@franteck31 This year yes, but not in 2008. This is a supersport race. I had left WSBK in the title of the video (I was just copying and pasting for speed) and streetfighter pointed that mistake out.
@AS5H0IE Yeah, although it must be said that Rossi finessed it a little better than Pitt who appears to massively misjudged his pace going into that corner. I reckon Stoner's comment to Valentino after the race could well be applied to Pitt.
@thedudewithoutabrain A crashed bike and rider is a serious hazard to anyone else who might fall off there at hit it. That is why the track is surrounded by gravel traps, air fence etc..to catch crashing bikes and stop them before they hit anything solid. The marshalls were running to remove the danger of the crashed bike and rider. They would see if the rider can remount and return to the race or if not get the rider out of danger and get the bike to a safe distance.
@thedudewithoutabrain One more thing...while the crash site is a danger, flag marshalls wave yellow flags. When they do that it tells riders on that part of the track they should not over take. This is because sometimes during an overtake a rider(s) may go off the track and so a dangerous thing to do while marshalls, rider(s) and bike(s) are close to the track without any protection.
Plugs can make a huge difference though...here is an odd one...on my Guzzi it feels like I can actually hear the mechanics of the engine i real fine detail(hi pitch stuff) now that the plugs remove most of the decibels (wind roar and exhaust)
Still...I've got tinitus from riding around all these years before it became better knowledge about the damage motorcycling can do :(
@DeconstructiveArt A deaf man can hear a Guzzi running, that valve clatter would drive me mad. I fight it back on my BMW with more valve adjustments then I really care to do. But it's nothing compared to the Guzzis I've heard, which are rare as hens teeth around Lousiville. I never see one, and one of these days I'm gonna talk myself into a ride. I may like them, I've often wondered how they felt compared to my airhead GS.
I am not racer so I want to ask what you can see in side the helmet because it look like the lavery pulled up before he could see pitt. was it instinct instead? Or can he hear pitt?
Ain't got the original video anymore to watch it on slow motion so difficult to decide watching now on youtube. But yeah looks like he heard Pitt so was 'warned' he was close to his right and so reacted immediately he saw that front tyre appear. All within about 0.15sec imo.
Racers can hear one anothers bikes eg, this weekend's superbike race Spies said he knew something had happened to Max because he could not hear Max's bike towards the end of the final lap. Max had been behind Spies.
yeas that is also good point. racers have quick reactions and i'm sure lav maybe saw the front wheel appear and reacted. lots of adrenaline to so ever 1 is quick reactions :D . also it's not hard to hear the aprillia bike lol.
Generally "feeling the presence" is during slipstreaming (ie hi speed straight line). Can't remember who but one ex-500cc rider once said (and it sounded odd to me) you can feel your leathers being pulled off your back by a following rider close in the slipstream. Weird huh?
well yes lol . But it looks like he pull up before pitt beside him. But I'm saying maybe he saw the front wheel quick and react the way he did. it's very cool what he did :D
wow how did laverty keep bike on turn ,impressive , i would have crashed (not maybe) thats a full race rear shock and would have spat most riders off , and i guess most of the best of the rest would have ran wide, gowan lad , do it : )
Pitt was talking about this incident like Rea and Laverty had plotted to get him out the race. He was even more bitter when Rea signed for the Superbike team for '09. Boo-hoo Andrew...
Yep sommat wrong with that closing speed mid corner. Laverty had shown all race that he would chop Pitts nose and that should have had Pitt looking for a very clean OT.
The only thing that might challenge that though would be the speed differential going into the corner. Laverty IMO pulls a bit of a gap. Is Pitt slow in, or as Pitt would argue, Laverty was too hot, ran wide, you can guess the rest.
what on earth is Pitty on about getting angry about Laverty here... absolutely ridiculous... Laverty had been taking that line all race long, no way Pitt was ever going to make that corner and keep it tight... ridiculous move... Laverty didn't have a chance to see him... man up and take it Pitty... you cocked up, nothing more too it
Watch for Corey Snowsill this year in World Super Stock....The next Stoner.

Hi buddy, Youtube's comments and reply system is poor so you might not know what this chatter was about.
It was just chat about the speed at which Laverty reacted to Pitt.
