to visit or even live there.
I love learning about different cultures, and my family is not even from the US (I was born here), but I've never understood this: what does it mean to make sure you don't "give away that you're American"? Am I supposed to be hiding that or something?
Reading the comments, all of the rude & arrogant French people must've been on vacation when I was there last December... the most rude people I met were fellow travelers, particularly Germans and Americans! Still, though there are elements of truth to clichés, one shouldn't pass judgment so easily on an entire nation of people. We Americans especially should hold their tongues when it comes to arrogance...
When I was in France, everyone was very nice and agreeable. They were particularly pleased when my wife and I attempted to spoke French with them. We Americans take English for granted, but are usually offended when people come to the US without good English abilities. The French have a particular love of their own language, and are seemingly satisfied when foreigners at least attempt to speak it.
There is a large difference between being rude and being blunt. The French are very direct when they talk and do not shy away from confrontation. In Paris since, like Tony said, people tend to live in the moment they will gladly step up and be very direct with you. someone who is not used to this might find it rude but it is just custom and it is expected to speak your mind over there. In fact the opposite (keeping to yourself and/or ignoring a problem) would be considered rude.
Thats why I like them so much. They wont take shit from you and tell someone to fuck off if they think they deserve it. Honest language and blunt attitude. It's not for everyone but It works for them.
From a personal experience in general.....French people are just plain rude!!! They don't care about others but themselves!!! Discrimination in France is worst than in U.S.
i agree, i went to paris last summer and the woman who sells frenck fries/waffle in front of the eiffel treat me like hell eventhough i am her customer and the fact that i am foreign, she should respect me at least a bit..! But she act like animal and angry to me without purpose,i asked her a question and she SHOUTING at me...Sooo rude, Its a damn shame, its a beautiful city but the people got low manners....
I'm glad somebody finally admitted to the fact that French people are rude, selfish & disrespectful. It is a damn shame. No doubt that it's a beautiful place but heck the people need to learn good manners! I wonder if they treat each other that way too or just the foreigners?
Im french and yes if you go to the touristic tour the people won't care about you. My best advice is go where it's not touristic, specialy in front of the Eiffel Tower the guys see 654645654654654645 people every day.
but that french fries/crepe station has no other customer besides me, so eventhought there were 654...... tourist, they are at the eiffel which is across the street, not in front of that stall..
There really is, and if there is there fucking shouldn't be, any US or THEM any more. It's an out-dated idea propagated by stupid people with small minds and fear in their hearts.
Losers? They fought and 'won' WWI. There wouldn't be a United States without the help of the French Army, who beat the shit out of the English twice. You're a francophobe faggot, and yes I'm from the US
ok im not retarded I know that french fleet in charleston harbor is what the brits were surrendering to in 1781. But they won world war two? what fucking planet are you from? they surrendered, and the only reason the Maquis, which is the real name of the French Resistance had ANY impact is because we armed, trained, and gave them targets.
