@JRFrancisco20088 Me too. That was before ESPN had the rights to the major sports, so the 2am shows would be stuff like this, Aussie football, and truck and tractor pulls and crap like that. Basically anything they could find and not have to pay too much for the rights to.

Men have since it started being played as a sport in 1937. There are currently around 29 men's teams, men's leagues and co-ed leagues with men's teams around the world.

More if you add in the "pro-wrestling on wheels" type "worked" roller derby that only exists in one or two cities nowadays.

I used to watch this on T.V. a long time ago. I never had trouble understanding the scoring or the object of the game once they explained it. The jammer (the guy with the helmet) gets 1 point for each opposing skater he laps. The opposing skaters do whatever they can to stop him. That is the object of the game. It's not just a race, it's full-body contact. Like hockey, there was a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct. It's a very fast and brutal sport.
